I have now watched two of Monsieur le Roux's beautifully done videos, the first one being IL2 Cliffs of Dover: Do17 Aircraft 2, and this one. Now, let me be forthright. I never fought in any wars but my dad was in the U.S. Navy during WW 2 so I have had an interest in this since I was a boy; especially in the air war over Europe. To see a part of it so realistically and dramatically rendered is very moving. And the awesomely beautiful music, that supports it so effectively by Andre Lyubimov is outstanding. Thank, you all for a wonderful experience.
I didn't realize that 7.9 mm Machine Guns could punch holes the size of footballs in Dornier 17s, and that none of the Luftwaffe's bombers could bring down a single RAF Hurricane or Spitfire, or do anything better than just be shot down by them ... With the arrival of the superb saviours, the Messerschmitt Me - 109 and its bigger "twin", the Me - 110, blasting away with 20 - mm canons, the entire scenario transforms for the best! Great! ☺☺☺👍👍👍
First class, as always...top job boys! Had an interesting email the other day that told of a very interesting story about a B17 called "Ye Olde Pub", a story of desperate struggle against the odds, & of a knight of the sky; if you don't already know of it, then look up these two men: Lt. Charlie Brown & Lt. Franz Stigler * Thanks for putting me onto Apocalyptica, great band....& you boys keep up the fantastic work! Cheers.
The Italians committed an entire air wing to the Battle of Britain. That being said, they had very little, if any, impact on that campaign. Italians were also present on the Eastern front fighting in the Soviet Union, mainly in the Baltic area I believe.
Actually the Regia Aeronautica sent 8 squadrons of BR20Ms, 3 of CR42s, 3 of fiat G50s and 1 of Cant Z.1007bis. Operations began on 24th Oct '40 and ended on 16 april '41
Thanks Danilo, trying to get my computer crap together. Looks like a fantastic game. (Love air combat) When it's time I'm jumping in with all four feet. LOL thanks, F.B.👍
Your are welcome, mate! This game without the Team Fusion patches is buggy as hell and ATAG (home of Team Fusion modders) is a fantastic place with a very helpful and friendly online community! Cheers! ;)
Hey Danilo,i was wondering about ole cliffs of Dover, see i bought the game when it first came out and it was very laggy like you say and had no real campaigns and other stuff so i just quit playing it,i recently bought me a new computer since my old rig went to PC heaven and i was wondering if it was worth it installing it again? , what have they done to the game? is it worth playing it now? i remember it had killer graphics, I'm a diehard Sturmovik player, mainly offline though, been playing DBW for awhile and i enjoy the hell out of it,so i was just wondering, thank you for your time!!!
Had I been alive in 1940, and of an age to take part in the defence of my beautiful country, I would most certainly have done all that I could in order to be aircrew aboard that pugnacious plug-ugly heavy-punching ship-busting Beaufighter. If you want an aircraft that is able to fulfill several different roles, all of them superbly, then you have to go a very long way to find anything to equal the Beaufighter. Whether you want a two-engined cannon-equipped night fighter, a long-range daytime intruder, a torpedo armed anti-shipping strike aircraft or a rocket-firing U-boat killer, then the Beaufighter is all those things, and more. I love this snub nosed pitbull of an aeroplane, and I want one please.
@s4nd0r Yes, it is a let-down regarding the expectation but it run better on the latest graphic cards and cpu's. My advice is to visit the 1C Cliffs of Dover site; there the latest patches are discussed and ways to improve things. :)
No it means that the Italian involvement in air operations over the British Isles lasted approx. 5 1/2 months. the battle did NOT last a year There are many different definitions as to when the battle actually started and when it ended, the British class the battle as happening between July '40 and September '40 (Operation Sea lion was called off on 17 Sept, rendering the battle effectively over) German historians have the battle as between Aug '40 and May '41 when bomber units were withdrawn.
@gnark1ll1us yea, performance wise, its designed as a game to last a long time, using an engine that will be used and upgraded for along time (possibly 10 years), unlike games that use the unreal or crytek engines, that'll be replaced in a year or two. as for it being simplified or arcadey, it depends on what difficulty settings you use, but its the least simplified WW2 sim out there.
This is a way better trailer than the official ubisoft one. I already thought it was strange that there were real people in the plane at 0:14 the first time I saw it, but now I understand ;)
1 Year later and I have a gtx560ti and even now with the latest beta patch this game is laggy and shoddy even on low settings. However, there is no delay in control input. That said that is with the beta patch. Without it, the game is a lot smoother but a bunch of the older problems come back.
Great video, I liked it, my only concern is that battle damage from British .303 machine guns did not create the huge holes like cannon did? I am using question marks here because I can't say for certain, only commenting on my limited study. The German aircraft shot up were pretty much sieves (although it was often hard to see the holes but did not normally lose a lot of skin? When .303's caused skin rips they were normally in the path of the bullet and not very likely to rip away in the slipstream? The exploding cannon shells from the Beaufighter, 109, and 110 did make some good holes with the airstream ripping the metal further contributing to catastrophic airframe damage but normally it was only a few hits that would appear on an aircraft when it was done in?
