    Isn't it utterly ridiculous for people who breed as if there's no tomorrow calling the childless selfish. They demonstrate a complete ignorance of the meaning of selfishness. It is the breeders who the selfish ones - putting themselves first at the expense of others.

    A brilliant and brave young lady speaking the truth. At 62 it only took for me to escape the indoctrination of go forth and over populate, which was misinterpreted form the original Hebrew writing. It was meat for plants, fish and wildlife to go forth and populate not humans. Watching the movie Soylent Green open my eyes to what could would happen in the near future. At 10 years old I witnessed my local counties forests, rock outcrop ecosystem, cascading streams, rivers, Flora, Fauna and Funga all get heartlessly and selfishly plundered and destroyed for more homes, business and human selfish wants. Today the largest intact section of forest is 311 acres. I have worked hard for conversation and live a fairly minimalist life. At my age and the experience I have seen in my life I have give up. I chose at 21 to be neutered and had no children and am so glad i did. Do let anyone tell you that you can not live a fulfilled life without having children. That statement is total BS and false. @LadyLeda2 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe history is their logic. China put in a one child policy to curb overpopulation in 1979. It did not work out so well. Many countries in the world today have zero or no population growth. Korea being one of those countries. My daughter lives there. She and her husband just had their first baby, and the government gave them 1 thousand dollars. It is even worse in Japan. The government there can not even get young people to marry. The problem for these 2 countries or any country is that you must keep your population at least stable to maintain your economy. If you allow your population to get to low, there will not be enough people to replace the workers to do the needed jobs that keeps their country running smoothly. On the opposite side is the country of the Philippines. Because the government is run by the Catholic Church, most people there do not believe in birth control. Those young girls start having babies when they are 12 years old, and only stop when they can't have any more, or die from lack of medical care. Birth control is available, but with the church against it and poverty, it's a losing battle for those young women. Having a child at such a young age means no education past the age of 12. Overpopulation there is a huge problem. The other problem country is India, and here again it is poverty. Our government can not go and tell other countries what to do. I hope this helps you see why controlling population growth is an unsolvable problem at this time. It is going to take many climate disasters, in many different countries before the world will come together to really solve this problem. Unfortunately, many people will be suffering.

    Smart people are not having many children, less intelligent people are having many children. You can teach an intelligent person to have no more than two children, but not someone with an IQ of 80. I know a man who is simple-minded who had 12 children. I know many people with IQs in the 120s and 130s who never had any children. We are evolving right now in the wrong direction, populations will continue to increase for a few decades but eventually it will end in an ecological disaster that will kill billions and numbers will crash.

    So much work is put into dealing with an increase in population (finding ways to grow more food, finding/producing more fresh water, finding ways to handle the waste, etc.), rather than finding a way to stem the population growth itself. That approach has its limits and cannot continue. How can we continue to increase food production decade after decade? A significant effort into solving the root cause of the problem is key. Thank you for speaking up about this important issue.

    "The human population will have to become much smaller in the future, hopefully by human will and through compassionate means. If not, then nature will devastate the human population-nature, conflict and war. You will have a smaller world to live in. Perhaps only a billion people could live here, maybe two, but not much more. That is with your advanced technology and your best efforts, a strong international community, tremendous cooperation and the mitigation and the limiting of conflict and war. In other words, if everything is done well and correctly, with immense human contribution, you will still have to have a small world population."

    The only issue I have with this is the use of the term "overpopulation" We say the deer are "overpopulated", because we don't like them eating our gardens, and use this as an excuse for extermination. "Over-" is a judgment, and evaluation. That's not a scientific statement. A better focus is on Carrying Capacity. The population is fine as long as we live within our means. The issue isn't that "there are too many humans". The issue is that the earth cannot support 8B people without cheap petroleum, now gone forever. The issue is when human population collides with natural limitations of the resources we need to live.

Further more these people usually can’t be reasoned with and are mostly unemployable which causes a massive strain on the host country.
      Governments need to outlaw all inbreeding and introduce genetic human therapeutic modification to fix the damage already done and the Good People in the population need to support this strongly, so that eventually we can decrease the population because at the rate things are going some how some way the elites will cause mass extermination.

