It gets worse. These notifications are exclusive to IOS, and in order to access them on Android, you must download a separate app, which does not allow you to disable the airtag, and you must scan for airtags MANUALLY. If you are a woman using an Android phone, the chances of you being able to find an airtag being used to track you are very low.
Apple needs to fix this. it's sad because AirTags seems so useful when losing something and I would absolutely get tags for my dogs. Although the AirTags were made for missing items and more, people would instead decide to use them for hacking and trafficking. The idea is great, but Apple really needs to think this through.
I wonder if it's not just apple....we have I think knock off air tags and had a similar situation. But I didnt know it could be someone tracking me. I thought it was my bf messing with me when I was walking the dogs. And then back home.
My sister who is 17 was tracked with one, took the issue to the cops and they had no idea what they were. They said “it’s probably a prank. Go to apple to turn it off.” I was so upset at the sheer ignorance of current technology by the cops. I can’t just “turn it off” and forget about it, the person knows where she lives and goes to school. I told them it was a tracking device and if we could press charges for stalking once we found the owner. The answer was “No. it’s not stalking.” Then what’s it called when someone watches your every move, and makes you feel unsafe… oh yeah, STALKING. At least the one cop at the station drove behind us to the house and helped us look for it, but found nothing. If someone put an old school tracking device on my car and I found it I can press charges, why not with an air tag?!
they just like waiting until smth bad happens huh? same thing with some doctors, my mom has a thyroid disorder. our doctor is WAITING for something bad to happen to her due to it
The police has... Procedures that they can't ignore... They will get in lots of trouble and be fired... Worse, be on prison because they did it without the proper channels. I know because I have some relatives and neighbors who are complaining about that.
It’s things like these that make me lose faith in humanity. The fact that we are destroying the environment and doing terrible things like these to each other is just horrible
These cops better start taking people more seriously when they come in to file reports! Just imagine how scary it’s gonna be when they start putting AirTags on our children’s stuff!!!
Theirs actually are some cops in America that actually take it seriously but if you go to the police department then the tracker will know that you found out that the airtag was found and went to the police department then it would be much harder to get the tracker
Best go to Apple straight away, to bypass the security system & get more info of the data collector's device location. If they refused to give the information, then Airtags had breached our safety & data security, and I smell _lawsuit_
@@anaalina5964 well they could at least take reports instead of just turning people away acting like it’s not happening….. I mean that’s the least they could do in my opinion.

They should make you register your air tag to an i.d so that if you were ever followed and found an air tag they can trace it back to the person stalking you