Incredible graphics for this game. But I'm not sure my rig could handle this either, even with an HD 5770. Sounds like lots of patches have come out for it though since it was originally released.
@biltongbru alright thank you :) By the way, great job on the pictures you recently posted, i dont know how you managed to get them, but they are incredible, nice share
Everything but the kitchen sink was include in this! To answer some questions; the biplanes were the Gladiator and CR42, and yes, the Italian airforce did briefly attack Britain during the BoB. According to Sdn Ldr Robert Stanford Tuck's biography Fly For Your Life, upon inspecting an Italian bomber he had caused to crash land, it was found to be full of bottles of chianti and steel helmets!! Does anyone know why this was?
Cliffs of Dover on full realism is second only to the DCS series in realism. The old Il2 1946 on full real is arcade by comparison, and that's coming from somebody who has put thousands of hours into the old game. As for performance, I have a GTX 580 and i7-2600k, and I can run the game on max graphics, with fraps recording, and still get 40-60 FPS, even over a city. When I first got it I couldn't run it, but my old comp sucked. With my new rig, it's great. Make sure you've got a good rig first.
@Hollenvaen yeah things is, i also have a quadcore.. but its really the graphic card that makes all the difference.. they only support the latest one, doesnt matter how good ur current one is. Anyway good luck! :)
IL-2 is thee top flight sim for WW2 planes, but graphics of the game are very demanding. You need a top rig to play at this quality. The older version has nearly as good graphs, but still demanding to render. not only are the graphs great, but flight models have controls no other sim offer. You can trim props, lock tail wheel, turn on nav, landing and cock lights...the down side, it's like flying a real plane, and if you don't know how to, boom splat...
Great Video. I see you've made more of these and it's your hobby. I'd love to talk to you about how you make them. Let me know how to contact you. Thank you.
I found the game really awkward...having a dogfight was bloody impossible, as the aircraft response times were really slow...I much preferred European Air War...but cudos for the nice trailor, enjoyed it
The 110 was no match for the Hurricane, and while we are on the subject, despite what people say the Hurricane could and did take on the 109's and shot a load down,it could turn inside a 109 with ease
Not at all, as I stated earlyer, the Luftwaffe continued flying bomber sorties until May the following year. I'd say that the Luftwaffe were never 'all but beaten' in the BoB but they HAD failed in their aim to gain air superiority over the british isles by then. Failure in the campaign did not mean the severe weakening of the Luftwaffe (indeed the German air force remained a strong and effective fighting force until 1944) just a rude awakening and realisation that they could be beaten.
In my opinion Red Baron 3-D is the finest air combat game there ever was. If it were possible to re-create it with modern details, and expand the combat areas it would supercede every other air combat game extant. Ask anyone who's ever played it and you will hear the same opine.
@s4nd0r I'd heard about all this. It's putting me off buying it. I have a decent PC...and I'm about to get Quad Core and another graphics card (SLI-ed to 2GB, as it was the cheaper/only way I could get that) so I hope it'll actually run :/
Great graphics. The Hurricanes would have concentrated on the bombers and ground attack aircraft although they were capable of taking on the faster German fighters as they being able to turn inside their faster rivals. The Spits would have concentrated mainly on the fighters. The Defiants? Well if put against the fighters they simply became cannon fodder. Don't know why the Beaufighters were included. Of course their fire power was devastating but their usual operation was ground attack or naval attack rather than fighter to fighter action?
@s4nd0r I was the same way. But if you havent trie dit lately you REALLY need to. It ahs been patched up, and is quite fun and I beleive that another patch is only days away. Ive really een enjoying this sim since they have taken it to the next level.
Well, All I can say to that is A) I didn't think it was "sniping" mearly expressing an opinion, and B) As a grown up I can admit I don't know everything in life so I stand corrected.
@s4nd0r Mine seems to be supported...but from what I've seen, the graphics aren't actually *that* good. I mean, Microsoft Flight is going to look better than this, and will be supported on far more graphic cards than this. It's quite disappointing cuz I really want to play this.
I have now watched two of Monsieur le Roux's beautifully done videos, the first one being IL2 Cliffs of Dover: Do17 Aircraft 2, and this one. Now, let me be forthright. Great! ☺☺☺👍👍👍
The last scene is breath taking. A lonely pilot about to crash and the might of nature; the open skies and seas.
Amazing music.
Love it and the animation. I especially love the ending where chose NOT to have plane hit the water. To me it's more dramatic that way.
AWSOME !!!!!!!! BEST TRAILLER I EVER SEEN ON THIS GAME
@pottyracer3 24 was a Dornier and 31 was actually a Messerschmitt Bf 110
a very nice film great keep it up need to watch more of this clips thanks

