You are such a beautiful person and explain all so very well. All the info you’ve provided is the very best and you have helped me immensely to choose the right course for my autistic son. One more thing you could add is that some of these curriculums offer a discount for active, retired and prior military families. Thank you again. I’ve watched many great presentations and yours is the best! God bless you.
Thanks for your encouragement friend! There are a lot of curricula that offer these discounts, you're right. There's so much info I could add, but I'll keep that in mind for a future video. Thanks for the tip!
"If you want patience you have to pray for it", love that! I don't know anyone who started off homeschooling with loads of patience. God is gracious and blesses us with more of it over time. He is patient with us! ❤
Love this video, thank you! I do take issue with the idea that ACE is too easy - I agree that probably the elementary levels that may be the case, however their English program is really good imo and quite challenging in the highschool levels, and set me up well for college. Same with highschool math. Every other subject I don't have great things to say about, but the math and English at higher levels were fine.
We didn't do the higher levels. I'm glad you found them to be good. I guess this was just our experience. My friends also swapped from ACE to another curriculum because it was too easy. But we only used primary school grades. Again, that was 25 years ago, so things could have been updated since then. Thanks for commenting friend.
Christian liberty Academy has a full curriculum and is cheaper than Abeka but uses some Abeka books. We now use core knowledge curriculum which is free and some Acellus but we get some Christian books from CLA
Watch out for core knowledge. They have some weird blurb stating that they will capitalize black and use the lower case for white. That’s a big CRT red flag.
Hi Rebekah! Thank you for this insightful video! I love all of them, they are so helpful for me when I’m picking a new curriculum. I have Spasmodic Dysphonia, a vocal condition where a lose my voice on average of 7 days every month. It’s very complicated for me to homeschool trying to use hand gestures when my kids are 6 and under. Is there a program that has both videos and I could teach, until I can’t teach, then go back to videos? 😅 I want to teach them myself but do need that extra help. I know BJU has the DVD’s, would I have to buy them and the teach it yourself version?
Hey friend. Nice to chat again. If you get the DVD version I'm pretty sure you get PDF access to the teachers manuals. But you wouldn't need it with the DVDs. If you have any questions, message Sharon who is from the company and she can help you. sfisher@preceptmarketing.com Your vocal condition sounds aweful. How do you manage to do your TH-cams?
@@howtohomeschoolGreat, thank you for that information! I’ll reach out to her. I have not filmed since early January, these vocal spasms have overtaken my life in many ways for over 2 years now. I’m praying for healing and holding onto Jesus in the process. ❤
Thanks so much, I was looking at BJU but I was put off :( because it said I had to return the dvds!? Is this not the case? What’s the difference between Abeka and BJU, and why do you prefer it? Would really appreciate your thoughts. X
Around 2.5 hrs of formal education for grade 1 with BJU Homeschool. We do LOTS of informal stuff though like bible and narration and questioning in the morning. I love it and they do. Just happens kind of naturally. In the afternoon they listen to audiobooks while playing, colouring, doing lego. Luke works on his succulent business and does odd jobs around the house (takes clothes off and on the line, takes bins out, soccer, swimming). So all up if counting everything 6-7 hrs of homeschooling... but it's not intensive for me. In fact, I run my blog, two websites, care for my hubby and kids and exercise, eat healthy, pray and read bible (on my own in the mornings). I always ask God to help me because they are full days, haha. But totally worth it. You don't have to do everything I do, but that's what our day looks like.
I did a couple of detailed reviews on the course, but I've never used it in our homeschool. I have a bit of a disability which means I can't sit down for ages next to the kids.

Thank you for your wisdom 🙏
My pleasure...or my rant 🤣

Ahh...interesting. I noticed CLA is a bit of a favorite in high shcool.

Whoa...I didn't know you had to return them! I'll chase that one up. Thanks for letting me know.
@@howtohomeschool Hi there at Abeka you have to return the dvd aswell beacuse I have been with the for a few years.
Thanks for your info. Can you tell me how long it usually takes for your kids to do school a day?

So you no longer use A Gentle Feast?
