@Hewhoremains I just started rope work for window cleaning and my employer paid for my training as well, so I am near the bottom of the pay scale for rope techs. I make $25 CAD / h. ($19 USD / h.) Some of the more experienced guys make $30 CAD / h. People who mix a more skilled trade in with rope work, such as welding, make $40 CAD / h.

But at this point I believe in myself and trust myself to be professional, and indeed to walk out if I do realize that I really am not the person for the job.

    • @HighStandardRopeAccessLtd

Hi @NK, it is physical but its a matter of technique mostly, with the time you will master that. The best workout for caving, rope access etc is rock climbing, indoors or outdoors.
Rope access is a mean of access for a certain work to be carried out. You need a trade or experience in something, if you just clean windows is a different story.
Also a good rock climber it's not nessesary a good rope access technician and vice versa.
      Good luck.

    -Honey?
    Yes darling?
-The light is broken again, can you fix it?
    Sure, how high is it?
    -I think about 120....
Oh, ok, I'll go buy a new one, be right back.
(Drives to nearest supermarket, buys a 120w lamp bulb).
Alright honey I got the 120w lamp bulb for the lamp, now where's the broken light?
    -Up there... (points upwards).
Up where? I can't see it?
-You see that tenth floor window over there? If you look really closely, you can spot it right next to it. It's about 120ft.
    120ft....? I thought you meant...
-120 watts? Oh no, it uses 666 watts.
    Aw hell.
-Should I call a professional honey?
(Gulps) Nah I got this. Just give me an hour or so. (Goes to the nearby gun shop, drives back home and shoots the whole thing down).
    -Honey!? What was that?
Yeah well I was going to climb up there when suddenly the whole thing just collapsed by itself. I don't think it's worth repairing anymore.
-But now we don't have any light! What are we going to do?
Don't worry, I'll get us one of those new fancy ground friendly spotlights to light our way from now on.
    -Oh honey! You're so dependable.
I know, that's why they call me Eagle Ey.... Err I mean I'm an expert at these things as well.

hi there particular profession you're doing !! About that projector, is missing a screw so the lamp holder isnt aligned properly: due high temperature when those lams are on, i strongly advice you to speak to the building electrician\maintenance staff and let them provide u another screw to fix it. otherwise that lamp can be too close to a lens
eflective survace, over heat and blewup with the result that u have to lower the whole light to clearup from the debries. On the rope work, a question about why u havent a rope connectedfrom were u started so u can retrieve yourself\ be pulled in case of problem? u are ocnnected to the same railing sistem.. that scare me a ton !!
About the DMX cable it's used also to give the command lamp ON or lamp OFF so the device can be shut down properly (lamp off) while the fans keep cooling. all those discharge lamp projectors should never be just turned off cutting the power supply couse as u turn off the device, lamp goes off but also the fans cooling it (if it isnt 100% passive cooling) so inside it keep the high heat.
If they dont care , good for u, more calls to change lamps ;)

Well, I do had a rope bag for my set of rope so I could be rescued. Also there is another person next to me as you can see if you watch the whole video. There is a person on the ground who can rescue too, so we have been covered.
About the lamp: the task was to change the light bulb and that's it. It didn't work, so we got the whole thing down and to the maintenance so they can fix it and test it there.
It wasn't so simple but here is not the place to comment the details.

About lights like those, cheking if power is arriving to the power socket and being sure about the dmx if it is in use or not it's mandatory for the maintenance staff , i understood your job is change the lamp only, but it could help ya to know a little of troubleshooting in place (saving you to move the entire projector to the ground. last inside cardboard of the lamp should be a little pocket with a isopropilic cleaning tissue , to cleanup the lamp before screwing the lamp holder to the body. i noticed u tried to avoid to touch the bulb it's pretty difficult even at the ground over a desk ... well done ;)

As per IRATA we need two point of contact all time. For rope to rope need 4 contact. I don't see this , thats why I asked

ajay kumar holy crap. 4 rope contacts? I’m a climbing arborist, our standard is two. Why on earth would you need 4? That seems to over complicate things.

The top lid was captured as was the inner one, but not the screws. Clearly the designers didn't think they themselves would be required to replace the lamp.
Strange how the moving camera is disorientating and the height seems us-settling. On the other end of things, I am a non-climber but took a ropes course and had absolutely no fear doing a high slack rope walk and jumping out 15' to a trapeze. HOWEVER we all had a safety rope held by a skilled climber on the ground and trusted him completely.
Regarding the lamp, no LED replacement? Pretty common thing to do these days.
Finally, I suspect next tome the guys unbox and ready the lamps on the ground.
