Last year I drove 300+ kilometres from France to see him live in the cathedral in Lleida in Spain. People around me were in tears at the beauty of his performance. that does not happen very often....if you get the chance to see him grab it with both hands.
To see the entire crowd from small children to senior citizens all quiet and totally immersed in the journey Estas is going on is a truly beautiful experience.
I saw Estas perform in a small village in Wales at the first ever festival the village had. I went alone and sat at the back of the tent. His music that night made me smile, cry and yet feel totally at peace. Afterwards i went to thank him and never actually said much...but he just smiled and we hugged. I hope that one day soon I will get the chance to hear his music live once more.
what a beautiful, in-depth, commentary! estas tonne is indeed a master of his art. someone, in the comment section of one of estas' golden dragon renditions, said he IS the golden dragon. and this is so true... i would add only this: we are golden dragons too, but we don't know it. having goose bumps, or crying listening to this out-of-this-world song proves that we begin to remember... through his music, estas tonne reminds us we are golden dragons too.
I don't think he wrote down anything what he plays. Would just be unnecessary ballast for his life as troubadour, travelling throughout Europe, appearing in another city each day, like here somewhere in a german pedestrian area.
If you want to have something new as well, look for "Asha Hang" (th-cam.com/video/hXSIdDaTGhA/w-d-xo.html) It is amazing what she can do on in principle a refined steel drum, and she is just sitting around here in Munich. I know exactly where, it is the Hofgarten of the Munich residence palace. Funny sidenote: in Munich she is officially not allowed to play, because technically this is a percussion instrument, and those are not allowed to be played in pedestrian areas.
As the Irish poet and author, Oscar Wilde, said, "Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." I would never have noticed all the cool details of his wonderful playing...loving how entranced the audience is, too, even the children.
One day you go out and film an artist, here on street in your home town, like dozend times before and it creates a big impact. Thanks for some very interesting explanations and insights on Estas unique play. On 10th anniversary I show a making of about that and why the video is how it is.
I really appreciate your job, i see many people that say worst thing but they can not appreciate that if u don't record that, we don't have a high quality of that moments. Thanks you very much ^^ have a good week

Glad to finally see Estas Tonne get more recognition!! I recommend you listen to, (In your free time) to his album "Internal Flight" which contains only one song. Its a one hour song that will take you places. Easily my favorite album of all times. I saw him live last year in San Diego, CA and the amount of tears that I shed that day is beyond me.
I've been listening to Estas or Jesus as some people call him , on and off for years and really enjoy his music. I didn't know you reviewed this type of artist, so happy you did Estas. Thank you.
Estas Tonne is a touring musician. His early street playing launched his artistry and fan following. For me his music is pure magic. Saw him in concert, very special.
So glad you featured Estas, Love it when he switches from playing the melody line from the trebles to the bass lines. I've followed Estas for years now, what a guitarist! Thanks for this gem Fil.
I requested the song a while back I'm so happy you did an analysis of Estes tone. What an amazing talent. I remember the first time I heard him play I was totally hooked I think it was the positive energy and vibes he puts out. Besides being an amazing classical guitarist he's a very interesting person his interviews are very soothing soft-spoken a very beautiful soul. He was a gypsy street performer for a long time. In an interview he said he was arrested in a lot of different countries for playing music on the streets. I saw him for the first time in Los Angeles he played to a completely sold out Stadium
This is my favorite of Estas' videos - it was the first one I saw of him, and of all the ones I've watched, I still think this is the best. Got to see him in concert too - just incredible! Not to be missed! By the way, his name is pronounced with a short "e" at they beginning of this first name and then an "ay" sound at the end of his last, so "Ehs-tas Ton-nay".
Man, whenever I see a TH-camr who hearts every single comments in his comment section, I gotta give you a sub and a like. You are a committed and wonderful content creator and we need more people like you. I'm still a novice at guitar, and your videos give me a phenominal inspiration man, keep up the good work!
I've watched and listened to a great manyof Estas' videos - he has a very personal and unique way of playing the guitar. I love it. He is not only a busker, he has given a great many concerts too. He invariably has an incense stick burning on his guitar''s headstock - I have not seen one video of him without the incense stick. He is a profoundly spiritual man.
To be able to discover such talent is such a gift. I have been fortunate to witness some amazing musicians. This gentleman is as good as it gets. I suffered through the “disco years “. It was a kind of pain that isn’t describable. Without you teaching about such diverse artists as this man, I would have missed a beautiful part of my life. Thank you Sir very much. Peace
Dynamic performance from Estas, and you Fil are so detailed and precise in your appreciation & deep insights. A joy to watch both of you. Well done !!!
Your point about artistry being more than mere technical skill is SO on target. And very well placed here. Some musicians just seem to have a 'presence' that completely goes beyond what they are playing. It is a truly wonderful thing to be caught up in.

