I love lines that have double meanings. When we first hear "it would be such a hassle to find a replacement," we assume Belos just means finding another recruit to become golden guard. But when we're shown the recipe for a Grimwalker, it calls for palistrom wood, galdorstones, and selkiedomus scales, all ingredients that are very hard to come by. So, yeah, it would be a hassle to find a replacement. Also, the fact that Belos was hunting a selkiedomus makes me wonder if he was already planning on replacing Hunter, although it could just be that he wanted to have a few backups ready due to the sheer amount of failed attempts.
Also wasn't the illusionist coven head wanting the give belos the galdorstones? He said it was going to be a present but it makes me think he may have told them to keep an eye out or something
Wait, in Hunter’s debut as a character, Belos ordered him to kill a selkiedomus… does that mean that Belos ordered a grimwalker themselves to get an ingredient used to create another grimwalker?!
I love how when the mask is on he cracks jokes and one-liners and then as soon as it comes off he just becomes angsty and tired of everything, I wish we could've seen a little more of him as "The Golden Guard''

Crazy that he's only in like 8 out of the 21 episodes yet he's still so popular (though I'll be honest, I think his arc would've benefited from more filler episodes so we could get to know him a bit more before his redemption, but I understand why they couldn't do it and the arc we got is still good anyway so I'm not complaining too much)

I think it's not a clone of hunter because all the other grim walkers are in belos's deeper layer of the mind that Luz finds after popping a fire glyph in all the palisman's face. Also hunter says "I wonder why darius looks so sad here" and it's because he's witnessing Hunter (a clone of his old mentor) repeating the cycle starting with the knighting and his staff.
Nah it’s probably Hunter. In the episode he mentions that Darius is in the picture and looks upset. We know that Darius was close to the Golden Guard prior to Hunter so that’s why he’s upset.
I haven't seen anyone talk about the part where Darius says "You're good at doing exactly what you're told." Then later on, when Willow and Gus are trying to make the Flyer Derby team, he goes along with it without fully knowing why it's important to get members. Because they told him to...and he's good at doing what he's told... I thought way too hard about this and actually cried that episode because I found it so sad that he JUST DOES THINGS?? For other people?? Like no questions?? He just wants to be "useful" and it's so- devastating... (The edit is me fixing a spelling mistake)
And in hunting palismen he says to Luz: yeah at least you can figure out your own life (Spoilers for thanks to them ⬇️⬇️) But then, when Gus asks him how it is now that he isn't in the emperor's coven, he says something like: at least I knew who I was That's just sad :( because he found out he's a grimwalker he doesn't know if he is his own person anymore and where he belongs T_T

My boy is best character. He may have some trauma, and was the enemy at first, but he learned and grew. Now, he has amazing friends that he would probably consider family.
When I first saw the panic attack breathing method scene, I fucking cried. I’m so glad that they put this in a show for kids. I needed something like this growing up with severe anxiety. So…knowing that the next generation will grow up knowing these methods early on in their life makes me so so happy and hopeful.
Did you guys notice something and sport in any storm Darius said that the previous golden guard was 1 of the strongest witches that he's ever known there for he had Magic. The emperor brought back the Basilisks for the draining spell and to give the grimwakers magic ability and it sounds like that Golden guard was the first one to have magic
And this observation leads to my favourite, horrible, implication about why Hunter doesn’t have magic: Belos knew how to create a Grimwalker with innate magical capabilities, as evidenced with previous GG being such a powerful witch, but he chose not to grant this to Hunter because this would make him more dependent than his previous incarnation was - “the Titan has big plans for you [despite or perhaps because of your rare lack of magic]”, “I thought he would last longer [I designed him to be weaker and his betrayal to develop later”

I love Hunter so much became a favorite really quickly. I knew he’d end up being an ally. He had a rough life and needed help. Now he is finally getting it and is becoming a normal kid.

I love seeing such an accurate representation of trauma. It's explained so well, for sadly too many who understand it personally. Plus, the personality is spot on to many responses as well. Hunter (and fans who relate) need a hug, a real one.
It took me rewatching season 2 twice to realize that we're actually told about the grimwalker ingredients BEFORE we even get to hollow mind. Just...knowing that was most likely the reason why Hunter was sent after the selkidomas..why the scouts wanted the golderstones, why the palstrom wood was over harvested. Man....I just I wanted hug the poor kid.
Everything about hunter is just so... well, golden. I love that pretty much every scene he is in has some sort of storytelling about his deeper lore, like flapjack calling him Caleb while trying to come up with a fake name, his face in the glass at 10:56 looking as if its behind bars, I mean I could go on and on but there is always _something_ bigger being told around him for most of his screentime. I really wish we got more of him in the finale, seeing as hes pretty much the real protagonist... or maybe thats just my bias for him, lol
I love how even after everything that happened after hollow mind he is still hesitant of being destructive of the emperors coven not only out of fear but also because his whole life he has been following it, which I love, because it shows how the show makes realistic arks.

It took me rewatching season 2 twice to realize that we're actually told about the grimwalker ingredients BEFORE we even get to hollow mind. Just...knowing that was most likely the reason why Hunter was sent after the selkidomas..why the scouts wanted the golderstones, why the palstrom wood was over harvested. Man....I just I wanted hug the poor kid.
Everything about hunter is just so... well, golden. I love that pretty much every scene he is in has some sort of storytelling about his deeper lore, like flapjack calling him Caleb while trying to come up with a fake name, his face in the glass at 10:56 looking as if its behind bars, I mean I could go on and on but there is always _something_ bigger being told around him for most of his screentime. I really wish we got more of him in the finale, seeing as hes pretty much the real protagonist... or maybe thats just my bias for him, lol