Apple did release an app on the Google Play store that can detect any airtags nearby but it doesn't search in the background like the iOS app does. It is still better than nothing though
This is so unfortunate. A device that had the potential to be so useful, such as tracking your pet, keys, backpacks, etc, is being used for malicious purposes. There is so much evil in the world. Absolutely scary. . .
I don’t even know how Apple thought this was a good idea. They obviously didn’t think far into it and they just want money. It shows just how greedy they are. Their shouldve at least been a feature where there would be a new code on every air tag and you would have to enter the air tag code into your phone so nobody else can track you, unless they have your phone.
It's even scarier for people like me who use a Samsung phone, someone could track me with one of these and I wouldn't even notice unless I find the AirTag itself.
@PastelVoid chances are low but never zero, thats what my mom told me - but that doesnt mean you should worry yourself into oblivion, just be careful and cautious around the people you meet with and always trust a gut feeling 🙏
there's an easy solution for that. dont get anythign shipped to your home, have a pickup place at the mail building. then dive away from your home to a park or indoor business. open the package there, dirtch the box right there and leave with your product. it's a bit more work, yes, but you get to keep your brand-choosing freedom.
Ik I have gotten and iPhone in July and I think you should get the cheapest iPhone off amazing the iPhone XR like $259 so you can know be safe out here
2 extremely simple solutions, yet still to complicated for the absolute morons for work for Apple. Just a few updates and remake them to be better and they’ve could’ve been such a great investment. It’s also the police’s fault for these human trafficking cases. They dont do the slightest for our young women’s safety. This is why our earth is becoming horrible and inhabitable.
Misused AirTags are scary but what do you expect from an Apple device made to be tracked ? I understand the utility of such devices but this thing is to easily hacked. Oh and as an European I'm always baffled by ''porch pirates''. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that it's normal in the US to just leave a package outside on the porch. Here the delivery person needs to ring the bell and give it to you in person, or if you're not home they will drop it in a place where you can pick it up later like a mail station or a small shop. It's crazy to let packages on the outside without any supervision
Wait, home delivery means that they will ring the doorbell to check if you're home? Where I live, they just fly right past us and say we weren't home, then drop it off at the most unreachable place imaginable
They use to do that a few years ago, have someone come to the door have you sign for the package then hand it off to you, idk why they stopped doing that, but my guess is that it saves time and money.
Same here, if we're not home i get a message saying i can retrieve it at he post office the day after. When it's the delivery guy my neighbour and i know, he gives it to whoever is home. The idea of letting boxes at the door is just an invitation for thieves.
The tracker isn't easily hacked, it has no way to attach to a computer, or access its inner workings. You'd need to be an high level engineer - and with that a high level engineer could track you better than an AirTag
Its more scary if the person that was being tracked doesnt have an apple phone to see. I'm not from the US but it scares me when traveling. Plus even if they recall im sure malicious people already have bought a ton. Its so sad that police arent taking it seriously
Police can't make report based on "what ifs" so best they could write would be "wild airtags installed, accurate location of device unknown, disabling option is unavailable" They don't even have the authority to bypass the airtags system, nor collecting any data from it 🤷♀️ these kinds of reports should be done straight to Apple, imho, they have the capability to bypass their own product's system.
Just in case to deactivate the air tag you just twist the white chap and the metal in opposite directions and it stops the tracking but it will show your last location.
I worked for Amazon in November & December, and you guys.... knowing this information and knowing how often these are using to track people against their will, it is so scary how many of these Airtags I processed, singular or IN BULK. People bought these in bulk, and I mean like at least *50 at once.* Holy Fck.
@NotNitehawk ooh! A store near me uses air tags to keep track of customer items It's a refill shop so you use the air tag to track the weight of the container so you're only charged for the good. It's pretty neat
Tip for Android users. You already have an air tag tracker. If you keep your machine updated, go in settings, type/look up "unknown" and you should see an option called "Unknown tracker alerts." For me it's the top option. The one with an orange icon. Tap that, then tap "unknown tracker alerts" and from there, the "Allow alerts" switch, should be on by default. There's a "Scan now" option. You can do that when your blutooth is on. Stay safe 👍 Thanks spill for this video. From now on, I'm always alert for trackers. 👍
Oh gosh, the idea of something so accessible (as long as you have the money) like an AirTag could be used in this kind of way is absolutely terrifying.
Imagine how terrifying it must be to find out that somebody has been tracking your exact location for hours, maybe even days, without you knowing the entire time.
This is something that occurs without the airtags too. There are other types of tracking devices, the difference is that apple lets you KNOW if someone is tracking you. I don’t think we give them enough recognition for that
Yeah after literal HOURS. Nearly every video of a woman talking about how the item had been with them for hours and that's easily enough time for someone to finish up what they're doing and head home/get home. Apple doesn't deserve credit for what is not even the bare minimum.
Exactly, and they mostly use those trackers instead. But becuase its apple they give them all the burden. They mostly use trackers that are still accurate but dont warn becuase they are cheaper and they have extra benefit if you are a creep
This is why we can’t have nice things. Once Apple makes something useful for the good. Bad people like traffickers and stalkers have to come and ruin it for the rest of the people. 🙄🙄