Great Work Tinnus.Another great combat memoir written by a ww2 colonial pilot is 'Typhoon Pilot' by Sqdn Ldr Desmond Scott.
Thank you very much, i can never get enough booktips! :)
Outstanding job Tinus. Very well done sir.

Could you tell us what your computer specs are to be able to produce such a nice video? Thanks.
@whitesoxfan5 It was a british Gloster Gladiator biplane.
This looks fantastic, ----- preordered.
Outstanding graphics!!! Just watching the air combat was making me crazy to play! Simply fantastic!!

A recent update to this game made it flyable, check out 'Blitz Edition'
As of 1/2014 where can I get the latest COD patch for PC?
ATAG WEBSITE!
@s4nd0r Yes, it is a let-down regarding the expectation but it run better on the latest graphic cards and cpu's.

man I whish they kept making expansion packs for the good old sturmovik series...
@biltongbru alright thank you :) By the way, great job on the pictures you recently posted, i dont know how you managed to get them, but they are incredible, nice share
I have a question for all Rise Of Flight players: My game can't update because the updater freezes. Please help
Which bi-plane was that?
Er, Ju88s didn't have an internal bomb bay, did they?
Great music. Where can I purchase this track? I would like to add this to my jogging collection.
I´m buying the game as soon as most bugs are fixed, anyway nice vid!
I`m not a videogame fan, but the CGI is great and the epic music wonderful!!!!!
Fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed this terrific film, thank you.
Including the Reggia Aeronautica is a nice touch. Their contribution is never mentioned.
what is the song called?
very very nice. 100 stars and keep 'm comming.
Very beautiful work.

it's really sad that u can't fly the really big planes like the dornier or the walrus :-(

Have you looked into Wings Over Flanders Fields: Ultimate Edition?
Im itching to play this the graphics look lush
There's already a rather good World War One flight sim out called Rise of Flight. It's available on Amazon.
IL2 Is playable,i can play battlefield 3 on high [also crysis] and i have win 7 64-bit...
I dont know your Propleme but its awsome!
What's with Italian planes flying in the English Channel? Also, British night fighters painted black fighting in broad daylight?
Has this game been patched yet?
new bug tailwheel in the hurryc. is not tucked up.
Love the music.

@freestyler1879
thanks!

awesome!!
@s4nd0r

Magnifique.
The big issue for me is scale. I wanted to be able to fight in the 1000 bomber raids over London.
Great graphics.
