Now that might be the bat queen since she was looking for a paliman but there was golden guard's staff so maybe? And it said "with a foe" now the bat queen is not a foe shes kinda neutral AND it said "unexpected" so luz didnt ask for help and i think the word journey, plus the fact that luz is holding Golden Guards staff says that he wound be reformed...or maybe im just being skeptical and the foe is someone else and that someone else and luz took his staff, who knows? Guess we'll have to wait.
Honestly, as much as I like the Hunter we have now, I really wish the show emphasized more of his crueler traits. I mean, he was raised by Belos, who's not exactly emotionally honest, and Hunter clearly has the capacity for cruelty, judging by how he threatened to burn Luz and Eda. And like... I don't know man, throw your weight around or something, show us we have a reason to be scared of you. Even in this episode, he's more goofy than genuinely threatening. The closest I think we ever get to showing those darker aspects of his character is when he talked to Amity about Luz's Tamagotchi messages, but even then it's unclear whether or not that was what he genuinely thought or if he was just trying to emotionally manipulate her so he could escape.
If anyone doesn't know, Dana said on twt he's 16, so it's possible he might end up in hexside, maybe to spy on Luz? Also, I don't think he's already studying there, Luz has been implied to have been there for good while, like a month or something, so she would have known him by now
I really like his character. He started off as so rude and heartless but later on he became a really nice person. Personally I think he got really good character development.
This is the exact same mood as watching Peridot's first appearance in SU now. Show trying to make the character look like an enigmatic villain but you're just pointing going 'BABY BABY BABY BABY' because you know them now

So, I think that Golden Guard is just meant to be the foil to Edalyne. A lot of people claim he could be a Clawthorne. I don't think that's the case, though. He has a very similar zest for life, just a very different view on the Duty to the Emperor. They were both gifted youths who have become incredibly powerful, using all different tracks of magic to do so. I think that if Edalyne had the drive to get into the Emperor's Coven, and wasn't cursed, she would have ended up very much like The Golden Guard.

I’m still shocked on how great of a performance Zeno Robinson does as the Golden Guard/Hunter. I already knew about him from Pokémon Journey as he voices Gou and now prefer him as Hunter over Gou. And while the show is sadly since ended, I still loved his character he voiced from TOH.
