Big Rock was my first electric when I moved on from nitro. I still have a bone yard of nitro parts and chassis enough to build one or two last monsters but I am all electric from here on out because of this rig. The thing is tough as hell and blasts right out of the box. I have had mine a little over a year and it is still factory minus the servo that just burnt out a few weeks ago but replacing parts is insanely easy too. I had it back up and running in 30 minutes (including drive time to hobby store lol). Great value, I'm an arrma guy. My typhon 550mega is going to be getting it's 3s upgrade soon, I have watched yours and others videos on this and it looks like a fun upgrade and my son wants it to be "fast like the big rock" lol. I'll see what I can do. This channel is great. Thanks!

Returning to the hobby after a couple decades.. first car was the Tamiya Fox that my dad built “for me” ... and I finally got to bash it with my friends seven years later when I was a teenager. Your videos have helped a ton as I narrowed down my list looking at quality, durability and sheer excitement. Walked into a local hobby shop today and the guy had one of these Big Rocks coming in later this week with my name on it!!
Dude...I just got a Kraton and a 3S Typhon and I’m blown away. The 3S Typhon steals the show as far as price to performance. Unbelievable. Great hobby. Love giving my daughter the helm of the Typhon and telling her to “give it hell.” lol.
Nice! The Big Rock is also my newest RC, just got it earlier this week! What a coincidence that you and Kevin Talbot also picked up a Big Rock this week as well. The Big Rock needs more videos on TH-cam, it's the best 1/10th 3S 4WD monster truck in its class. It's better than the Granite because of the longer chassis and wider arms. Longer chassis results in more straight line stability and less wheelies, which means more power to the ground which means more speed. Wider arms result in more stability in turning, less rollovers, and softer suspension, so it handles better and soaks up bumps better too. So maybe the Granite is what some people want if they like the instability for doing flips. But I like high speed driving through all terrain and my jumps are only high enough to do a single backflip lol so the Big Rock is more my style.
Exactly! I own the granite 2s and 3s trucks, but I think the Big Rock will fly more like my Kraton 6s (better balanced and longer wheelbase). Both can be fun!

I love my Big Rock. I did get Granite tires for it though as they're a bit wider. The stock tires ballooned too badly for me above 40mph to keep traction on pavement. The whole car would start to slide like it was on ice. Other than that, the thing is a beast.
I went with the duratrax wheels and tires there made specifically for the big rock. But u will need to use metal washers underneath your hub nut due to the wheel plastic tending to bend when landing on them awkwardly.

Mine did that as well. Check your axles if it’s the tires in the rear. It’s tricky to get in there but you’ll need to take out your drive shafts and then it’s the screw inside. You’ll need to tighten those and that should cure your problems. Cheers 🤣
Had this for 4 weeks . And I love it. So far the only things I broke which was my fault was the servo with the steering rate too high during small jumps, and I stripped the diff case I recommend to upgrade hot racing diff case