A worker from the shop next door to my job had one put in her bumper. She has an iphone so it alerted her that there was an air tag in the area and it was active. The fact that anyone with an iphone can get an alert from one even if it isnt theirs is helpful for lost things and situations like this
@@maryjjaneeee how? If someone puts an airtag on your car then why would it be dangerous for you to know their location? Not trying to be mean, I just genuinely want to know why you disagree
This is a shame, this is one of the many times when something with good intentions turns bad... The AirTag sounds good on paper, you could find lost objects, but as soon as they uses are fully understood this happens, this is why we can't have nice things. I have an Android phone, and don't have an iPhone, meaning I'd have a bad time....
This is really sad, I fully understand that Apple made this with good intentions, and that it is not their fault. However, I do hope Apple can fix the problem where we can't disable this anonymous AirTag following us, it will make it so much safer.
@@pgakt I believe they should allow far items to be trackable ONCE the owner of the tag calls a help line from Apple AND verify their ID and reason for tracking. That would pretty much cease the issues.
@@FrenchFriesStephanny it’s difficult because that would take a long time and someone might need their item urgently, for example my tracked bag had medication in it and I plan to have an AirTag on my dogs collar, I don’t think there is an easy solution to this
Agreed it should give you a notif to accept and only then track you.. not just be able to connect no issue like that.. best fix would just be an update for all devices with a few security measures that blocks randos from getting into your phone without your knowing
And I thought it'd be great if an item tracker existed 👀 because I lose things occasionally, I didn't know it already existed. Now I'm reconsidering that idea.
Getting one for yourself is good. The issue outlined in this video is when a stranger or an ill intentioned acquaintance plants one on one of your personal belongings. YOU have control over an air tag that you purchase. You do not have control over an air tag used by another person.
One time, me and my sister and my mom got a notification of something like this couple weeks ago. We were concerned why did this happen. We really didn’t know what to do, but after that everything was okay for a while. After watching this video, now I’m starting to wonder why I got that notification.
I think that a lot of people are calling other products airtags, if it says “unknown device” it’s not an airtag. If it says “airtag” or “unknown airtag” then it’s an airtag. Tile has been around forever and does the same thing and there’s atleast 10 different companies that make gps trackers that work the same way. If people want to get rid of airtags, they need to put that energy into the other companies as well. At the very least if you have an iPhone with an airtag following you, you can find out. If it’s another brand, you would never know.
Honestly, what can the police do? They don’t know where the tag is either. Apple was wrong for even passing the responsibility on to local law enforcement. Can you say “lawsuit”?
True. Policemen are never allowed to make reports based on "what ifs", at best they gonna write _"wild airtags hitch-hike car, location undetermined"_ Not like they could bypass Apple security to find out which device collects the data & its location 🤷♀️ They honestly should have went to Apple shop and get assistance to bypass the airtags security system to get it disabled or at least collect the data-collector's device information 🤷♀️ and if Apple can't do that much, I think that word is usable at that point 👆
Honestly its idiotic to put the whole weight on the law enforcement. Tgey should add the option to permanently disable the close "item" from keeping to follow them
Both cops and Apple really need to step up their game here. If you OWN the airtag and have a new enough iPhone, it helps you find the exact location with a "warmer/colder" and on-screen arrow based system. From the sound of it, this isn't available for finding an airtag that was planted on you? WHY??? And if such a system was available, the cops could use a newer iPhone to help you locate it if you have an older iPhone or an Android. Once the airtag is found, they can trace the serial number back to your stalker.
What if the person has a Samsung and it doesn't even give you the notification that an air tag is with you. This is terrifying, I don't think it's a good idea for Apple to keep producing them unless they find a way to fix the problem.
I use an AirTag to track my mom who has mental issues and schizophrenia. Sometimes she doesn’t make it home or gets confused and lost. These are a lifesaver!
just sharing.. VCO (cold-pressed coconut oil) is needed nourishment for our brain accd to Dr. Robin B. Navarro. also a reminder to repent to God. God is our healer! God bless!
Being tracked by an air tag should fall into a stalking category. Most states have stalking laws. If the police will not take a report then you need to insist that a stalking report be taken. Also, if you ever suspect that you are being followed or tracked do not go home or to any place you normally would such as work. Go directly to the police station. People following you will not follow you into a police station parking lot and their car may even be caught on camera. People tracking you with an air tag will know that you are onto them and will probably disable the tag. If nothing else, you will be in a safe space to search your car.
This product is actually terrifying, its really sad because its an useful product but then some humans use for cruel purposes. *Apple needs to recall this product!*
or apple needs to make it so if it is like 10km away from the owner of the airtag, it should tell the general location or the neighborhood name or something, would be WAY more secure
Honestly I'm quite happy how apple designed the airtags/phone to alert you if there was an unknown air tag following you. As helpful as they are, there will always be people using them in unlawful ways.
Literally the second These came out, I had a feeling that this was gonna happen. Like I get that it’s a negative thing to assume but it’s just what can be expected from the twisted society we live in. However, THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!
