Here's the deal. I understand if Dennis is the quiet type and gets with a girl who's talkative. I've seen that relationship with my Dad (quiet) and Mom (talks a lot). The thing is that one, my Dad does speak up for himself and others. Two, my Mom doesn't berate my Dad, but praises him even though she does find his stuff silence on certain things to be annoying.
Dennis should have at least made an attempt to speak. Even if that meant speaking over his ex, that would've given a girls an idea of who he was (maybe even see a few of the flaws his ex has) instead of having his ex paint a pic of him. Idc if the relationship ended mutually, they had 2 years with each other and just broke up. Those feelings don't go away after a month of being single. As you guys said, she was sabotaging him and he allowed it.

It helps determine which girls would be the most willing to see him again once the video ends. In other types of videos after choosing a lineup of people to speed date they’ll ask them if they would like to leave or stay based on their attraction to the person, since it would be kind of pointless to get to the final girl and she just says she’s not really attracted to him.

Yeah i found that question odd. It does speak to how she views him. I really dont think shes so enlightened that she thought it would help her eliminate those not interested. I had a debate with somebody about why can't an LGBTQ+ character be more than their sexuality? This was about Katie from The Mitchells vs. The Machines who was queer, but had so many other things going on the movie, it wasn't the main focus of the story.

You can be optimistic but realistic. It makes sense that people sometimes conflate optimism with naiveté and unwavering energy, but thats not necessarily what it is.
For example from myself, I had a Lisfranc injury in my foot. Realistically I will probably have increasing arthritis my whole life. My day to day life will be different and on a larger scale I may not be able to do things I love like martial arts. However, I am optimistic that if I put in the work to rehabilitate it, then I do have a chance of a full recovery or at least things not being as bad as they could be. Being optimistic/ realistic also means that even if my foot is trashed, my life isn't over because there is more out there for me.
Encourage positivity and welcome it, but stay away from naiveté.

The amount of burdens and responsibilities that are asked of young men is heavy and burdensome. The suicide rate of men is exponentially higher than women. Women don’t have it easy but they definitely don’t have it as hard as men.
