Hiya Paul ☺️ Considering IBIS hotels are supposed to be budget hotels your price was very expensive. I suppose they justify charging a single person more because the rooms can accommodate two people and the cleaning and upkeep costs amount to the same. However you would definitely expect the kettle to be spotless and lamps to be functional. I wouldn't mind sharing the cost with someone else but I wouldn't find it worth it at all as a solo traveller. The view was unappealing though I guess it depends on your reason for travelling it might suit business people better. Brekkie looks good and glad to hear the staff were good. Room and bathroom were great, nice style and clean. Thank you for this excellent review x
Price for 2 people not bad for a city centre hotel. As a solo traveller, I would not pay that amount. Hotel looks fairly basic, but may be in a good area if you need to be central.I have just returned from Southern Ireland, and was surprised how expensive most things are. Thanks for showing us another area.
Chatted with me partner and he stayed in Dublin and said the cost of b and b's and eating out was very expensive, he said you were better off getting food from the supermarket. Apparently Ireland is the 6th most expensive country in the world and costs are 16% higher than England and cost of living is as high as London prices. No wonder the hotel was on the pricey side, shame because Ireland is a beautiful place and I would love to travel from Belfast to Dublin to see the East coastline and countryside ❤️ x
Hi Penny sadly I really don't know what's going on with hospitality they look like they're on self-destruct prices they just don't justify themselves a concrete box in Belfast for over £120 b&b in the rain or a hotel in Spain with pool entertainment and half board for £80 lying in the sun, I know where I'm going x
Prices for everything in Dublin are crazy, you can pay over 10 euros for a pint !!, but that's in the Republic of Ireland, Belfast is part of the UK where prices are similar to any other UK city, much cheaper that in the Irish Republic.
Belfast's still much dearer than U.K. I got 5 nights Ibis Liverpool docks for £237 on Agoda July! Double room solo travel. Agree Republic is mainly extortionate1 night Sligo €237!@@trevorhalliday793
Paul you don't need show any ID in northern Ireland or Ireland unless you are not British then yes you do or unless they don't believe you sre British. Great video, keep then coming & I love all the videos you make.
Paul, don’t think I will ever be able to get over NO TOILET CHECK,what the hell is going on? Seriously though, absolutely love you posts.when you coming down to Brighton,Sussex?😀
Hi Paul excellent video of Belfast the look nice it was a bit expensive nut then again you will be in the city centre it looks nice Belfast i will have to visit the hotel room is nice for city break the beds look nice the bathroom looks great and the room as air conditioning which is great for the summer month's thanks Paul excellent video take care pal enjoy belfast thanks from Keith
Hi Paul, your in my wee home town, lived in Belfast for 52 years then moved down to Bangor County Down 7 years ago to be near Mum. Belfast City Centre is so so dear to stay at, stay a bit out of town and you would get accommodation for a lot cheaper. The public transport system is very good so access to and from town centre would be no problem. Failing that get the train to Bangor and call in for a coffee.
Hello Paul, i agree its not nice to have to pay more being a single occupant, i would love to go on a cruise but single supplement charges put me right of, i wouldn't pay it. Nice vlog thanks.
Love Belfast, excellent for a few days away.Have to agree with you Paul, hotels are getting really expensive there .Last time we went stayed at Lansdowne Hotel.A few miles out of city. However bus stop outside hotel. If you book direct get a free welcome drink and full Irish breakfast included, try there if you go again. We loved it.
It’s nice and clean looking Paul but I thought ibis was a more affordable hotel 😮 honestly it’s happening everywhere and getting to the point if your not a millionaire you just can’t afford to travel it’s just awful the prices! we live in Canada and it’s the same over here they are just trying to squeeze everything out of us, that’s my little rant! but Thanks for sharing as always love your videos 👍 take care until next time Pauline from Blackpool living in Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Paul, another video. Great insight Ivy's before covid and before they did this rebrand where they went to three different types of hotel and you've got Ibis budget which is a now they're cheap range. I miss styles which is their middle range and they're most expensive one which is and I think since they've done that they've actually priced themselves out of the market so to speak and it's all pretty much which whichever one of the free hotels you go on the rooms are pretty much similar. I think in the budget ones you don't get too coughing your room and there's no Cafe or restaurant till breakfast but there's no bar and then you get the full range of facilities at the main ibisp on. So I think ibiz every imagine themselves and they've done it even more since covid and they are going to be pricing themselves out of the market because a lot of people going afford to justify 162 lb a night
Hi Paul its a hotel that had refugees in it I was upgraded by ANDRAS HOUSE HOTELS GROUP ,they own holiday Inn which had refugees in it they spent nearly one million on refurbishment that's why the price is so high
Hi stayed there for 4 days 2 years ago with Newmarket holidays to see my beloved andre rieu its a nice hotel comfortable well positioned and for a chain the breakfast was nice xxxx
I stayed there July last year. I paid £167 for 2 nights, room only. Not too bad price for me, very expensive for you. There were several drunk people on the main street and several people passed out on drugs round the corner. I did mention them to a person in uniform (can't remember if was police etc) and he went to have a look but said it is difficult to help people that don't want to be helped. I liked the hotel and would stay again if the price was right.
