My wife and I enjoyed your video. I like it because it is backpacking in a beautiful area; she likes it because of your cooking. She says I need to up my game. Ha Ha, tuna Mac and Cheese is an accomplishment for me. It is amazing you were the only person at that lake.
Nothing wrong with tuna mac and cheese! Sprinkling tarn is really pretty and quite popular, so it was nice to actually experience it the way I like to experience all my camps! I will definitely be coming back to this area to sleep on some of these summits also!
Thanks! I remember the full moon being pretty special on this camp. I didn’t even need a head torch to see outside the tent that night. Appreciate you watching another video 🙏😀.
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked the drone shots. I feel like it gave a better perspective of the area. Excited to continue using it! Have a great week!
Was waiting for an uninterrupted hour where I could give this my full attention and needless to say I'm glad I did. Great Trangia recipe, I am all over that too, and as if your cinematography wasn't enviable enough you now have a drone in your arsenal! Good old Mrs G.S.. Keeping them coming Sir! I love my Trangias - have been using them for nearly 40 years. Were have the gas burner, the gel fuel adapter and the meths burner, depending on what we are doing :)
Another cracking video!! Well done and thanks for sharing. Having just binge-watched several of your adventures I find it amazing that you cook better meals on your knees, butt and sometimes on your back, than most ordinary people can do while standing up!!! And all in a tent!! With storms sometimes raging outside!! Incredible!!.Quick question, just out of interest, why don't you prep all your veggies and stuff before you leave the house? Or is all the slicing and dicing in the tent part of the fun?
Thanks! I just really like cooking 😃. That’s a great question. I will usually pack all the ingredients in a bag and put it in the fridge usually a day or two before a trip so it’s ready to go. If I cut the veg ahead of time it has a tendency to dry out or wilt. And slicing and dicing while out on the camp is fun 😜. But mostly it just keeps things fresh for as long as possible. Really appreciate you watching all my videos. Since you are bingeing my videos I have a question for you. Out of curiosity, do you like it when I add some background audio for the hike or when I keep just the natural sounds? Any feedback is really appreciated!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors Personally, I prefer just natural sounds, rain, wind, birds, deer (and the opening of beer cans!!) etc. When you say "background audio", are you referring to your commentary, or do you mean added music? Some posters on TH-cam add in music which they think adds to the atmosphere of the video. Nothing wrong with that if it is done tastefully, but often it is only the creators music preference, and sometimes that personal choice is not appealing to the majority of viewers, and detracts from, rather than adds to the overall effect. I have watched several videos where the music is so bad, that it is almost unwatchable! I cannot remember any time where you have added music, so if you have done, you must have done it right, because it was added so subtly that I didn't notice it!! Cheers.
@@madcat1007 really appreciate the input. I thought this may have been one of the videos that had music in the background during the hiking portion, 🤣 guess not. I’m sure you’ll get to a video where I’ve added some subtle background music during the hike. I haven’t added really added anything to the past few videos. Thanks again for the feedback.
So you didn't get a sunset but you got a clear night with a full moon over the Lake District and a pretty sunrise sky. That's saying a lot. I've been drenched on my lake district hikes! Another great adventure, thanks for sharing.

Some stunning shots in there of a great trip. I am very surprised that you don’t have more subscribers (yet!) One possible suggestion on the length of this (though I am fine with it personally): some other outdoors youtubers split longer trips into multiple parts, so you could maybe have done a Part 1 and a Part 2 with this. This is a national park but all the land is still privately owned. Which is still a weird concept for me having come from the states. All the paths are public and many people wild camp in these mountains very often. Generally good wild camping etiquette is pitch late, leave early and always leave no trace 👍. I typically try to go during the week if I can and I rarely even see anyone. Hope that answers your question. Appreciate the comment!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors Thank you for the explanation. So, you say using the pathways is no problem because they are publicly owned. The rest of the land is private property. You call the camping wild camping. Does it mean officially camping is not allowed?
Technically wild camping is illegal in the UK unless you get the land owners permission but in national parks like this as long as you are respectful of the land it is generally tolerated
@@GoingSoloOutdoors Interesting. Where I live, that is not the UK, privat land owner are not amused about wild camping and it is strictly, and by law, forbidden to camp in something like a national park. And there is no tolerance by the police. In the UK it seems to be a little different.
