      My grandpa too !! That’s how I turned out. I love to hear someone’s grandparents shaped their memories. My best childhood memories are in my grandfathers garden where he would buy 100s of bulbs and roses to plant . I do feel your joy.

    Thank you for showing pictures of what the end results would be of your flowers. They all look absolutely beautiful!! I had some doubts about the twig you had stuck in the ground, but when you showed the one that you had done a couple of weeks earlier, they had buds growing out of the sides!! Very nice.

    Elliot, my apologies for possibly telling you what you already know, but you can separate stems that are touching or mildly crossing and brace them with a wooden dowel or even a small stick tied with floral tape or soft rags. Leave this in place, training the stem as it grows.

I absolutely love roses and am really encouraged to get out there and garden my little heart out--I have a 50/50 success rate with most of my efforts--my family says I have a "grey" thumb--but I love gardening. So beautiful! Even the music was soothing. As for cutting the rose stem. What about putting a small wood chip/ block in between the stems to redirect it’s growth. Yes I’ve done it before, and it works. Anyway it was very enjoyable.

    I truly enjoyed watching you at your gardening , someone in your comments already gave you data on separating stems you never have to cut away just train it to the way you want it to grow and when it's established remove your stick ,dowel and tie and allow your plant to flourish , TYFS 😍.

    In the US it is illegal or highly restricted to collect rainwater for use in 9 states. Strict regulations and restrictions have been put in place over the last century. Currently, nine states have laws restricting the collection of rainwater, but the severity of those laws differ. www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/is-rainwater-harvesting-legal-in-your-state-us/61586739
    You have gotten so so good with your video skills. The zooming in, pulling back, adding soft mood music, just everything is really good. So impressive. You are a pro!
    I can't wait to see your garden in full bloom.

    • @ElliotNMatt
      @ElliotNMatt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why on earth can you not collect rainwater? lol it’s not banned anywhere here in uk.

    • @dlcalbaugh
      @dlcalbaugh 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ElliotNMatt There is a lot to it, but the info I posted before has been updated and as of 2018 people can collect rainwater that flows from their roof in some states and there are other regulations in lots of states.
      In the western U.S., any use of rainwater is subject to legal restriction of some sort. In the 1860s, miners in Colorado experienced water shortages and developed a system to divide water based on a priority system.
      This system developed into the prior appropriation system, which is basically calling dibs on water.
      “Stream flow is supplied by precipitation in the form of rain and snow, so if the supply is taken away, stream flow will decrease,” Jeff Deatherage, water supply chief in Colorado, said.
      However, this issue has nothing to do with the environment. In fact, a number of independent studies proved that letting people collect rainwater on their property actually reduces demand from water facilities and improves conservation efforts.

    • @ElliotNMatt
      @ElliotNMatt  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have plenty of rain so not really an issue over here, on occasion when we do have shortages they just impose hosepipe bans and then it’s fine.
