    Thank you, I just bought a used Acura TLX and was scared of replacing the battery. Thought I’d search it up before attempting it and found the right video.

    Hey Man,
    Thanks for keeping the fluff out of the video. It’s nice to see a DIY video like this. I have a 2019 TLX SH-AWD and my battery gave out in our -6deg temps

    Thanks Jeff. Wanted to see exactly what needed to be undone for this. This was perfect.

    Thanks for posting this! Failing auto idle stop along with random failures of seat adjusting when starting the car were early signs that my battery was on the way out for my 2015 TLX. Needing a jump in the cold weather was the last straw. And thanks so much for dropping the bracket! Learning from you, I made sure to hold onto the brackets as I removed the nuts and had no problems.
    A tip for anyone else replacing their battery: hooking a portable starter onto the terminals before removing them (I used a Stanley SS4LS portable jump starter), avoids the hassle of the nav & radio getting reset. You just need to be careful to keep the terminal from touching anything as you work. I used some string and small spring clamps to hold the terminals out of the way as I changed the battery and didn't disconnect the portable power bank until the terminals were secured onto the new battery.

    The bane of everyone's existence. Parts falling into the hood of the car.

    So when I put the battery cover on there’s a little gap where the positive is at, is that okay? Does the positive connecter have to be all the way to the bottom of the positive part of the battery ?

    • @jeffferritto
      @jeffferritto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes all the way to the bottom

    I still cannot figure out why a battery needs a fan, or even cooling...

    • @bradleymeyer9775
      @bradleymeyer9775 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could figure out how to take it out of that casing, and I didn’t to tamper with the cooling fan because I’m most supposed to, I had to explain to the person that I don’t know how to remove this properly because I have never seen this before, and Acura tech, or some who is a bit more mechanically inclined then me who has done these before will. Then I was still thinking to myself about it, which is why I found this, but how does the lid of that battery casing come off. I’m not used to this My 4 cylinder Camry is more simple, and most cars aren’t designed like that.

    I put a napa agm battery. Noticed there is a vent hole on the side. Does that need any kind of tube connection? It's same car as in video

    • @jeffferritto
      @jeffferritto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no. Mercedes cars will have a tube that connects its fine without

    I wish my 9th Accord had that fan setup in it for the battery. That in itself is cool. I wound up putting an AGM in my Accord just because even Accords have a good amount of technology, and I'd rather have the power overhead.
    Great video!

    Does the code get permanently bypassed by pressing the power button? Or will you need to do this every time you startup the car

  • @tonglu2391
    @tonglu2391 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jeff, just wondering if i have a 2016 tlx with tech package, do i have to use an AGE battery? I got the one from from costco but not the AGM one, not sure if this will impact the Idle Stop system.
    Appreciate for your answer in advance

    • @jeffferritto
      @jeffferritto  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am pretty sure you need one for proper working of components. The car has a lot of electronics and start stop functioning witch an agm batt. Helps with since it's like a deep cycle.

    Is there codes you have to have after replacing the battery?

    • @jeffferritto
      @jeffferritto  4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      If your radio wants a 5 digit code to work again, just press and hold the "radio power" button ( top left) for three seconds

    • @galfert
      @galfert 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@jeffferrittoso you're saying that if it asks for a code that instead you can hold the power button down for 3 seconds and that satisfies it?

    Any sort DTC that need to be cleared from Ecu after doing battery replacement on one of these? I work for a Chrysler dealership, and on those cars, you can't just REPLACE the battery. It essentially freaks out the ECU for some reason and you have to go in there and tell it the battery has been replaced.
