    Comment at 2.13 I particularly agree with. The problem with streamers is relying on a hardware manufacturer to support their archived products. Most hifi separates don't need support so it's not been necessary to consider before.
    Cambridge Audio seems to be supporting it's archived streamers, so they are still able to stream radio and new services after many years. No connection to CA, just a happy user.

    I love piCore Player on my pi's. I built two with touchscreens, and one built on a pi Zero WH with a Pimoroni line-out DAC and a screen with control buttons!

    Loved the video but you should considering upgrading your audio recoding set up with a pop filter or even by creating a small, budget recording booth for your voiceover.

    I assembled my first Raspberry system with a Pi3B loaded with PiCorePlayer + LMS on my PC. I do not use or intend to use external streamers like Spotify, only the audio files on my PC or NAS or directly plugged SSD. My output was via USB to a Topping D50 DAC. The sound output was marvelous. The best I had ever heard. The only problems I had was with LMS, but that was several years. Now I wonder if I should upgrade to Pi4B, with latest PCP version. My only audiophile concern in the whole system is Pi3B or Pi4B switching supply, and if it could affect the audio quality. The DAC has a linear supply.

      Given audio signal exiting Pi is fully digital, with all its CRC codes, how its PSU could affect audio quality?
      If you use HDMI to send audio signal from Pi to any 10 years old HiEnd Amplifier, which is now 50 bucks or so, you can travel HDMI with amazing protocols and codecs like Dolby TrueHD and exploit internal amplifier's amazing DAC

      No, I didn't use HDMI for my audio signal streaming, but USB connected from the Pi to an external DAC. Unfortunately there are very few DACs with HDMI inputs, which would upgrade the audio quality of any two channel audio from any source having HDMI outputs.

    thanks a lot, ur channel is a good one. all infos and steps described clearly. I tried all the OS and the best one is Moode. I'm using pi zero with USB DAC (E1DA 9038s). this DAC draw a lot of power coz it rated >1w. All of the OS have pop/clicked sound's problem. Only Moode Audio that able to solve that. The UI is simple and already packed with important feature like expand storage, samba share and bluetooth. Thats really come in handy 👍👍

    Thank you. I actually learned a few things I was oblivious to.

    very helpful video. I have watched many tutorials explaining the need of a pi-hat and then connect to a dac. I use for almost a year usb connection to my dac and sounds great. Is there such a difference if i add a hat ?

      Thank you. Yes, I can confirm there is a significant difference if you use a digital transport hat instead of the usb on your pi to transfer the audio signal to your dac.

    Interesting solution, but the Raspberry PI is over heating so much ... I added a small fan which makes so much noise ... In the end I gave up ...

    Would you discourage using a USB DAC if I already have one? I have a Modi Multibit that I planned to use.

      Even myself I started using Raspberry pi with my usb dac first. But as I mentioned keep in mind even on a laptop or a computer, usb is quite noisy output, understand then on such a small psb as raspberry pi has with all that going on there. Also if using version 4 even if you disable wifi and Bluetooth it actually doesn't disable the hardware on the board it is still transmitting so there is still a lot of interference going on, you will be fine but just take this in a consideration if you do some critical listening.

    Outdated video, your not going to find a Pi 4 at a store anymore for $35, we need alternate board solutions!

    I just need a flac/ape/mp3 player I can connect to a usb hard drive storing music and then connect to a tv to select files, and a digital output I can connect to a good dac. Seems I'm asking too much: it doesn't exist. The only way I seem able to do this is buy a blu ray dvd player with a usb port and connect that to dac, or use a cheap laptop. BTW, I am that rarest of creatures, someone that will never want to use a smart phone or tablet, I've seen what they do to people and I don't want the same happening to me.

    So u can play from usb and network with this ? what output u reccomend better optical or coaxial (from this unit to the amp) ?

    • @TechRoadTrip
      @TechRoadTrip  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you have a hat with both coax and optical I recommend coax

    What do you think instead of using hifiberry board why dont we use hdmi audio splitter to get optical/coax audio out?
    Thanks

    • @vuway-
      @vuway- 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hat is designed to not have noise in the signal and stuff like that the splitter is just simply giving you the connector
