I picked up the SRD recently. It looks good, but while it mentions the effects of armour and how it can degrade, etc, it doesn't actually give any armour ratings that I can find.

@@jcraigwilliams70 you would need to check some Year Zero systems to get a baseline.

@@CavernadoLekkis I suppose. It just seemed odd to include weapons but not armour.

@jcraigwilliams70, I get it. Each game has its own way of dealing with armor.

I have been ruminating about using YZMini to run a Vaesen solo game for weeks. I think YZMini would work perfectly for solo.

Indeed. I ran a one shot Forbidden Lands session and it was really good!

At 11:22 - why is that roll two successes?

For the Step Dice variation, to succeed with your action, you must roll 6 or higher on at least one base die used in the roll. A roll of 6 or higher is called a successl. A roll of 10 or higher on a single die (only possible with a D10 or D12) counts as two successes.

Is there a list somewhere showing what games use which dice mechanic version of the game?
Would it be true to say despite the use of the term Year Zero Engine, each game really is different and not using the same core rules?

The Year Zero SRD shows these two forks (dice pool and step dice).
As far as I remember, Twilight 2000 and Blade Runner are the only ones that use Step dice. All other games (Mutant Year Zero, Tales from the Loop, Alien RPG, Forbidden Lands Vaesen and the newest The Walking Dead Universal RPG) use Dice pool.
These games use the same core rules but they have their differences as well. Mutant Year Zero and Forbidden Lands have different dice pools for gear, attributes and skills. Alien RPG and The Walking Dead RPG use Stress dice....

Vaesen, Alien, Coriolis, Walking Dead are so similar that you really have to be careful as a gm to not mix things up when it comes to little differnces like conditions, Initative, Combat, Healing and pushing rules. You easily know what the core emchanics are about after learning one of this games once but the little differnces can make a huge differnce. So beware! Still Year Zero is my favorite engine at the moment

      @@svenk5221You are totally right.
Recently, I almost damaged a player on his strength in a The Walking Dead session. 😂
