Calpe has a wonderful mixture of old Valencian culture and modern tourist facilities. It is a great base from which to explore the local area or enjoy the many local beaches. Calpe alone has three of the most beautiful sandy beaches on the coast.
I was one of the very first 'Pioneer' of Calpe. No one will remember me but it does not matter. As of today, Calpe has become the city it was supposed to become.. It was a tiny village when I got there in 1967 and spent 13 years there.
Wow! I saw some pics from 60s, it was a different place comparing to what is now. For me personally it is sad to see how it is starting to look more and more like Benidorm. A lot of tall buildings were build in the last years.
@@PlacesandBeaches Thanks. I was going to ask how much it had changed in the 50 or so years (can't believe it's that long ago - the relentless march of time is scary!) since we nearly moved there. I imagined most of all that modern development happened since then.
@@PlacesandBeaches It's really interesting for me to see this. When I was 7 years old we were about to move from England to live for good in Spain, and my Mum was teaching me and my little sister our first few words of Spanish. Then the move fell through because something went wrong somewhere. I guess I would have become quite Spanish and we would have had a very different life to the one we had in England. That was in early 1972,so we would have been there when Franco was still in power for the first three-and-a-half years. The place where we were going to live was in Calpe. My parents went out and toured it we had to be in school so stayed home and were babysat while they were away,so I never got to see it.
@@PlacesandBeaches Thanks. Yes I have,to different parts several times. The last time I was on a road trip with a friend in which we stayed overnight in Madrid twice and Algeciras twice as we took the ferry across to Morocco and spent a few days at a place just outside Tangier with friends of my friend.

It has changed a lot. No it is a city with 20-30 floors buildings.
I've learned to appreciate this Blue Flag status. We've visited a few of them now and they're on a while new level.
Nice to see Calpe again. My Grandparents retired there in 1982 and many happy holidays were spent there in the 80s and 90s.
Lucky you :)

Wow! Such an interesting story! Have you managed to visit Spain when you became an adult?

And yet, have you visited Calpe in all these years?

Sin palabras cuanta belleza.

On se posait des qestions entre calp et benidorm, pour le calme Calp à l'air bien et Benidorm reste pas très loin...
I think Albir would be a good option. If I understood correctly
Mas o menos es verdad :)
@@PlacesandBeaches Gracias Baby❤🇧🇷