Thank you for the insightful comments. I really like Estas’ performance and the way he performed. Just so happy to see your comment from a professional’s view.
I had never heard of Estas Tonne, so thank you again for bringing new music into my life. This is so beautiful. I have a friend who is learning to play classical guitar and I've shared this analysis video with him.
Magnificent analysis on an artist who has developed a unique sound all his own. Estas perhaps lacks formal training, but I'm actually grateful that he simply followed his heart to produce such an entrancing and soulful way to express himself; with no need to restrict himself to more conventional, or expected musical constructs. I know, as a guitarist, I will never be able to play like him. I also know he could never emulate me, nor would he ever want to. This is when we both would cease to be artists and more simply performers. His right hand's ability is able to overcome what he lacks in his left. His left hand ability does not have the schooling that many famous guitar players may have, but I promise they wish they had the fire Estas Tonne has in his right hand, and how he can bring out what is in his soul.. Thanks Fil.
It made me happy watching you have the same facial expressions I had the first time I watched and listened to this video of him performing. Thanks for giving such a detailed analysis of his playing.
Unique and incredibly talented artist! Feels what he is playing to his soul. True art! I love this!♥️ Over the years l have seen some phenomenal street performers doing their thing. Impressive as hell. Excellent video and analysis Fil! Thanks! 😎🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
Thank you for spotlighting yet another artist that is lesser known (at least in the US). He certainly does talk through his guitar and the captivated children's faces say it all. Music really IS the international language, crossing physical, linguistic, and emotional borders to communicate at a deep human level. (TH-cam is such a great resource. I hope they leave it alone.)
Fantastic observation Fil. Crazy good!! Masterful. And he has incense burning up at the tuning pegs LOL. Imagine coming upon this, walking along. A free street concert by Estas. Mind bend.
I need more of his playing. This is fabulous. I could listen to this all day. This almost had me asleep. No disrespect to Estas or you Fil. I'm such a sever insomniac, it like my highest compliment. 💜Love this, great analysis Fil 🤘Rock!
I LOVE this guy. Thanks so much for reviewing him, Fil. He's the Greek Jesus of guitar. What a talent! I loved that you point out his uniqueness - and that that is what's great about individual talent - not to be copied - maybe just so inspirational.
The effort required to play like this on an acoustic guitar is a sight to behold. One of my most memorable concert experiences was seeing Paco de Lucia play live for 90 minutes with no intermission. It was breathtaking, my own hands were tired just from watching him.
Awesome analysis Fil!! Thanks so much for this one! been listening to Estas Tonne for a few years now and he is amazing, captivating, mesmerizing, so soulful and inspiring! I love what you say about just be yourself not trying to be someone else and see where you go.
Beautiful music. Estas is so talented and plays with so much passion. You can see Estas's playing captures the attention of the little children as well, that's impressive. He never gets tired and that piece he is playing would definitely take all your energy out of you. A great detailed analysis as always Fil, you even got the incense burning. Nothing gets by Fil. A true guitarist will create their own sound to express themselves musically. It maybe made up of little parts of the great guitarists but it will sound unique to the ears.
I have to admit that I was not aware of this artist - now I'm a fan! Thanks Fil and those requesting Estes for introducing him to me. The stick on nails idea is a good one, when I studied classical guitar back in the 70s I had a lot of problems with chipped and broken nails. Arthritis permitting, I want to take up classical again in the next few years, so stick on nails could be a great help. Another artist you could consider, Fil, is Egberto Gismonti - an innovative guitarist and pianist. There are a number of videos on YT of him playing live; especially good are those where he performs with his long time collaborator, Nana Vasconcellas. Thanks, as always, Fil, for an insightful and informative analysis.
Very insightful and enjoyable analysis! Thank you so much! You are spot-on; it's all about the beautiful soul melodies that you can only produce if you fly on your own path, not trying to please others or be someone else. It's only then that you can invite other souls to fly along with you. 😊👍
What a rousing performance to start my day with!!! Fil I hadn't heard of Estas, but so glad you did this analysis. Like so many incredible artists, he is channelling it directly from the Divine. That's not to take anything away from him or his technical ability. More that he's tapped into this realm of magical co-creation to produce something so soul-stirringly unique and extraordinary. What a shame that the camera person didn't visually capture the dramatic parts of the song. Would have been amazing to watch his entire performance. Love the incense stick too, which would have aided his channelling. Sandalwood is used extensively for meditation and connection with Source.
I think I like your analysis and effusiveness as much if not more than the performance itself! Hadn’t heard of this artist before, thanks for the introduction 👍

I always learn from your great analysis .. Dynamics... All i have is my own spin on it ... Ken's thunder fingers.. 😄...
Estas is great... I definitely need more work... He is violent... Thanks teach Brotherrrrr
Fil, thanks so much! ART IS WHERE YOU FIND IT.
I just see wild horses riding into sunset on a beach. This guy is amazing! 🎸🙌🏻
I had this guy on my playlist ,it’s insane . Beautiful.
THATS THE BEAUTY OF IT HE IS JUST BEING HIMSELF!!!
WOW! I got a little misty eyed, beautiful playing.
That was a fantastic performance. Fil no one could ever accuse you of being monotone. When you speak of the artistry of a performer you definitely get animated. Thanks great show