    I look to places like China, which acknowledges that it cannot sustain an ever-growing population; so it introduces caps on the number of children. I think all countries should introduce something similar; with encouragement to adopt children too. Equally; we need to use the land we've got available rather than expand (forestry reduction) Africa is a large space with a small population compared to Asia. We need to fertilise this space and use it to allow the current Global population to cultivate appropriately. Just some thoughts on the matter..

    • @crystalcampbell7022
      @crystalcampbell7022 5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Ok, so the cap on children in China sounds good maybe, in theory, until you realize that infanticide, forced abortions, and human trafficking are all results of this. It is not the solution that you think it is.

    • @alayla3281
      @alayla3281 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That cap is gone in China.
      In general overpopulated countries the people will migrate to other countries where there are not so many humans. Lots of migration going on right now from overcrowded countries to those that are not.
      And they can come here they can have as many children as they want and they will overpopulate here as well. In some of the Nordic countries they now realize that when the immigrants from the Muslim countries' children grow up they may end up being those who have the voting power. They frequently have 10-14 children and if the man has several wives, or mistresses they will birth a big lot of babies as well.

      A G but that’s not smart because one you get past a certain age especially even in the 30s the risk of a difficult or even fatal pregnancy increases greatly and there will be some who will find it to be to late to even have kids. People should have kids in their later 20s cause that’s still a good fertile time but it’s also not fresh out of college and gives time to reason how many kids one wants. We don’t want to turn “overpopulation” into a crisis where we still have a lot of people but they are all old and cannot care for each other because there are not enough generations who are old enough (or young enough relatively speaking) to do so

      Nonsense, Rishav. It is a problem in the USA. It is a problem here in Australia, and we have a fraction of the population of either country. I wonder, with all due respect, Rishav, if your point of view helped justify you jumping the sinking ship and moving to the USA, rather than staying in India and trying to make a difference where it really matters. The movement of money and expertise out of India does not help the Indians left behind... and the numbers they add to their adopted country creates a new burden to already compromised environments. India is a mess... along with Pakistan and Bangladesh. They need you where you were rather than where you are to help fix things. We are happy to help all we can but not at the expense of our own natural environments.

We now produce 10x what we did in the 70s, within the same space, using less farmers. We now have mastered genetic manipulation, look in to CRSPR, the gene editing software. It is theoretically possible to turn matter into energy and vice versa (E=MC2). That means we will be getting replicators soon. We have new nuclear tech that will make our current uranium stores last thousands of years instead of 10. WE HAVE SOLVED MOST PROBLEMS, FUNGUS IS UNNECESSARY.

      This talk of "shortages" is ridiculous. You don't just wake up one day and find the world is out of a resource. As a resource starts running out, prices increase, and people adjust their behavior accordingly. As it is, food prices have only dropped as the population has exploded. In 1950, the average American family spent 30% of their income on food. Now its about 8%. But if feeding everyone was becoming a problem, you'd see prices reflect that, and people have less kids as feeding them became more difficult.

  • @BillPark-ey6ih
    @BillPark-ey6ih 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    1. Desire to live => prevent starvation => stabilized food supply => stabilized life and more humans able to be born => more humans = more demand => need of excessive food supply to manage increasing population => rapidly increasing food demand exceeds food production => starvation => need to stabilize food production but resources are already assigned at maximum capacity.
    increasing population is already a problem, but there is another
    2. technology development => longer life expectancy => but longer life expectancy doesn't mean expansion of range of economically active age => more inactive population => yet there are already a lot of population which cause more babies to be born => more inactive (or dependent) population => more dependence => more resource distribution to support dependants => the resource decrease even more rapidly and distribution is not efficient => decreasing rate of development yet resources are continuously spent just to be alive.
    I believe there is optimized population such that it maximizes tech / cultural / mental development. The world has too much population.

      I do believe you have missed the point. When we say overpopulation, we mean the amount of people that this planet can feed and water, not places to live. You see, we live on this plant, and this planet has some resources that we use to live. The 2 major ones are water to drink, and land to grow food on. We can not replace these two things. Especially drinking water. So overpopulation means there are to many people to feed and water. Our plant can not make more of these things, what we have right now is all we are going to have. To many people will use up the water and land that then we will all die. Do you understand?
