I still have three of these at my work. Have made hundreds of educational films with them. Solid workhorses. Together with Sennheiser wireless microphones, the other solid workhorses, you cannot go wrong. Never fails. I love them. My first grab when work is on. Have two more modern and high class Sony cameras avaliable too. I always choose the AG-AC90. (More by the fact, that I know that camera, almost as a friend) The AG-AC90 is still going strong. A lovely machine. That's my thoughts.
Are the rings on the lens mechanical or electronic ? In other words, do they control the lens directly or do they control the motors that actually moves the lens ? Thanks. BTW, good short video review.
It DOES have a variable built in ND filter, but its not very strong (maybe 2 stops). Most users are having to buy an external ND2 or ND3 to compensate for bright daylight. I recommend when considering an ND to either get a hot mirror and/or ND's with IR in them or you will get red on you black cloth. The internal ND could use a hot mirror also.
Great review. However, can I get clean uncompressed video and audio through the HDMI output for live streaming? Really need to know before I make a purchase.

hi again, i finally order a Panasonic AG AC30. I see that they sell a carrying bag for the panasonic but it cost over $100. Do you know of a website where I can buy at a low cost. thx
Investing in a solid and reliable case or bag for your professional camcorder is a very good idea. You want to make sure your camera is safe when transporting it. The Arco Dr Bag 20 is a great choice, it is reasonably priced, gives you a nice amount of room and is very reliable. bhpho.to/2EDSILp Thanks! -Joey P.
Got a few questions, 1) can I do slow motion with this? for example, a bride throwing a bouquet. 2) how does it go against say the Panasonic AG AC8 or the Sony HXR NX70 or even the Panasonic AG HMC150 ?. Lastly could you do weddings with it? Thank you, I await your reply.
The Panasonic AG-AC90 shoots 60P, so it can do 50% slo-mo. It is higher quality than the AC8, similar quality to the NX70, and the HMC150 will be slightly higher quality, but is an older model. |Heather S|
would you recommend this camera for someone that has only used very basic cameras? I have been looking to buy this camera as an introductory camera to further my journey into videography. The AG-AC90 is essentially an entry-level pro camera that will allow you to grow and earn while you learn.. As such, it is has an easy learning curve and intuititve controls and layout. I have a question regarding this camera that I haven't been able to solve by myself and I can't find the answer in the manual either. Is it possible to connect 2 different audio sources to the XLRs inputs 1 and 2, and then get the camera to mix this 2 sources as mono? I want to have mono audio out from any of the connections (hdmi, av, etc.) of the cameras. The situation is as follows: Usually I stream lectures and I plug a wireless receiver from a lavalier mic (the lecturer) in input 1 and also a shotgun mic set on top of the camera goes to input 2. Then I introduce the hdmi output of the camera into my laptop (via a capture card) and I get stereo audio with the lavalier mic on one side and the shotgun mic on the other side. I would like to have those two channels mixed... is it possible?

B and H I understand but I think I didn't explain myself clearly. Right now, if I plug in two audio sources, each of these to one of the two xlr inputs I get (from the hdmi out) a stereo output with input 1 from the xlr on one side (L) and input 2 on the other (R). Then I enter this mix to my laptop with a capture card. The problem is that the the sources are separated between channel 1 and 2, and I would like to have them mixed, this is, having both sound from xlr 1 and xlr2 on channel L and R from the hdmi out. The ND filter is not strong enough to adequately handle a sunny day, and image sharpness will suffer as the iris closes down...so AC90 users need to have a ND filter ready to mount on the lens to keep the iris and image sharpness in the sweet spot.

Professional means you get paid for what you do. A plumber is a professional worker. My Dad taught me this when I was 12 years old. She said this is a semi-professional camera. That means it's for people who semi get paid for their work. That reminds me of when I worked at a Pizza Hut. I semi got paid for a very demanding job. Delivering pizzas when the weather was 11 degrees below zero was a real drag! I don't like this video. She drops a lot of jargon without explaining what all those term mean.
The camcorder is semi professional in terms of video options, but any person could work independently with this cam and the be called "professional", not for the camcorder, for their work and the pay he receives. So even if you think it is unprofessional, think no one out there with $150 million in equipment to record a wedding.

For the money, it would be difficult to obtain a lens that will offer you better performance. Your skateboarding footage should look awesome! Please contact us via e-mail if you have additional questions: askbh{at}bandh{dot}com. Mark S.
Would it have been too much trouble to tell us the price of this camera? Geez!!
Please click the link above for current pricing - prices change from time to time, so we don't mention prices within the videos themselves. Thanks for your interest!

Dont listen to her shes being a perfect salesman, that lense is NOT a good choice for skateboarding. You will have to check out the Opteka site for good fish-eyes of that size that are good for skateboarding. Otherwise go to the Schneider Optics site and go to the Century section. Those are the best lenses for a fish-eye look.
still cant believe that its cheaper than my D800!
