- It's been described by many as the 'budget Bonnie'. In early 2022 I took out the beautiful chrome Interceptor 650 for a ride up a volcano, to see if it is just that, or something that can stand in its own right. Here's a quick ride review of the Interceptor 650 from Royal Enfield.
Bike loaned from Easy Rider Tenerife (not sponsored).

I purchased this bike here in the land of large displacement engines (Utah, USA) I routinely ride this bike at 75-80MPH and I find the power more than adequate for my needs. I'm also 6'3"/300lbs even then I find this bike way more nimble than it has any right to be. Honestly even at this elevation (4600ft) I don't feel like this bike is lacking any power. I find it loves to run between 3.5k-5k rpm once it has been broken in. I'm surrounded by straight and flat valley roads, and canyon/mountain roads.
I got a chance to try out a Meteor 350 and absolutely love the character that engine has and am thinking about picking up a classic 350 or a hunter 350 next year.
Great filming and editing mate, if you keep it up I think you're on to a winner.
Thanks Rob! Really kind of you to say.
Ah, my dream bike right there. I found out about Enfield's existence when I saw an older Bullet parked in Helsinki in 2019, then immediately learned about the then new Interceptor. Got my licence in 2020, then dumped a load of money into moving from Sweden to Norway but still managed to at least get a first bike in 2022 (a CRF 250L), and this year, right when I'd saved up enough to sell my CRF and spring for the Interceptor, I got laid off 😅 I'm crossing my fingers that next year it's finally time for me to take the leap. The big bummer is they're not as 'budget' in Norway as they are elsewhere, they cost around 8,600 GBP here 🙃
Wow that’s quite a bit more! The price has risen recently but you won’t find anything better for the price even now. Hoping you are able to achieve it in the near future!
That Chrome looks so good 🥹
great quality
For your info, those pin stripes are not vinyls, they are hand painted at their factory with some special gold paint.
Appreciate that info, thanks!
Which one should you pick if 90% of your ride will be 2 up riding, having a saddlebag in both sides, having a tour with it, will the bonneville t120 more suitable for my type? or INT 650 is enough?
T120 for me
Very nice bike, I did test ride one but as my knees don't bend too easily, unfortunately I found the Interceptor quite uncomfortable and why is the seat so narrow, my fat backside wasn't impressed. A shame because what a lovely looking bike, and they go well for an A2 compliant bike.
That’s a good insight, thanks Steve! It’s definitely on the skinnier side, perhaps try a bonneville or the speedmaster for something more accommodating? Have you checked out the new 650 from Royal Enfield too?
you should've shown us how a tall dude like you looks on it.
Apologies - this was a few years ago on holiday! I will be posting an updated review as I have one on loan currently 👌🏻
@@Willieswheels much appreciated!!