To be honest I never even knew this is a product, Apple should’ve known better because there have been cases for years about people tracking other people with dog and key trackers. BUT if you think about it logically, it may be more beneficial for this apple product to be bought and used rather than other trackers since with these other trackers you WILL NOT KNOW youre being tracked. Apple should keep the product, but they should also be able to turn in the air tag and figure out whos phones have been connected to it, and they should have better customer service for dealing with these stalkers.
Air tags are probably the dumbest thing Apple has ever released in their line up. You can't tell me that no one at Apple saw this coming. They might as well name these things iStalk.
There’s been devices like this out way before apple did there so it not just a apple thing…and those other devices don’t notify you at all Atleast apples does
You literally could have a tile or samsung smart tag on your car right now, and not know about it. Apple's AirTag is the only one that notifies you when it is detected
This actually happened to my big brother last year about september month ig? He was called for an interveiw and ever since then he had been getting this notification. Me and my family actually kinda ignored it till around nov month until I saw a article in media saying about this issue. We quickly searched for the airtag and found it in my brother's suit's coat. And when we tried going to the interveiw place it wasn't there anymore and even their email was removed leaving us without any evidence(for which we weren't able to report to police) So, please check your belongs even if you male or female,it is actually terrifying knowing someone is knowing where you are going especially when we most of us like being roaming around alone at night time.
It happened to me as well luckily I got it before I went to my house and now its who knows where after me and my friend broke it. Also I'm very happy someone finally said something about everyone's safety not just women because other people's safety is disregarded while everyone pays attention to women.
Yikes! Even if these stories weren't true (as some have claimed) the simple fact that it's possible to use air tags in this way means that they WILL be used this way at some point.
Something that I literally haven't seen mentioned yet is, what happens if you don't own an Apple device? Are you expected to just wait for someone WITH an Apple device to get the notification? This is complete and utter bs and shouldn't have even been allowed in the first place
cant really blame apple for how this product can be dangerous. they made it for people to help find their belongings. blame the terrible people who are using this for sinful reasons
@@sweetchocolate7113 honestly it has always been happening. There are other products that are the same but it doesn’t have the notification system, apple is the only one who has the notification. If the stalker really wanted to stalk, they could have done it whether or not apple sold the product. The product apple made was more popular because apple made it and apple was famous. But apple still should try and fix it, it is true they did make it more popular
Don't use tracking devices. Just simply take care of your belongings and don't lose them. For dogs? Keep them on leash when you're walking them out from your property and don't let them run away. Easy.
Apple needs to make a way where if someone os alerted of being tracked by a airbag on them, they shoukd be able to tell the person who is being tracked, who is tracking them and their phone number. Lastly why is the police telling every theif in the world how to steal a car with a key they bring with them 🥴
Also watch out for things tied to car door handles. The time it takes you to take off whatever it is is all that's needed to be snatched. Wait to get home to get it off your car for your safety. Or go back in and ask for help out, saying you fear for your safety and want someone to walk with you to your car.
I have a cousin who is a little off his rocker sometimes. His gf broke up with him and he got jealous and put an airtag in her school bag and her car back seat and followed her to her new boyfriends house. He was going crazy and convinced that even though she broke up with him she was technically cheating on him being with someone else. He stalked her for months and my aunt eventually gave up trying to convince him hes being crazy and to stop. She eventually called the police. My cousin is spending 8 months in a mental institution.
I mean... just fundamentally if you can use it for a dog or cat you can use it for a person. That's just the nature of the beast. Outside of injectables (and that's not even really a solution) there is no fix.
This is even scarier for people who don't have apple devices. Does the airtag notify you even when you aren't the owner of any apple devices, or are you just stuck not knowing someone random could be tracking you?
To everybody saying that apple needs to recall air tags: apple did not invent personal trackers. These devices have existed for years (tile, trackr, etc.) and unfortunately have been used for this purpose behind closed doors. If anything, we should be thankful that apple has made it possible to alert people that there is a tracker they didn’t authorize near their location. apple doesn’t need to recall the product, as it is not their fault at all, but law enforcement should find a way to better deal with these types of situations.
Apple most certainly does need to recall it and fix the issue with they need the serial number to get it deactivated. Apple also needs to make sure that the air tags are useless unless authorised by the person being tracked. There are many issues with thr air tag and saying they do not need to be recalled is simply ignorant. They need to be updated. And as an android user living in one of the most well known cities in the western workd this scares me because I wont get a report due to not using an Iphone. If they do not get recalled they will be used on things like kid backpacks or toys its giving way to more human trafficking cases.
So because they also joined in the behavior behind closed doors they should be absolved of responsibility and guilt because they weren't the first ones to put peoples lives in danger? Do you realize how this logic sounds in many life threatening situations?
At least Air Tags tell you that you’re being tracked. They should add a couple new features. Add ability to push sound (so you can find it) and post the serial number on the notification Because if it’s not air tags, it’s a different bug or tracking device that unlike apple, won’t notify you. EDIT: okay, I just reached the end of the video. Seems like yes, the features I said are available lol
This is also the reason why Hololive Vtubers aren't taking gifts from fans anymore. They found out that some gifts has some Airtags in them that these creeps use to find where Hololive's talents live.

