    that frame flex and crawling through the narrow trail made me nervous! but you did a great job maneuvering. Makes me more confident in taking my OBS cclb down some tight trails

    Power Wagon is best full size off-road in my OPINION but damn that 7.3L Ford did excellent. Very nice 👍 sounds beastly too 😎

      I remember ford and Chevy saying that since the suspension wasn’t as good the frame articulation would help keep all the wheels on the ground or something I don’t remember that was decades ago

    Only thing I hate about the zf5 is the gear rollover noise when you lug the truck. I have one behind my 7.3 with a single mass flywheel.

      When this video was filmed the truck had a cheap Napa clutch in it and a failing stock flywheel. It’s a lot better now that it has a new flywheel and southbend twin disk.

    if this truck is a dedicated off roader mainly. try a set of Deaver 6 inch lift leafs for a 88 bronco in the rear. super soft and long travel is sure to save the frame from snaping cross members. I've been running 90 f350 axles under my bronco for ten years now and these leafs are one of the best money's I've spent besides
    bloody knuckle garage radius arms. the stock f350 rear leafs are equal to 4 inch lift on a stock 88 bronco so the 6 inch Deaver leafs should be about 2 inch lift. shackle hanger flip in the rear and longer shackles she'll flex like yoga.

      Ernie Desjardins perfect! I've been looking into the deaver leafs I've heard they are the way to go. I'm probably going to do a three link coilover set up in the front but I planned on keeping the leafs and getting some resi shocks in the rear.

      Absolutely! The only real mods this thing had in this video is a 6" lift 315x75 tires, detroit locker in the rear, and a full spool in the front axle. Super basic set up. It would have done better if I had removed the sway bars. I'm not running them at all currently.

    AIR DOWN.... I climb anything where my truck fits ...my 01 Super Duty crew long bed -6- speed manual (((super granny 1st gear))) 6" springs, 38 x 15s aired down to 12 psi or so. With hydro ram steering, it's a comfortable go anywhere rig....

      This was aired down to 10psi. Those tires were super stiff and they were 12.5's mounted on a 7" wide wheel so the sidewalls didn't flex much. Now I'm on 37x13.50's and I have a rear locker along with the front one so it climbs everything really effortless even when I'm only aired down to like 15-20psi. I do plan on going with DOM/ heims high steering with hydro assist soon myself. It's really difficult to turn on hard surfaces when it's locked in without it haha.

    sick wheeling dude. my trucks ugly and incapable of that but if it was able to get through that I still wouldn't and im a lot shorter haha. also Id personally would buy a more beat up full size truck for that. straight obs powerstrokes are awesome trucks and they,re not loosing any value. but who knows maybe your daily is a modern monster

      +kyle pries I daily a 2003 F350 with a 6.0L so I'm not too worried if I beat up the 95 or break it a little. Don't get me wrong my objective is to keep it as straight and pretty as possible but it will never be a pavement princess.

    Just a tip. Change the Cab Mounts to Poly and it won't flex as much. Lot of the flex comes from very soft Rear Cab Mounts and the older they are the worst it is. My OBS doesnt flex as much.

      Micah Watts I appreciate the tip. I'm sure I'll get around to polyurethane bushings eventually. The body bushings that are on there are still in good shape for the time being, the flex doesn't really bother me.

    crap, dude. videos like this really contradict my thinking. Originally I wanted an extended cab long bed f250 7.3 so I could haul a lot and take it moderately off road as well. My friends all have midsize pickups, and, while they can't tow much, they handle so well up here in the twisties in the mountains, and they seriously go absolutely anywhere at all. snow, mud, sand, rocks, they're incredibly capable vehicles. I've been thinking about getting an old toyota pickup or a ford ranger or something, but I still want to have a larger truck so I can do a lot of hauling with it. My plans are to do mostly overland stuff, with a side purpose being a tow vehicle and spacious camper with a topper on it. Videos like this make me wonder if I should just go for the OBS.

      Honestly you can pretty much get any solid axle full size truck and slap some locking differentials in it and it will go just about anywhere you point it and still be able to haul all of your gear or pull a trailer if need be.

      @@460FordBronco79 well update: i did buy an obs. 97 5spd 7.3 ECLB. i’m happy with the truck but i’m not at the same time. it’s horribly impractical, it’s slow, and everything’s broken on it yet it’s still reliable as a brick and goes (so far) everywhere i’ve taken it.
      the issue is not the traction, it’s the wheelbase. the places i wanted to take the truck i could not fit without taking an awful line and going so off camber and putting it on two wheels.
      the dana 50 IFS is pretty nice, and it’s geared perfectly for all my needs except highway driving. i might get rid of it soon but i may just keep it. not sure yet

      @@MCatwar if you ask me I think you should keep it. There’s a huge aftermarket for these trucks that will fix the slow and underpowered part. I do empathize with the wheelbase thing because there are some trails I can’t do because they are too tight. But they wheelbase does save me on other trails where shorter vehicles fall into holes and I don’t so it’s an even trade off haha.

      @@460FordBronco79 yep! i cruised through areas my friends jeep got all tippy, but he could actually make the switchbacks and i couldn’t.
      actually, my dipstick tube adapter just failed so i installed the strictly diesel kit. another $400 down the drain into this truck. and i’ve come to the conclusion she needs injectors badly. so if i’m doing injectors i’ll do 160ccs and a tune with gauges so there’s another 2k down the drain. i also should really address the rusty cab corners so i’m not sure. thjs is my daily driver; my bmw is what i put more money into as it’s my project/race car but hell, i’ve almost put as much into the truck as the bmw now so it’s kinda concerning.

