Well ironically you were standing on top of it, the ancient site. To the best of my knowledge after excavation the site was covered with plastic sheets and then covered with dirt to prevent it from further erosion. The artefacts recovered were placed in the museum. Oh and there is another such site somewhere in the vicinity of Pilibangan. U should have contacted the museum caretakers. They would have guided u well. Many of such sites have been discovered on the predicted course of Saraswati river. Interestingly it was called Indus valley Civilization by the British but it is also commonly believed that the settlements of this ancient Civilization were chiefly located along the course of Saraswati river which has now been extinct or may be obliterated. I certainly hope that some day soon it's going to be turned into a complex.
Naming it "Indus Valley Civilization" made sense, as the main sites of Harappa and MojenjoDaro were both on Indus, and also other sites like Roper were on Satluj, a tributary of Indus. Many sites have been found on Ghaggar, which is also a part of Indus Valley. Naming this civilization after a mythical river of Sarasvati would not make sense archeologically.
Or there is rakhigadhi village in haryana....where you can even touch the bones and sculptures of ancient bodies because there is no authority to take care of the security till now
Thanks for making this video. My hot takes: 1. It's very likely that the structures you saw in the images are real and are buried underneath the rubble. I am going to vote incompetence by ASI and the tourism board but I do know a few people in ASI and they have told me that they would rather have this buried than expose it to tourists. My biggest fear is that it's already dismantled and in private hands now. Not conspiratorial considering how a certain government tenure resulted in a massive influx of Indian artefacts in European and American art galleries. The Italian sister of the politician became a specialist in Indian artefact trade without any expertise, education, prior history or proven networks. 2. This video reminds me why India is not going to be a tourism hub for say a decade. Turkey, Greece or European nation would have made this into a complex instead of a small museum, but the government has much higher priorities and the local community isn't rich or educated enough. India is just for backpacking and religious tourism. 3. Please have a local point of contact when you go to offbeat locations. A verified local on social media or a domain specialist TH-camr(food, history, tourism). They are not hard to find and happily oblige. I do this when I travel outside my state too. Not to imply the country is unsafe, they will handle the logistics, save you haranguing for prices, cover language barriers and tell you straight up if the place is worthwhile. (The best place to find one is reddit or Indian IG/FB groups)
So sad to know that you could not see what you wanted to, its near my tow, KALIBANGA and its neighbour PILIBANGAN, KALI means Black and BANGAN means bangles, because they found black bangle and a yellow bangle ( PILI = yellow ) thats how these towns got their names, the site is covered with dirt and most of the items are taken to Delhi museum. Its sad for us that such an ancient site here in Rajasthan but lack of resources and no attention from government itself.
A great video! Not a failure but a valuable learning experience instead. A different part of the world and a different lifestyle. Some valuable information has been posted as to what could have happened and what has happened. It would seem that archeological sites may be kept under wraps? Certainly mounds can be signs of buried civilisations, even in the ancient Mesopotamia area. What happened in this region was that towns were buried as invading forces destroyed them. They were filled in and rebuilt upon. I have heard of multiple cities being regenerated in this manner.
Indian civilization is the oldest known civilization. carbon dating has proved some of the things found in old city of the Dwarka in gujarat india is between 9000 BC to 28000 BC. obviously western historians would reject this because then history has to be written and India would be given the credit of 1st human civilization. portrayal of Western media about Indians being uncivilized, backward people made somewhat civilized by British will prove false. but the unfortunate part is the old city is under the sea between India Pakistan border and not much research can be done. indian culture have left its traces comes from mesolithic as observed in the sites such as the rock paintings of Bhimbetka rock shelters Madhya Pradesh dating to a period of 30,000 BCE or older. yogic culture says Varanasi is more than 30000 years old. but it has been invaded at least 20 times and most of the very ancient stuffs have been lost. Varanasi still has iconographic proof of being some 12400 years old.
There is conjecture that the Australian Aborigines had migrated into Australia from the area of India. Certainly the Indigenous Australians came through the Indonesian islands.
The whole site is now under the Dirt preserved in indian and pakistani State of Punjab until 70s 3000 years old Walls were common under a random soil mound in A Farm of farmer and most of them were known to farmers through the oral history that was told by their Ancestors generation after generations People know that there used to be a village and city but now it's in dirt under soil In Punjabi we call that mound as Theh For example when the Taxila was found during excavation under a mound in Pakistani Punjab People already know that and usee to call that Mound as ( Dheri Shahan) it's meaning is mound of kings It was city of Ancient india The city from where Hindhus were ruleing and teaching the the world through university I was from where buddhism spread to Afghanistan,China and Tibet It was the city of Alexandar's favorite list he also constructed some parts of city with Hellenic style city saw Greeks , Scythians,Huns, mauryans, kahans,Turks, afghan , Sikh , British and modern Pakistan rule Even near to my village there is still a mound but when villagers try to excavate and try to pick something paranormal activities occur
Yes I discovered later the whole site has been re-buried under soil as a way of preserving it. In one way that's a shame because it would have been amazing to see. However some of the artefacts from the site are now at the museum. It's incredible to see clay pots and figurines crafted by human hands so many thousands of years ago.
A hoax! Didnt you check with the tourism authorities or somebody before landing in the midst of nowhere and treating yourself to this ear-splitting obnoxious noise being passed on as music. In north India, remember to demand, otherwise they impose their "culture" on visitors. Should have told the driver to switch off the music. Otherwise they assume that the other person has taken a liking to their beats. Probably the civilization also decided to disappear at the first onslaught of this music.
India can be spectacular as well with Snow Capped Mountains, Glaciers, Cold Desert, Canyons, Gorges, Caves, Waterfalls, Hills, Plateaus, Beaches, etc. as well. It depends what you choose to explore in this vast subcontinental size country. I am sure there are frustrating places in every country that's include Australia and equally Wonderful Stunning places as well in same country. It's all about proper knowledge and unbiased optics to visualize a country.
Some time we had to cover and rebury excavation sites to preserve them . Most probably something like that happen
Just a very important information: "KALIBANGAN" in the Philippines means TOILET. Thank you.
Mound of dirt

Yes it appears I was. Thanks for your suggestion 😊

You should've go to Gujarat for Harappan sites like lothal, dholaveera etc. They're still in their natural form
Or there is rakhigadhi village in haryana....where you can even touch the bones and sculptures of ancient bodies because there is no authority to take care of the security till now
Thanks for the suggestions. I’d love to see those sites next time I’m in India 😊

Thanks so much. It makes me wonder what else lies under those mounds of dirt.

People know that there used to be a village and city but now it's in dirt under soil
In Punjabi we call that mound as Theh
For example when the Taxila was found during excavation under a mound in Pakistani Punjab
People already know that and usee to call that Mound as ( Dheri Shahan) it's meaning is mound of kings
It was city of Ancient india
The city from where Hindhus were ruleing and teaching the the world through university I was from where buddhism spread to Afghanistan,China and Tibet
It was the city of Alexandar's favorite list he also constructed some parts of city with Hellenic style city saw Greeks , Scythians,Huns, mauryans, kahans,Turks, afghan , Sikh , British and modern Pakistan rule

India can be a frustrating place
It’s all part of the journey
Atleast no natives were bullied by Europeans here.. Oh I am sorry.. They were for 200 years. 🌝 then their asses were kicked out of the country..