big rock is a great truck id do steel diffs driveshafts and 4s system and slipper with steel spur from 4s kraton and then it would be bulletproof. from my experience that was what i ended up doing on mine. differentials, driveshaft yokes and slipper clutch splines are the weak point on these arrmas. on 3s in stock form they will hold up for a while though.
IC5 and EC5 are practically the same. IC5s just have an extra wire that’s allows the battery and ESC to communicate- if you’re using a smart ESC and battery.
I’m not trying to sound condescending saying this but there’s another reason that graphoncast didn’t work out to have much speed. The Max10 standard is just under powered for the setup. See, KV doesn’t really make much if any of a difference in power. What does is the magnet size. Besides castle though, no other manufacturers give out magnet specks, but the general rule is the bigger the motor the bigger the magnets. So the Max10 combo being 3652 (36mm diameter by 52mm long) and the stock arrma combo has a 40 amp better esc and 8mm longer motor at 3660 so that helps the BRCC a lot.
@@10thScaleGarage various group members and iirc Holmes Hobbies says the same thing but in a different way. When you consider how KV is altered, it makes sense. All they really do is change the amount of windings in the stator, and while that does remove a small amount of electromagnet material it’s really not all that much. But wider and longer magnets will make much more of a difference between 2 motors of the same KV. You won’t always see a performance benefit like significant speed or punch increase from a already adequate motor but you will see lower operating temps.
Need to buy a £350 truck for my gf or dad to use when out doing light bashing with me. I have a vorteks, outcast and notorious. Just want them to enjoy it and maybe something for me to use on the odd occasion. Granite or Big rock? I'm struggling to work out why one is preferred over the other? Mostly looks? Should I consider the senton? Or anything else? Or maybe another vorteks? Thanks
my grandson is asking about a " Arrma Big Rock " for driving around the barnyard and i'm not sure what the battery requirement would be for this truck . I know it will run on either 2 or 3 S but what C- rating would you recommend?
Just a FYI, the Big Rock crew cab V3 doesn't come with the spektrum firma smart esc it comes with the arrma blx100 amp esc. The only arrma 3s vehicle that comes with the spektrum firma smart esc is the Arrma Vorteks. The granite, typhon, senton and big rock crew cab come with the blx100.
SupurDrakesrcs I know you wasnt talking to me but I would pull the trigger on the senton I have the v3 senton and love it its the fastest out of the arrma 3s line its also ready to take tones of abuse!!!
I have a Senton. It's a beast! I don't have a lasernut but that looks sweet, too. I don't think the losi could handle the abuse like the Senton, and the Senton shares a lot of it's parts with other arrma vehicles, so parts are easy to find.
I have the bigrock iv bashed it very hard ,shell is broke up and just broke the power wire from ecs it really is a tough truck cant go wrong with the bigrock
@@10thScaleGarage aye man love your vids, try to turn the rods by two turns while holding the middle, I recommend taking off the rod to adjust it , I heard supposedly if you switch around the rear arms then it'll straighten out even if you can't tune to toe lol
Thanks for the review. You will give your opinion on whether to get it or not, all the other videos I've seen just tell you about the rc or you just watch people drive it. I do have a question though, what type of connector does the big rock have? I have to get batteries and want the correct connection.

A bunch of people told me it wasn't for bashing cuz of it's big wheels and weight. Just backyard use. I question that now obviously after seeing your videos. I was told by local Hobbyshop that the landslide with the upper and lower plates from m2c chassis make it an absolute tank. I looked it up and looks legit. I'm thinking, why the hell haven't they done that with the shredder yet!? Anyway my bad for butting in.
@@AG4runner small upgrades as I break stuff. Nothing major. It’s pretty fast. I’m happy with it but I do run it in the grass a lot and I think the big rock is better for that.
@@10thScaleGarage I bought some 1in rubber hose from auto zone put some on my big rock and granite wheelie bars Wheels if it works for you can you put it on your channel.
@@10thScaleGarage I got about a foot stuck the hose around the wheel a cut around it with a razor flush trimmed or grind got some gorilla glue spray spray inside rubber you cut.
The big rock is a great truck but Horizon Hobby knows what they are doing. They say it's a good price. The entire truck is plastic and if you been in this hobby for as long as l have and been a hardcore basher. By the time l upgrade it to my level with hardcore bashing parts. A 400$ truck turns into a 900$ truck. The truck is surprisingly durable consider ieverything is composite plastic. But has to be completely overhauled with HR parts to run on my level.

The Kaiju is 4S-6S. There isn’t a great way to run the Kaiju on 3S. You’d have to buy/ build a battery loop. I love the Kaiju, but for the money, the Big Rock is hard to beat.
Oh snap. Good question. I have both.... big rock for stunts and hard bashing. Kraton for speed, and general hooning. I even took my Kraton to the track once and it performed awesome.
Define “led kit.” The big rock doesn’t have any light buckets or any place to mount lights, but there are kits out there that come with bulb housings. You’d have to drill holes in the body where you want them, and they would just be round, but it’s do-able. You could also get a LED light bar to mount on the roof, but considering it’s a lexan body on a Basher, they might rip off after a few tumbles. You can add underbody lights to just about anything if you have a drill and some super glue. Theres not a light kit specially for this truck though.
Well it’s cheaper, that’s for sure. Parts availability is ALMOST as good. Batteries are cheaper, assuming you’d use Traxxas batteries for the rustler, and personally, I like it better than the rustler.