Wild camping in England and Wales is not allowed, however I can't see how this law could be enforced. You might be approached by some sort of authority and politely asked to leave; provided of course they will themselves climb up before the sunset to a remote place like this ;) It is OK to camp in Scotland though thanks to Land Reform Act 2003 "right to roam". There are few restrictions in Loch Lomond area (where stupid people were leaving rubbish behind), but Scotland is safer in terms or regulations.
I probably wouldn’t be able to do it while on a camp because I normally don’t have any signal but I wouldn’t be opposed to a live stream at some point 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors I thought about the signal problem. On TH-cam I once saw someone using starlink from Elon Musk with a rebuilt starlink hardware for better transport. It was incredible. You have internet access pretty much everywhere. Otherwise you could stream from a location with good normal 4 or 5G internet connection. In any case, I would watch it!
Thanks for watching and the feedback! I felt like it was too much talking as well. Do you think the hiking talking parts or the tent talking were too much? The feedback helps.

I love my Trangias - have been using them for nearly 40 years. Were have the gas burner, the gel fuel adapter and the meths burner, depending on what we are doing :)
Definitely one of if not the best cook set ever made 👍
Another cracking video!!
Haha true. I knew the weather was going to be unusually great so I was being greedy! I just get frustrated in winter when I run out of daylight. Really appreciate the continued support! ATB
This is my other account and I'm still watching you Sir cause you make better video than the others 😉
Thanks for the continued support! Have a great week!
I hadn't seen this one. Nice drone shots!! (Say thanks to your lovely wife for us, hehe). Oh, sorry for the camera, it seems that you could replace that plate all right. Were you able to camp on top of Great End later this year? It would be nice to see that one. Again, thanks for sharing your adventures.
Thanks! The drone has been a fun addition to the camps. Always really neat to see these areas from a different perspective! I have still yet to camp on top of Great End. When I went back later that summer I actually passed right by and hiked to the summit of Scafell Pike for a camp which was really fun. Thanks for watching another video. Hope you have a nice weekend!
This was a glorious video, well done man. Such nice drone shots but my favourite was you collecting water with the mist rolling through in the background…ethereal 👌
It was a very pretty evening. The clouds rolling through the valley was one of my favorite things to watch as well! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! ATB
I feel like I probably made the same comment on one of your other videos but still: some really beautiful footage there!
I really appreciate you continuing to watch my videos! Thanks again for the kind words. Have a great week!
another great video. have many happy (and one scary!) memories of sprinkling tarn. i generally go to scotland these days but this and your other videos have inspired me to 'get back into the lakes'. yeah, for me, grains gill is the best route
Thanks! I need to do more trips to Scotland. I’m going to try to go to Nevis in January. The lakes are not necessarily close to me, but it’s worth the trip every time. Really appreciate you taking the time to comment. Hope you have a great weekend!
Ah man, this video was absolutely brilliant. It had everything, the landscapes, done footage and the cooking. Fabulous video, well done 🤙

Thanks man! It was a fun camp!
Hi, I've just discovered your channel today (after Thornhill Ultraheavy' tagged you in his Instagram story) and I've been binge watching a few of your videos throughout the day! Your videos are superb I've really enjoyed your videography and the camp cooking looks amazing. I'm definitely going to have to try the Fish tacos from the beach bivvy camp!! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work 👍🏕️
That’s awesome! Welcome to the channel! You should definitely try making those tacos. I even surprised myself with those! Thanks for watching some of my older videos and for the kind words! ATB
Brill vids aren't they Barney? In fact it was both your good self and Mr GS doing Trangia 27 beach vids at around the same time that persuaded me to finally take the plunge and get one myself!
Dude! That looked amazing! The location, beautiful, the food, proper lush, and the drone shots! Incredible.
Great great video. Top work my man👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯✌🏻
🙏🙏 Thanks for the kind words! Really excited to start showing off some of these beautiful places with the drone!
I enjoyed this adventure very much, thank you! Awsome drone footage and i always enjoy watching you create a good meal! We have been hiking three times this week, after a month of none (due to Christmas preparations, Christmas and New year) We have so enjoyed it, altho our muscles are a little sore lol!
Sounds like a good week! I always enjoy the sore legs after some demanding hikes. Thanks for continuing to watch my videos and taking the time to comment! ATB
@Going Solo Yes it was demanding but fantastic and our legs are still sore lol! You're most welcome too!
