I think Ben is not that different from many unbelievers. He doesn't want to think about sin in light of the cross. Either they believe sin isn't that bad or that their sin is different. Either way, they think God will just ignore His perfect justice and let them into His presence regardless of their sin. And, believing that, they scoff at Christians who, placing their faith in Christ, have that barrier between them and God removed forever. But if they (and Ben) would examine the scriptures and see God's hate of sin, they would realize their belief is insufficient. Pray for Ben. He has been confronted with great Christians and their evidence for Christ and is surrounded by Christian coworkers. But he has hardened his heart thus far. But God isn't done with him yet because he's still alive.

The argument from prophecy is an underappreciated neglected argument. I think it would be particularly effective with many Jewish people. A good book on this is The Messianic Hope by Michael Rydelnik as well as the Moody Handbook of Messianic Prophecy by the same author. The Messianic Jew Michael Brown has a lot of good resources as well. So does the Israeli Messianic Jewish ministry One for Israel. Finally, the entire field of biblical theology is a gold mine for seeing how the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation is a single unified consistent and coherent story about the Messiah Jesus, along with many other themes (e.g. redemption, atonement, the temple, Eden/the New Eden or New Jerusalem). An old classic is The Unfolding Mystery by Ed Clowney. A newer book is God's Big Picture by Vaughn Roberts. 😊

What's also really important about the resurrection of Jesus Christ is that he resurrected in a new and glorified body that is alive and does not die, while Lazarus, who was also resurrected still died after he was resurected. Learning this really made Jesus' resurrection that much more significant to me. (Luke 24:36-40) (Luke 24:42-43) (John 20:19)

@@Dextermoon1 Perhaps I can help here - the Old Testament is a book within itself. It explains the creation, the 10 commandments, Levitical law, etc. It stands alone as a representation of the Torah of the Jews and is there as a REFERENCE for the changes that come to pass in the New Testament. They are not contrary to each other, as without the Old Testament as reference to the New, one would have no idea what changed and why it changed. Half the full story would be missing. As an example, look at the God of the Old Testament - no love there! You did not mess with Him! Fire and Brimstone, pillars of Salt. In simple terms, he was a punitive God - follow the Law or face the consequences. Jesus honored his Father's Law and Temple, but his message was forgiveness and love which was the gift he gave us with his ultimate sacrifice for us. The curtain to Heaven was torn and now ALL who believed had access.

The core issue that you're going to have with the minimal facts argument is that none of these points lead to the validity of Jesus being resurrected. The most these facts would get you, assuming they were true, is that people believed Jesus resurrected. But it does not get you to why an independent agent, such as myself, should believe that it's true. The minimal facts argument is great when Christians tell other Christians this argument as it helps to bolster their own faith. But it falls very short at convincing non-believers that it's true that Jesus resurrected.
Legal historical method shows it is overwhelmingly true. I pray your blinders are removed.
I'd go so far as to argue that the facts as presented, including the "vinegar" (Mark 15.36) and Pilate's surprise at how quickly Jesus had died on the cross (Mark 15.44) suggest a trick which partly worked, only for him to succumb, probably due to infection, a couple of days later (Mark 16).

If we're looking to prove the truthfulness of the Bible, you don't use the Bible itself. The reason for this is you don't know if the Bible's true that's the whole reason the question was asked. If you use the Bible as the source for the truthfulness of the Bible then all you're saying is the Bible is true because the Bible says it's true.
Let's say that I create a book and in that book I write everything in this book is true. Then when you read that book you will read that it indeed does say everything in this book is true. Thus using this circular logic it would mean everything in that book is true. You see how you didn't actually provide any accounting for why the book is true outside of the book itself saying that it's true.

I think people reject the gospel because they are confused about Gods character. I didn't really understand what atonement was, or why Jesus had to die for our sins until I got a deeper understanding of Gods Holiness, Righteousness, and Justice. It all clicked after that.

6:18 of course Craig would argue that none of these meet the requirement to be the best historical evidence. He must say this from his worldview. We already know that he's dogmatic about his belief system. So the only conclusion for him can only be that is Jesus's resurrection. The other thing I’ll say is that I’ve watched quite a bit of Ben’s Sunday specials if not all of them. The actual conversations are longer and the goal is usually breadth not depth. It’s not a “dodge” necessarily as the point of the Sunday Specials are not evangelism, which certainly doesn’t happen in one conversation anyway. Part of this “dodge” as you call it could also be an edit.
I don't see Ben Dodging here, I think people are seeing what they want to see. At worst you could say he was interested in the discussion for discussion's sake, and wanted to keep it moving. He didn't interrupt, he simply moved on to another question. I think the entirety of his point about atonement was allowed to be made.

Interesting thing to consider is; Judaism and Christianity are the only two religions where one claims to be prophetic and the other claims to be the fulfillment of that prophecy, while being rejected by the former, despite its own prophecy of that exact rejection of it's own prophecy.