This is the second gen...correct? I have a 1st gen Big Rock that I am sure I over paid for and it is easy to say, I will not be buying another AARMA product ever as it currently sitting broken on a shelf.... :(
It is. In this hobby, you shouldn't let one bad experience turn you off to a brand. I've had RCs that were broken out of the box or broke instantly, while I've had other brands that lots of people say are "trash" that end up being super fun and reliable. What's wrong with your big rock? Why don't you fix it?

Big rock and the granite have the same esc ,motor, servo. But it's longer and wider than the granite. So how's it so much better than the granite??

Big Rock. 100%. I like it over the granite. It drives better, and might be just a touch faster.

I just got this truck. What is toe setting? Also, what kind of ramp is that you have?

IC5- but EC5 batteries will fit if you don’t want to use a smart battery.

On pavement, yes. On dirt, sometimes. It’ll do it from a dig, but from partial throttle, it varies.

A bunch of people told me it wasn't for bashing cuz of it's big wheels and weight. Just backyard use. I question that now obviously after seeing your videos. I was told by local Hobbyshop that the landslide with the upper and lower plates from m2c chassis make it an absolute tank. I looked it up and looks legit. I'm thinking, why the hell haven't they done that with the shredder yet!? Anyway my bad for butting in.

@@AG4runner small upgrades as I break stuff. Nothing major. It’s pretty fast. I’m happy with it but I do run it in the grass a lot and I think the big rock is better for that.

@@10thScaleGarage I got about a foot stuck the hose around the wheel a cut around it with a razor flush trimmed or grind got some gorilla glue spray spray inside rubber you cut.
The big rock is a great truck but Horizon Hobby knows what they are doing. They say it's a good price. The entire truck is plastic and if you been in this hobby for as long as l have and been a hardcore basher. By the time l upgrade it to my level with hardcore bashing parts. A 400$ truck turns into a 900$ truck. The truck is surprisingly durable consider ieverything is composite plastic. But has to be completely overhauled with HR parts to run on my level.
Looks like I pulled out some $1 flat black paint and sprayed it myself😬

The Kaiju is 4S-6S. There isn’t a great way to run the Kaiju on 3S. You’d have to buy/ build a battery loop. I love the Kaiju, but for the money, the Big Rock is hard to beat.

Oh snap. Good question. I have both.... big rock for stunts and hard bashing. Kraton for speed, and general hooning. I even took my Kraton to the track once and it performed awesome.

What type of led kit can i put on
Define “led kit.” The big rock doesn’t have any light buckets or any place to mount lights, but there are kits out there that come with bulb housings. You’d have to drill holes in the body where you want them, and they would just be round, but it’s do-able. You could also get a LED light bar to mount on the roof, but considering it’s a lexan body on a Basher, they might rip off after a few tumbles. You can add underbody lights to just about anything if you have a drill and some super glue.
Theres not a light kit specially for this truck though.

Absolutely.
How would you compared this to the rustler 4x4?
Well it’s cheaper, that’s for sure. Parts availability is ALMOST as good. Batteries are cheaper, assuming you’d use Traxxas batteries for the rustler, and personally, I like it better than the rustler.

This is the second gen...correct? I have a 1st gen Big Rock that I am sure I over paid for and it is easy to say, I will not be buying another AARMA product ever as it currently sitting broken on a shelf.... :(
It is. In this hobby, you shouldn't let one bad experience turn you off to a brand. I've had RCs that were broken out of the box or broke instantly, while I've had other brands that lots of people say are "trash" that end up being super fun and reliable. What's wrong with your big rock? Why don't you fix it?