Awesome and thankyou
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video and edit 👍
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
Great video🥰
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Heaven 😍
Love the Lake District! Thanks for watching!
Good luck with the camera base
I was able to remove the base and glue it back. Secured it further with a metal handgrip that also now covers the baseplate. Hopefully this prevents any further breaks 🤞
Great video! I like the drone parts! Which jacket do you wear in the video? Have a nice evening. Greetings Markus
Thanks, I’m really enjoying using the drone! I am wearing the Fjallraven Keb Jacket and the Fjallraven Keb padded hoodie. Have a great week! Thanks for watching!
Just a thought!
Thanks for the feedback! The last few videos have been a little long. I really need to work on getting the videos shorter! I felt like I had a good rhythm when I wasn't talking in videos and I could keep it around 30 minutes but now that I'm rambling it's definitely adding time to the videos. And playing with the drone definitely didn't help the length in this vid! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Have a great week!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors the videos are great. However, I had trouble finding your channel again. When I searched for Going Solo, other channels showed up. Fortunately you were in my subscriptions. I'm not sure why you are not showing up when I search. Perhaps because you are in the UK? By the way, you are not rambling. It is great to hear what you are thinking. Someday, these will be treasured by your children and future generations.
@@larrydonna369 Thanks, I really appreciate that! I do think about my kids watching these one day. And after some time has past I’m sure I will enjoy looking back on these trips as well. Not sure what’s going on with the search. I’ve noticed that as well. I originally created the channel with my personal email account. Before switching it over to another account. Not sure if that is causing the search issue. Haha probably just don’t have enough videos or followers to show up in search. I don’t know but I’m glad you found the video! Thanks again! ATB
La estufa que usaste para cocinar es de alcohol? Se ve muy buena
Sí, estaba usando la estufa de alcohol Trangia. Es una estufa realmente genial. ¡Gracias por ver el video!
great stuff fella . new sub .👍
Thanks! Appreciate the support!
Surprisingly, this place looks like Crimea or Georgia ..
The Lake District is a beautiful area! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the amazing video. I really enjoy it. May I ask which type of alcohol you were using? 70%? I always get a lot of soot on my Trangia. Thanks.
I’ve been using a denatured alcohol by a company called Fire Dragon lately. I’ve found it burns very clean. They claim it can be used indoors for ethanol fireplaces as well. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors thank you
@@gldamao no problem!
Hi there. Question: Is the land itself private or public property? And do you have to fulfill any kind of obligations to hike and camp there?
You might be approached by some sort of authority and politely asked to leave; provided of course they will themselves climb up before the sunset to a remote place like this ;)
It is OK to camp in Scotland though thanks to Land Reform Act 2003 "right to roam". There are few restrictions in Loch Lomond area (where stupid people were leaving rubbish behind), but Scotland is safer in terms or regulations.
Have you ever considered doing a live stream?
I probably wouldn’t be able to do it while on a camp because I normally don’t have any signal but I wouldn’t be opposed to a live stream at some point 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors I thought about the signal problem. On TH-cam I once saw someone using starlink from Elon Musk with a rebuilt starlink hardware for better transport. It was incredible. You have internet access pretty much everywhere. Otherwise you could stream from a location with good normal 4 or 5G internet connection. In any case, I would watch it!
Saya suka dengan masakan kamu 👍🏻❤️❤️
terima kasih banyak-banyak 🙏
If you don’t mind me asking (and apologies if this is elsewhere). What drone setup are you using?
I’m using a DJI mini 2 👍
@@GoingSoloOutdoors Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.
Which drone do you use?
Mavic Mini 2. Thanks for watching!
@@GoingSoloOutdoors thank you 🙂. Great footage.
Don't you get scared
Nothing to be afraid of 👍. I rarely see people when I go on these trips and there are no dangerous animals here in the UK.
Spoilt by to much talking, we get what you are doing but it’s just waffle & brain noise
Thanks for watching and the feedback! I felt like it was too much talking as well. Do you think the hiking talking parts or the tent talking were too much? The feedback helps.
I enjoyed the vocalization of your thoughts. It gave me a better sense of your family situation and the balance you are striking. The shout out to your wife was really cool. Carry on being human.

My favoriye part is the cooking. Cosy and inspiring. Thanks for the videos. I also like the length and the pace.
I appreciate the feedback! I’m partial to the cooking part as well … and maybe the eating portion that I don’t film 😋. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
