  • My brother and I decided to take a dirt bike trail in a 1-ton truck and see how it went. Turned out to be a pretty mild trail but that didn't make it any less fun! If you guys have any questions leave them in the comments and I'll get back to you asap.

    I think that's the first time I've seen one of these trucks dangle a tire in the air. Respect for not abusing the truck (or the wilderness) and taking it slow.

      That's the beauty of wheeling a diesel. You can idle over most obstacles because it has all that torque down low. The only time I have to get on it is for steep sand hills really.

    Got same style truck but not close to the flex you’re getting. Change the body mounts to Poly, especially the Rear Cab they’re super spongy as they age and remove the Overload rear spring fonts contacting to early and you’ll be amazed at how much less flex will occur.

    It's so nice seeing another manual 7.3 of the same generation off-roading, was it a little difficult getting used to stick in the truck while off-roading? I know It was a pain in the ass for me for like the first 30 minutes but then I got used to it right away

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BrokeBoys Garage not really because my first vehicle I ever owned was a 3 speed cj5 so I had that down from the get go haha. The 7.3 is a lot easier to drive than that Jeep was that's for sure.

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I already had it figured out by the time I got this truck. My very first vehicle was a 1973 Jeep CJ5 and that was a three-speed manual. I wheeled that thing all over the place haha. What's nice about the 7.3 is that it doesn't stall as easy as that jeep did.

    Question, I have the same truck, manual, but it's a 250 extended cab and I'm assuming you use 4low? Do you use the granny gear or 2nd?

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      BrokeBoys Garage I only use 4lo and it just depends on what I'm doing. When I need to crawl over things really slow I use first and when I don't I'm usually in second or third, sometimes fourth. If it's a really steep sandy hill I'll usually use 3rd to climb it.

    What are you running in your front and rear diffs? Do you have lockers front and rear or locker rear and limited slip front?

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Front has a full spool in it and the rear has a Detroit locker.

    • @DiegoRamirez-hx4vo
      @DiegoRamirez-hx4vo 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dillon Wenk so basically the front its free (open diff) and on the back you've diff locker?

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, the front is locked 100% of the time and the rear is locked most of the time except for turns. A full spool just a chunk of steel that locks both sides of the axle together and a detroit locker has clutches so it can unlock when it's not under load.

    Nice truck! Seeing what kind of lift you got on this beast and tires size? How does it ride? I just bought a 1996 f250 4x4 5spd

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David P12 It's a 6" lift with 37x13.50r18 and it rides smoother than factory but I think that's because of the tires for sure. It will be a little different if you go the same route on yours since you don't have the solid front axle.

    • @suavehouse5150
      @suavehouse5150 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to do a RSK with super duty springs up front and SD springs in the back

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a solid plan, I've heard those super duty springs ride a lot better because they are a little longer. I'm not a fan of RSK's though, I don't like how they make the front end look. The 3" ones aren't bad but the 5" ones look terrible even with a big bumper.

    • @andrewsmith9980

    Hey man, I was looking to get one of these trucks. But I was wondering what you think about how much power it makes and if you have done any engine mods to give it a lil more power. Thanks

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Matt Bradley they make enough power to do whatever you want with it really. I mean the factory 215hp and 400 something torque isn't impressive by today's standards but it does great. Currently I've added a cold air intake, 3" downpipe, ts6 position chip, and an intercooler and it's really woke the truck up. I plan on doing a turbo sometime soon and eventually fuel system/ hpop so I can do injectors.

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, for what I do it has plenty of power. I honestly wouldn't mind more when I'm driving it on the pavement though. Right now it has an intake, 3" downpipe to custom side pipe, cx racing intercooler, a turbo that's comparable to a Bean's Diesel D66 setup, and a ts 6 position chip with the tunes it comes with. I'll probably end up adding 180cc stock nozzle injectors and custom tunes at some point just so I have a little more juice on the pavement but other than that I'm happy with it.

    What is the wheelbase and underbody clearance (between the wheels from the ground to frame) on this truck?

    • @460FordBronco79
      @460FordBronco79  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nicks Customs wheelbase is 168.4" I'm not sure about from the ground to the frame though, I would have to measure it. It has a 6" lift and it's on 37's if that helps put things into perspective.
