      Thanks a bunch for your continued watches and encouragement. We are definitely glad it's not a job we do at that scale too often.

      Welcome 👋 So glad you found us and I hope you enjoy our shares. Cooper joined our family nearly a year ago after a lady was looking to rehome him. And I am so glad he did, as he is the most beautiful boy and we love him. He is ball mad, so this property and our family has been a good fit for him too. Back in our videos, we have one from when he joined us. He is such a different dog now from the nervous boy he was back then.

    Such an Aussie term 'spit'.
    Great work, I need to get out and do the same whilst we don't have rain up here in the tropics.

    This was so interesting to see..I love seeing how well clustered your orchard is in terms of a future concept for spacing. Thanks team ❤

      Thanks a bunch Alison 😀 I must admit that I do wish we had planted a bit differently in a way that was easier to protect. But this prune will be a big help in getting space back.

    Your olive trees look great! Hopefully our fruit trees will get to that stage one day! Great job!

      Thanks a bunch. Although they look lovely and there are quite a few we have planted in different spots and different varieties, we are still yet to get a single olive off them!!! I still haven't put my fingers on the why, as some are now around 15years old. They get flowers, but never olives.

      @@Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus Oh that is disappointing! I heard that Olive trees need a long time before they fruit but not that long! I wonder why. At least they look nice :)

      @Tinachimneycreekfarm I so agree that they do look lovely. I'm guessing there must be something eating the flowers, but I have never spotted the culprit. It's certainly a mystery!!!

    How will they fruit this season? Or will it take until next season to produce well thanks for the video love watching you guys x

      @Bush_Edge_Homesteading_Aus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Kellie, thanks for your lovely comment ✨️ There is still growth on most of the trees that is already just starting to flower. Although there will be less flowers to develop into fruit, having pruned so hard, what does move on to producing fruit will now be able to be protected. With them so big before, most trees were impossible to protect.
      You are right though that next year though will be a much better crop 😀

    Do you find with hard pruning citrus ie ..lemons. that you miss the next fruiting season...id like to prune my mothers lemon tree but just not too sure how to go about it

      It does reduce the next harvest. One thing hubby does is leaving some limbs to fruit though, where he goes super hard on others. The peach tree in the vid is a good example. It also helps for the health of the tree, not all being cut right down at the same time.

    can you get dwarf varieties of these fruit trees ?

    • @miss_mish
      @miss_mish 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes. You can get dwarf varieties of most fruit trees. You just need to find a company that supplies them. Here in Australia, I know of a few that supply them. I'm sure there are many more though.

      Its a good idea, but these pretty much are all dwarf trees. At the level of maturity they are now, they still get some size about them.

      @@miss_mish , I have dwarf nectarine , peach , pear and apple , I bought them at the local nursery , to be honest if you have the room you are better off with normal size fruit trees and just keep trimming them to a height that you can reach to pick the fruit and net them . The only reason I have miniature is I live in a unit .
