  • Here is a description of my research on the ARB Pump and Locker install. This is the ARB CKMA pump. The larger pump allows for tire fill and Locker operation.

Great economical idea. 813 Fabrication sells a mounting plate that locates the compressor in just about the same spot. I think it’s about $125 and comes with heat shielding material. The creativity of Jeep people is amazing.

I put mine in this location on my 2022 JLU with the 3.6L E-Torgue. Very tight fit between the mount and the hood but still the best place I could come up with for the install as I do not want it in the cabin. On my engine, there is a hard metal tube that prevents the manifold from being lowered as shown in the video, but the manifold can be shifted far enough to the right to allow the hood to shut. You may end up with a slight indentation in the hood insulation though. Also, you'll have to run the air chuck and the solenoids parallel to the ground though rather than pointing up towards the hood.

I recently upgraded to an alternator from a 4.7 v8 and it has an extra leg on the back, in a similar location as where you put your compressor... I think that might be a good spot as well! I have read that some are getting interference on the insulation. You may have mounted it with a spacer or the wrong hardware. There is no interference on the filter if you install it directly to the engine cover bracket.

I saw the bracket Our Bills999 mentioned and thought it was the perfect twin compressor mounting solution for my 2022 JLU. Sadly, while the 813 Fab bracket works with a strait 3.6L, it does not work if you have the 3.6L E-Torque. After much research and investigation, I'm going to go with ARB's single compressor and mount it in the location you suggested. Two and a half years after the original posting and your video is still helpful! Thanks!

I have a 2013 SVT Raptor running 35s the only thing worries me to install the dual compressor in the engine bay were I have many good locations and accessibility is the heat produced by the engine taking into consideration I live in a hot dusty climate/area. I would appreciate if any of you can share with me if the dual compressor would experience any fatigue or damage caused by the engine heat?
One location I feel perfect for my application is the truck’s bed right hand side secured by an aluminum plate to the bed’s side noting that I have a fiberglass bed cover by leer which isolates the bed from the environment but I need to add at least 10 feet of cable to connect the compressor to the battery the power switch will be installed next to the compressor in the bed on the same foundation plate.
Please advise me what I should do?
    Thanks

Are you mounting this over the 3.6L V6 eTorque Engine? I know the layout in that area is slightly different with the eTorque versus the standard V6. Curious if you also wired the switch to one of the auxiliary switches (I have Aux 1 and Aux 2 currently free in the cab) or if you mounted the switch that comes with the compressor somewhere else.

TewlTalk 😂 I’ve been doing videos for about a year now and I too wonder about the dislikes I get… how am I supposed to make better content if I don’t know the reason for the 👎🏼. Fortunately they are not many, but the amount of effort it takes to push the thumb down than to not push it thumb at all makes me laugh. I would honestly rather a tasty comment than a thumb down… Anyway… To my question… I see you have a single ARB pump, would you reckon the dual system work in this location? I’ve been on the fence about where to locate mine as well… I’m considering the 813 designs I keep coming across that attaches to the bed ACC. rail, which is a pretty smart design. I may do like brad I’d trail recon and locate it in a leitner box when I do my rack. Keep up the great work. I know the amount of time for RND it takes to put together an informative segment. 🤙🏼

I installed mine in this location, mounted directly to the plate but still some slight rubbing on the hood insultation. Nothing I'm too worried about. Haven't hooked up all the wiring yet, wanted to see if I noticed any increased engine noise from the cover being removed. I did not notice a difference in noise. I did however notice that the ARB gets VERY hot after driving around only a few minutes. Have you had any trouble airing up after a trail ride due to the ARB overheating? Do you need to let it cool off for a while before using with it mounted here? Thanks for the videos!

That same pump is still there and working to this day. Don’t ask me how - but apparently ARB compressors are pretty tolerant of heat. I’ve had the air chuck so hot I couldn’t touch it for more than a couple of seconds - but the damn this just keeps working.