there's apparently an app for android users to be told if there's an airtag near you. ridiculous that apple made a product that's affecting people who don't even have apple products
hopefully this helps y'all see that not everyone has good intentions....in fact a lot of people have bad intentions, the world is a big, scary, dangerous place. please be safe y'all, I know we can't really control the airtags being placed on our things since obviously we don't know about it, but take precautions in general.
Honestly, these problems could be solve if only Apple allow users to disconnect sharing locations with AirTag instead of just only notify users but unable to do anything else
well if for example someone placed one on your car, turning off your location/bluetooth on your phone won't do anything. it is tracking the car, not the phone
the fbi needs to get involved. this is privacy invasion and could lead to a LOT of things. i wish someone could hire private investigators on these too
my friend actually once found an airtag that was with her. we were at anime club at school and she got a notification, and i was right next to her and i got no notification (she was a minor and looked like a minor), she called her parents, told the adult there, and also played the sound for it. we never actually found it, but we're fairly sure that it simply belonged to someone else
It's not Apple to blame. Gps trackers have existed for years. It's only being mainstream now because people love Apple, not even realizing that this tech has already existed.
It also lowers the bar for entry. I'm pretty sure GPS trackers cost more than $30, which is now what it costs to stalk someone if you already have an iPhone (or $25 if you want to stalk 4 people).
It's like a double-edged sword. Someone can use it to find their missing items or pets and in the wrong hands it can be used to all kinds of evil stuff 🥺

