Agree totally on the point from Jamie on the loan market from the PL. RE made the point in his recent 3CR interview he had a huge bank of contacts. Surely Pep for example might have forwarded us one or two players.
Also the squad looks imbalanced with a lack of wide options now we have sold Ogbene and let Townsend go.
You’ guys are absolutely right, the walk doesn’t align with the talk. This is about situational leadership and we still seem stuck in lower league stance. Things did change when we got Prem promotion and we haven’t taken that opportunity and I think we could look back and regret it. There was either a lack of ambition or insight. Some think it is disloyal to criticise 2020 after the great stuff they did and are still doing. It isn’t, just like the players the Board are human. And they haven’t cut the mustard this window. That’s hardly a matter of opinion, it’s a fact. It’s a nonsense and a poor excuse to talk about getting sucked in. We’re not in the business of being a bank attracting cash deposits - good thought on considering bringing in an experienced Director of Football. There also looked there may have been a bit of conflict, or at least inadequate communication, between the club’s coaching and the executive areas. And in a small organisation, which is what Luton is, thats inexcusable.
Absolutely need Jacob Brown back ASAP...... Hoping we go 4 3 3 after the break, Bell, Mengi, McGuinness and Walters the back 4, Nakamba, Baptiste and new German boy Kraus in midfield, Adebayo, Morris and Chong up front, Doughty on the bench until he finds his form again which I have no doubt (pardon the pun) he will. 🎉
Wpukd be nice for sweet to jump on talksport or a podcast and explain our dirextion of travel.. new stadium. I cannot agree more that we have not used the loan matket well enough. If top clubs want players developed.. look no further than a club whos brought championship and league 2 players into yhe premier league! They should be calling us asking us to take players as man city did with kabore.
Yes I give it a 6 I think we couldn't done better in the transfer
Have we actually received the parachute payment yet? My understanding is that we don't receive the money until next year. Our payments will total £80 mil over 3 years assuming we're not promoted. If we had of survived last season and had been relegated this instead, it would have been £210 mil. With the club wanting to minimise debt on the new stadium, that's where most of the money is going.
As for not 'competing' re transfer fees, I doubt the issue was the fee. Far more likely that we couldn't/wouldn't match the wage demands. We've also our 'no dickheads' policy. That probably cuts out 50% of our options!
We received £43m this summer.
@@AdamDriscoll92 Thanks. I'm unable to find anything that actually states a date other than it being in 2 instalments and that's from another cub saying half is paid in January.
I think you’re right. Although that being said, how many transfers are paid 100% cash up front? ^JC
We brought some quality in no doubt about that and possibly some good young prospects kept players I thought we would sell Chiedozie good price 6/10
It was going to be harder to recruit this window. We are not in the prem so not so attractive. In the champ we are mid table for players wanting to play for us. I think Mick Harford has done a great job not like what some people say on here. Lack of ambition some people say but 6 first team players is not lack of ambition. To sign you have to get rid of players. The only one that was not replaced was Ogbene as he was last minute sale just before the window closes. Great business but no replacement as of yet.
We have 2 spaces to fill maybe from free agents who dont have a club we will see.
It usually comes down to money and promotion chances in the Championship. With the squad we had before any additions, plus our financial advantage, we should have been one of the more attractive Championship propositions for players. But if you don't go after them...
Couldn't disagree more about Walsh, think he is a great addition
Finley and I were quite complimentary of Walsh! 8:47
Entitled to your opinion. I hope he shows me something I'm not expecting and becomes a key player.
Poor window - again. The second tier podcast - unbiased - put our window in the bottom 3 of the champs. Really underwhelming and puzzling. Lot of empty excuses. Selling Ogbene for 8m was good business but only if he was replaced.
