Wow doing inspections all day long. The easiest and cleanest part of any rope access job. These guys and girls are so lucky. I love my job as a rope tec in Australia but today Im repairing a small 10 storie building. We are doing all the parts the swing stage cant reach . have to climb the scaffold stairs to access the roof. I will have 4 buckets attached to me a jackhammer 2 grinders, a Fine cutter ( vibrating multi tool for cutting out sikaflex ( pollyurathne ) a hammer and chisel, dust mask, goggles camera and by the time I finish my drop of just break out I will be on ropes for 4 hrs and have 2 buckets full of broken render. Its a fun job but sometimes its dan hard work. But its still better than being stuck in an office. My view behind me is sydney harbour bridge and the oprera house. 😍
Yeah man, we do demo and brick work, waterproofing and stone repair on big buildings. Sometimes I'm glad to be so strong for my size for being able to climb with like 80 pounds of demo and 30 pounds of tools on me but my lower back gets a little sore sometimes 🙆🏽
How hard is it to get into? Is the pay good? What is the hourly rate like in Australia? Id like to do it aswell it seems very exciting, after getting your qualifications was it difficult to get someone to take you on? Im in Australia aswell so im about to go do the 5 day training for it
Very well done, you capture and show many aspects of rope access work. Great video work and the editing is impressive, somebody (lots) spent hours on this production. Bravo, Jim H.
We are a small breed, but it's a brotherhood unlike most.. You place your lives into each other's hands from minute one, and any mistake can be fatal; there's a reason it's referred to as the most dangerous job in the world, and damn it's rewarding work. If anyone wants to ask us questions; hopefully this comment is a great place to start. Great Video BTW.. I looked really hard for things to give constructive criticism on, but failed too which is rare. Awesome stuff. If there's more, I'd love to watch it with some popcorn. Well... Okay 1 cretic to the climber at 4:15 is where is your eye protection girl!! And You NEED Sleeves. IDK why but It's my experience that women commit the most OSHA violations trying to show skin, or forget safety gear trying to rush a job to demonstrate they can "keep up," but it isn't a race. Not giving her crap, the point is If that bird shit covered rust flakes she's inspecting blows into your eyes then suddenly you can't see, now you need a rope rescue and often crews don't have a ComTrain cert. rescue detail and because you can't flush your eyes immediately now your eyes could get infected and go blind. Yes this really happens.
I'll agree with you on eye protection but sleeves (atleast where I live) are not a requirement and I fail to see how that would be safer (a few cuts or bruises arent life threatening in my opinion)