Although the AirTags were made for missing items and more, people would instead decide to use them for hacking and trafficking. The idea is great, but Apple really needs to think this through.

The fact that the police are gonna wait till it’s too late is absolutely insane

Both cops and Apple really need to step up their game here. If you OWN the airtag and have a new enough iPhone, it helps you find the exact location with a "warmer/colder" and on-screen arrow based system. From the sound of it, this isn't available for finding an airtag that was planted on you? WHY??? And if such a system was available, the cops could use a newer iPhone to help you locate it if you have an older iPhone or an Android. Once the airtag is found, they can trace the serial number back to your stalker.

It happened to me as well luckily I got it before I went to my house and now its who knows where after me and my friend broke it. Also I'm very happy someone finally said something about everyone's safety not just women because other people's safety is disregarded while everyone pays attention to women.
“Women are the primary victims.” That’s usually the case! 🤦🏼♀️
It's hard to be a woman.. we always get harrased 😪
Yep
The police had to escort me home recently because I wore something pretty to boost my confidence. I was just getting groceries.

My advice,
Throw it away. Instead of tracking a person, why not track the garbage?
U r a genius
There is an app for android that can help detect it but it can't disable it or anything
the air tag will consistently play a sound when out of reach from and apple phone

That's what I was thinking too😱

cant really blame apple for how this product can be dangerous. they made it for people to help find their belongings. blame the terrible people who are using this for sinful reasons
But still should have thought about the after math too because if they took the time to think about it then this wouldn't happen
@@sweetchocolate7113 but it is true they should have thought about it too
They should have know the risk will outweigh the benefit, they probably did know, but they don’t care.
You actually can blame Apple for this. They didn't thoroughly test the product out so they can prevent something like this from happening.
"There is no item that is good and bad at the same time"
Airtag: "you were saying?"
Lastly why is the police telling every theif in the world how to steal a car with a key they bring with them 🥴
They should at least say how far away the person who are tracking is. Like, "the device A is tracking you from X meters away".
tell the person tracking them who they're tracking? tf
Apple has a privacy policy. They won't change their policy for this.
Apple needs to fix this. The idea is great; I would absolutely get tags for my dogs. It can't be this easy to stalk people.
Or Cat.
I mean... just fundamentally if you can use it for a dog or cat you can use it for a person. That's just the nature of the beast. Outside of injectables (and that's not even really a solution) there is no fix.
This is even scarier for people who don't have apple devices. Does the airtag notify you even when you aren't the owner of any apple devices, or are you just stuck not knowing someone random could be tracking you?
no but theirs some apps where it tells u if u have a airtag or not if u don't have a iPhone or apple device
@@JAS0N5K but you also are unable to shut it off using android

@@raerohan4241 the air tag will consistently play a sound when out of reach from and apple phone
Just by apple recalling the air tag wont stop these bad people ,they will just continue to use similar products
And also some of these air tag rip offs wont even alert you
At least it gives the warning that a air tag was found
At least Air Tags tell you that you’re being tracked. They should add a couple new features. Add ability to push sound (so you can find it) and post the serial number on the notification
Because if it’s not air tags, it’s a different bug or tracking device that unlike apple, won’t notify you.
EDIT: okay, I just reached the end of the video. Seems like yes, the features I said are available lol

hopefully this helps y'all see that not everyone has good intentions....in fact a lot of people have bad intentions, the world is a big, scary, dangerous place. please be safe y'all, I know we can't really control the airtags being placed on our things since obviously we don't know about it, but take precautions in general.
What makes this even worse... What if the person doesnt even use a "apple phone" but an android ? You would never know about it.

It scares me. It's sad that things made with good intention can be so harmful when they are in wrong hands
my friend actually once found an airtag that was with her. we were at anime club at school and she got a notification, and i was right next to her and i got no notification (she was a minor and looked like a minor), she called her parents, told the adult there, and also played the sound for it. we never actually found it, but we're fairly sure that it simply belonged to someone else
I think the safest ways to avoid this is just buy an Android phone. Siri is more horrifying than Google.
They can still track you. If you have an android phone you won’t even know if it’s tracking you, if you had an apple phone at least you would know.