Hi Paul. I originate from Belfast and have been back several times in recent years. I am due to visit at the start of October but would never consider booking an Hotel as the prices are well above what they should be for the quality of the hotel and the location. I also note the absence of potato farls and soda bread from your breakfast (that may be your choice) so would be disappointed if I was eating there. The last hotel I stayed at in Belfast was the Travelodge in the city centre and that was averaging £80 a night for a single room (in October) on an accommodation only basis. Now tend to look for an apartment or house (depending on the length of stay).
Thanks for covering the single occupancy thing. I was the 1 who asked about this aspect of things previously after my stay in York once where a 1 bed room in the loft seemed as much if not more than a double room. Seems it’s cheaper on your own, but at the same time it’s not when the cost is spread for 2 people. Bit of a catch 22 when a single traveller then. But again thanks for explaining that 🙂 I’ve only stayed in Belfast for a concert and saw the titanic exhibition. We stayed in a decent hotel just off ormeau road but I forget the name. The hotel was nice looking inside and out but its surroundings was blazoned graffiti and a quite rough looking road on a kind of council estate looking road. I definitely saw enough of Belfast the 1 time. …it was ok when just in and out of it the next day. 😂 I think if I single occupied a room next time, I’d get a double room rather than be shoved up in the loft in a single room. I think my York experience was that I just knocked on the door, had “my own expensive little single room”, but then also had a charge for single occupancy in general as i clearly remember that it was on the paperwork that he made out when checking me in and felt a bit ripped off…. But I was given an actual “single room” with a single bed I suppose. so I think I got hit for everything that he could get out of me in York that time. 😂 …..the loft room barely even fit the single bed and had the slope of the roof at the foot of the bed as I remember. It was a proper rip off. 😂 Leigh (from Northwich)
If you going to be penalised for being single then check the double room rates often there only a few quid more as you say have the comfort why be shove in a single box room for the sake of £10 - £20
@@whoknowswhere exactly. ……as I say, I just randomly knocked on the b&b in York and said that I was on my own and just got shoved in the loft single room with the single traveller fee chucked on top, ….which is why I was asking how it works out as being single traveller in a double room if I ever stayed alone again. If I could turn back time I’d have told him I wanted a double room for the same price as the pokey cupboard in the loft at least 😂 It was along time ago now, but as he had a “single room” I didn’t feel that I even had a choice and wasn’t experienced enough to argue the toss a bit, but it seemed more expensive than any double room I’d ever been in at the time. ..which is why I never did it again 😂 But this explains how things work with single occupancy in places if I ever did it again. …..I wouldn’t ever accept a designated single room plus the single person fees again that’s for sure. …he proper had me off. 😂 Cheers.
Hi Paul great footage of hotel and your room as you say all city centres are pricing them selves out it's cheaper to go to Benidorm I wouldn't stay in Belfast
Hi Paul, The room was nice and clean, but I thought it was quite expensive. It's meant to be a budget hotel, £20 more than two ppl was a little steep. But thanks for the review.
Wow that’s a lot of money for an Ibis. But I noticed this myself when I was looking for hotels or B&Bs, they are too expensive. I usually take my van over on the ferry and stay in a lovely campsite at Larne…central for Belfast, especially with the train, and the top coast road which is beautiful. But looking at flying over there and doing hotel would be very expensive.
Would I pay that? Would I hell! 😂 To be fair, the room was nice, spotless and nicely decorated but no, far too expensive, especially for me as I'm also a solo traveller. It feels so unfair that we have to pay high, I wish hotels and others accommodations would knock the prices down a bit for us. And totally agree with regards to cheaper going abroad because it is and the weather would be better. I'm booking my Benidorm holiday for next year next week and I'm not paying inflated prices. Thanks for the review Paul.
I stayed in a Ibis budget in Krakow, never ever again, theres a reason why its a budget one, though I stayed in the normal one in Birmingham and that was fine.
There are some characters that hang about Castle Street/King Street during the day and night. It's like having your own live entertainment show out your window at times. 😂 Etap hotel a few hundred yards away on Dublin Road is a lot cheaper.
@@whoknowswhere A few mates from England and Scotland who I met over the years in Pattaya, Thailand, stayed in the Ibis when we were just coming out of lockdown. First timers to Belfast, think they enjoyed themselves.

Don't know why you had to pay that much. Advanced price is around £90 for 1 adult with Breakfast.