      These trucks are really awesome all around that's why I own two of them but comparing them to the later generations is unfair. I mean I could put $5,000 into this truck and get the same power a 6.0 makes with just a tune or a 6.7 makes off the showroom floor. Not to mention those trucks pull a lot better. For this kind of thing though I feel a lot better beating on a truck that blue books at $7,000 than one that costs $45k+. The ecoboosts are an amazing platform too. I have a 2017 Focus ST with the 2.0 ecoboost and I haven't had any issues and its a lot of fun. You also have to consider that the f150 with the 3.5 ecoboost has a higher payload and tow rating than this 1995 F350. Let that sink in lol

      I've got a full spool up front. When I have the money to spare I'll swap it out for a selectable locker because sometimes I have to hop out and unlock a hub to turn on hard packed surfaces haha.

      ceetwarrior yeah I mean it's part time fourwheel drive so it doesn't hurt anything to run one. On smaller axles it's really hard on hubs. So far with this Dana 60 I haven't blown any up. I've spit out some ujoints and shafts a couple times though. Just an excuse to upgrade to chromoly right? Haha it's got a Detroit locker in the rear

      ceetwarrior I've driven in snow with the hubs locked and it's not bad. Of course I was probably only going like 25 tops because I was in the mountains. A selectable locker would be great for ice though especially in the rear. I don't see a ton of it out in my neck of the woods though

    I hate to ask, but have you noticed cracks at the front cab mounts and lower firewall from this sort of twisting?

      I haven't noticed any sort of cracking. These C channel frames are made to be flexible just like a big rig. That's why I never understood why chevy and dodge commercials knock the frame flex ford has. I'd personally have all four tires on the ground and not be able to open my tailgate than the other way around. I think ford finally gave in on the 2017's though and went with a boxed frame.

      I have noticed that the bolts for the front fenders come loose after a while and start making noise from this sort of wheeling but thats about it.

      Yeah ford caved and will box their frames on the 2017 superduty, then put an aluminum body on it. I always liked the idea that fords had one single piece rail from bumper to bumper. The gauge was also thicker and the open channel drained better, making them much more resistant to rust in the long run. Boxed frames are typically made of thinner steel pieces that are overlapped and welded together to complete the rail. Plenty of places for sand and salt to settle in and go to work.
      I've seen a few crewcab pickups from the logging industry up here in BC that suffered from the spider cracking around the front firewall and forward mounts on the same vintage truck like yours, so that's why I was curious. Of course, those guys likely drove them like they hated them (lots of chevy fans up here lol).
      You're right about frame flex. Back in the 60s, the frame was considered part of the suspension and designed to flex with uneven terrain. It also made for better ground contact with a vehicle that didn't need as much suspension travel. This kept cost, and ride height down, without sacrificing ground clearance.

      Yeah a buddy of mine is waiting for delivery on his. He got a fully loaded f350 four door long bed. I guess we'll put it through it's paces and see how she runs. Luckily we live in a really dry climate so we don't deal with much salt even in the winter time. Although I did learn just how quickly that stuff starts killing parts when I drove this truck up to Washington and played in the ocean one afternoon haha.
      Yeah, I could see trucks used in that trade getting that sort of damage. This truck has been a lot of places it shouldn't be even when it was all factory and my dad owned it but it was all done at a slow creep. Not a whole lot of beating on this thing.
      As far as the frame flex goes I think this truck has more frame flex than it does suspension flex, especially in the rear. This is probably the last truck that pays homage to it's 60's and especially the 70's body style ancestors. I do however plan on going with coilovers on all four corners, three link suspension up front, and a four link set up in the rear. I'll probably do it one end at a time, starting with the front. Then we'll see what she can do with some real suspension flex haha.

    Hi friend, i have the same truck, Ford F350 1993 7.3D crew cab and large load box, is it normal that the chassis bends this way? I think that my truck has a problem but i see that your truck bent the same way.

      Aguspeed these trucks have a C channel frame and they are meant to flex like that especially with how long they are there’s no avoiding it. Unless you box the entire frame of course.

      You can see some newer photos on my instagram account @dillon_is_rowdy but like I said I'll hopefully get some new content up here in the next few months. You'd probably be better off with an extended cab, I had one the same year as my four door and that thing went everywhere pretty much stock haha. If I would have kept it I would have done a solid axle swap, lockers, lift, and tires. It would probably go way more places than the four door but I think it's neat to take a land yacht where it shouldn't be lol

      I know how you feel. Keep an eye out for those deals! I bought the truck I traded for this one with savings from working a job that paid under $6 an hour and a little money some folks were kind enough to give me at my high school graduation party. This truck was actually my daily driver through my early 20's, now it's more of an offroad adventure toy and a backup vehicle if my car or my other truck is down.

      @@ordinarygamer1353 if you want my honest advice I would tell you to get a daily that's cheap to drive before you buy the truck unless you absolutely need a truck. It's way easier to save money for a truck while you're driving a cheap daily than it is to save money for a daily while you're driving a truck. Especially a diesel. I learned this the hard way haha.

      Right now the truck has a full spool in the front and a detroit locker in the rear. Eventually I'd like to go with selectable lockers front and rear so I can turn on hard surfaces in four wheel drive without hopping out and unlocking a hub and stay straight on icy angled roads. Honestly though full lockers work great on this truck other than those two situations. The turning radius is so wide that it doesn't chirp the rear tires when you're turning ever like it would on a short wheel base vehicle.

      PopsAndAlly my tires were aired down to 20 up front and 15 in the rear in this video. But these tires are load range E and they are a 12.5 mounted on a 7” wheel so you don’t see a bunch of sidewall distortion

      Yeah for sure I understand. The tires it's on now show air down a little better for sure. It's funny you say that because I just bought a bone stock 97 crew cab long bed. So far we've done a 3" downpipe, resonator/ muffler delete, and replaced the factory air box with a huge washable filter from AFE.
