Wow, those results were surprising. Glad to see your time and effort paid off in this one minus a couple games. Hopefully the err... "MacOS" project goes just as well.
If I can somehow figure out directx in this version of dosbox(it causes the entire screen to freeze on boot and makes horrible sounds), it might work, but even then, seeing how some of these basic 3d games ran, idk if Lego island has a chance on the 3ds
surprising that the games were functional on the ds but the it couldnt run mspaint anyways, good video, found myself laughing a few times and it was really interesting!
@@juh-roon lolll did I accidentally get a pirate copy of gta? I got it from the internet archive lol. Thinking back, that’s probably why the music or audio didn’t work
@metrabyte03 Back when internet speeds were ungodly slow for regular netizens, games had their movies and soundtrack ripped out to save space, with a music/sound add-on as a separate download. MYTH/CLASS/PDM,... Legendary non-ISO groups in the 90's and early 00's. Thanks for a blast from the past! :D
@@promaster424 its mostly down to the fact, the 3ds is trying emulate a whole x86 cpu before even thinking about running a whole os on top of that. It’s pretty cool that all of this stuff can run in here, especially since this version of dosbox is in extremely early stages of development
Wait. Did I misunderstand your last video? I thought you were going to play Windows games, specifically. If I'd known you were gonna open up the floor to DOS games, too, I would've given you an entire list! DOS games were my jam! And still are. Yo, _Tyrian,_ though~ But what in the _heck_ did you do to _Stunts?!_ I wasn't even aware that game _had_ a "text mode". That's kinda wild. Game runs extremely well, too. Want some custom tracks for it? I have a few dozen… (:
@@JoLiKMC nah you didn’t misunderstand, I overestimated this thing’s power lol. It can hardly run anything in windows so I gave up and went with DOS. Sorry about that! I’m sure I’ll do another video with dos games, just on something that isn’t a 3ds lol. You are welcome to recommend as many games as you want and I’ll pick the ones that interest me for the future! I honestly have no idea what I did to stunts. It was definitely sending Tandy code to the emulated s3 so that had something to with the random characters loll Oh and custom tracks for stunts seems interesting. I’ll be honest, I’ve never played stunts and don’t have much of a connection to it, but if I do another dos video with stunts, I’d be happy to explore a couple custom tracks
I’m thinking if the 3ds port of mini vmac is optimized enough, maybeeeee system 8 or 9 will run and Ableton 1 or 2 could possibly work. It’s a long stretch but I’m gonna eventually try that. The initial setup of macOS shouldn’t be too bad tho. But anyway thank you :)
What if you got CASEOH’S BASICS IN FAST FOOD AND EATING TO RUN??? There’s no way that it couldn’t run, granted that it seems to be a very low demanding game. Then again, it might be too heavy on it…
Yeahh, its system requirements were just too high :( it and a lot of the more “modern” windows games I wanted to try, needed directx, which once installed completely messed up the display drivers, freezing the entire screen on boot even in safe mode. I may do a part two if I figure that out though
Hey when i launch a game like quake or shadow warrior , it tells me "error allocating cache_blocks has failed" but when i play stuff like goldenaxe, it works, is it because im on old 3ds? Do you have discord so you can send me your config file and other stuff. Ill soon buy a new 3ds , ill let you know if quake works on new 3ds
TES Arena and Daggerfall would make for interesting experiences on the 3ds given how you swing your weapon in those games
Thanks for trying Stunts and Tyrian, I was surprised they run so fine.
You gotta watercool that bad boy for double digit fps.
liquid is also cool

I remember that there used to be excellent source ports of Quakecand Descent for the DS, well playable on the 3DS via flashcard.

it runs on the steam deck if you set it up right.

@@metrabyte03 what happened exactly with LI when it was ran? Did it complain about DX, or did it LI that did the blank screen and noises?
For anyone with a modded 3DS, there are native ports of Tyrian, Doom, and Quake on 3DS. Not really a fan of FPSes but Tyrian is an excellent shmup.
Indeed. Those ports will be better than anything emulation could even hope to achieve on here lol
The fact that you ran stunts and doom is very impressive
Considering you can run Wolfenstein 3-D really well on an iPod, I'm not surprised it's nearly perfect on 3DS like this!
I want to get an iPod for this lmao

I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
I’m surprised the games actually work on here. I thought your 3DS would explode.
Why? It plays wayyyy higher quality games. Also so many people have shown what a 3ds can do
You're simping very hard

I am deeply disturbed and offended that you are not playing more R-Type.
I'm surprised how bad these games run considering some PCs with windows95 had less ram than even the old 3DS

I imagine that flash games might work better if there were a port of Ruffle to 3DS
I dream of that someday being a reality
I bet getting macOS on that thing is gonna take a lot of work. Good luck trying to get Ableton to run on it like you usually do.

Now Try To Run Windows 3.1 on a 3ds
That may actually go pretty smoothly. I might give that a shot
Err actually 3.1 isnt the newest model. Windows 3.11 is actually better🤓🤓
@Randombozosreturn GET OU-
try it without dosbox
My prayers have been answered
any dos game that works on 386 33mhz runs good in dos box on new 3ds
Can you run elder scrolls 1 on new 3ds
I think so since it’s a DOS game. Although, you’d probably see similar performance to quake 1 lol
