- There are more Changing breeds than the Garou in the World of Darkness. Rokea, the Weresharks, and Mokolé, the Weresaurians, are some of the oldest creatures on this planet, and they have existed since long before Caine slew his brother, or the gates of Arcadia closed to the Fae.
In this video, I will try to give a brief overview of both the Rokea and Mokolé, explaining some bits about their society as well as their outlook on lives, the War of Rage, and the Garou.
Thank you to Adam Daw for requesting this video. I hope you enjoyed it and that I managed to capture the true horror of this cataclysmic event.

Imagine my face when I read about it.
All I gotta say who ever is the actual creator is, they had way too much time on their hands
Would it be better or worse if those smart dinosaurs were originally from Mars? Because they might have been from Mars.
Mars once was a world similar to Gaia but it was consumed by an Apocalypse much like the one of its sister world is facing.
It could be a coincidence and there were in fact two civilizations wiped out by the Wyrm or there were sentient dinosaurs on Mars.

The Rokea are badass!
Pentex continues to dump their toxic sludges into the Weresharks domain, and the Rokea would do well to change their attitudes towards the surface dwellers for aid, far too savage and proud.
Sadly they are as, if not more, stubborn than the Garou on these matters.
@@ThePrimogen True I remember during a 2nd edition campaign I was a part of my Fianna Ahroun character got into an argument with a Rokea warrior with my character stating "You can't ignore the Apocalypse forever, you can't ignore the fact that Pentex is polluting your sacred oceans along with destroying the land that The Wyrm is corrupting everything land, sky, and sea, and when it's destroyed us and the land it'll come for you and the sea so aid us now to fight a common enemy once the land is the destroyed the sea is next and by then it'll be to late, and you'll be fighting a nigh-unstoppable enemy by yourselves." And the Rokea Warrior scoffed at her stating "This so called apocalypse is a Not-Sea problem not ours. You're a dumbass for thinking that your destruction and the destruction of the Not-Sea is a omen that this Wyrm will destroy the sea cause unlike the Not-Sea and you furballs we Rokea and the Sea aren't pathetic weaklings." and left. Let's just thank goodness the Shadow Lords Philidox in the party was able to keep me calm otherwise that Rokea warrior would've gotten turned into fillets.
"Far too savage and proud" about sums up any shifter you care to name, it is why they are dying out and the Black Spiral is inevitably winning.

Yeah, I think he's Hengeyokai and the Same-Bito don't mind breeding with humans.

@@nicholaswhitman4620 sadly camazotz are wiped out and their tribal totem Bat is partially corrupted and due to reproducing in a similar way to corax they can’t use an absurd long line of kinfolk to come back either
However, spirit voodoo and time wizards could perhaps bring them back

I have wanted to learn about both the Rokea and Mokole but I could never find them time to read the books and my friend who adores the mokole did a poor job explaining them.

I'm pretty sure he mispronounced both names. mo-KO-lei he's stressing it wrong (as far as I've always heard it. His pronunciations drive me crazy sometimes, he pronounces the J in the english fashion instead of using the hispanic H. It's Bru-ha, not Ja.

If you're going by the creature that the Mokolé Mbembe is based from (a dinosaur still living deep in some part of Africa) , it's actually Mo-kee-lay M'bem-bey.

Those will come soon, I hope! The changing breed will be covered along the way with Werewolf, but Mage I think I will continue with further ahead. It's a little hard to predict, the problem with Mage for me is that the Meta plot is a bit dense and difficult to summarize, not quite as succint as Vampire.

An interesting debate about Mokolés took place here in Brasil, back in the golden days of tabletop. Someone, probably from Sampa (São Paulo city, a place where a lot of people living there usually presume the world stars and ends), had the idea to criticize the "dinosaurs in Amazonia Forest", because, allegedly, "there are no crocodiles in Amazonia!". They only exist in the Pantanal de Mato-Grosso, here is Brasil.
Well, I will NOT enter the merit of whether or not the information about crocodiles is objectively true or not. Neither I will point to the fact that if it is true would still not prevent Mokolés who have crocodiles as kinfolk to migrate and stablish themselves more to the North. Not all places where Werewolves live have wild wolfs nearby, certainly.
What calls my attention is the fact that Mokolés are presented as having more animal relatives than just crocodiles and jacarés. There are a great variety of lizards making the trees of Amazonia their home. And lizards are kinfolk for Mokolés.
Beyond that, tartarugas, jabutis, tracajas, muçuãs, matamatas, are all Mokolé kinfolk. And all of them exist in Amazonia. "A dar com pau, puxar com rodo", as we say in Portuguese.
So, there are no actual dinosaurs (goes without saying) nowadays. In (arguably) real world. Nevertheless, there are more than enough animal relatives to justify a huge variety of different Mokolé types in Amazonia.
Don't think I would find many players choosing jabuti or tracaja , etc, as their animal form. Even if I had the chance to play a lot of Mokolé-only adventures. Don't imagine those would be a very attractive option in terms of game mechanic. For NPC's I believe it could work nicely. Doesn't really matter, of course, if no player chooses those cousins to be their closest relatives. They remain part of Mokolé family.

Seeing as the Rokea prefer not to have werewolves in the ocean, I wonder how they would respond if a Garou was born from a pack of coastal wolves on Vancouver Island?

Does anyone know how to start writing a WoD chronicle? I love the lore but I have no idea how to set up the story and balance the encounters.

I had the breedbook back in the day for Mokole. I personally found them a fascinating alternative in the changing breed, especially as their Archid form gains new traits as the Mokole gains Gnosis.
My thought pattern was identical. Then I realized that the writer of Rokea said that the weresharks are always horny when they're on land.
I say "forget werewolves! If you have a computer game company and you can secure the rights to make a World of Darkness title: go for Mokolé! Back in the days when I played tabletop RPG I heard an amazing number of times the question "CAN I PLAY WITH A MOKOLÉ?" from werewolf players. Answer (do not ask me why) was, always, "no". A lot of repressed demand for this title.

It doesn't help their chances that the Garou STILL kill them for wearing the Wyrm's face and spreading its lies. I also love that, according to Shattered Dreams, the Mnesis isn't a needed duty bestowed by Gaia. The memory is a curse upon the whole breed, who she hates, for causing the Great Dying. This means that they deserve what the Garou do to them, even if the Garou arrived at the truth through ignorance rather than understanding. I approve of this. The game is WereWOLF, so the Fera, while fun, should be meaningless where Gaia's survival goes.
Hahahahahahahahaha! You do know the wolves' genocide of the other shifters is why Gaia is dying, right? They _cannot_ fulfilling the vital roles they destroyed and themselves serve very little purpose, the true saviors and protectors of Gaia were exterminated by these idiots and with their death was sealed the Wyrm's victory.
