    These worked great for me this year in my Tristar viper G2 410!

      I definitely think that people overlook them for what they are. They have shown great performance for me in everything I've tested them in

    It's great when someone shares a great value like this. You have shared some really nice patterns with the Herter's shells. I don't see myself buying/using a .410, but these seem like a great round. If a .410 load looks that good at 40 yards, a 12 or 20 gauge should look even better. I think what you are sharing is important. Turkey hunters are trying to sort through copper-plated lead, Hevi-13, & TSS loads these days. I shot Hevi-13 # 5 shot through an Indian Creek choke for years, but it's become hard to find. From what you have shared, I would put these Herter's rounds between the cheaper Winchester Long Beard XR, & the more expensive Apex loads I have tried. Of the three, the Herter's may be the value!

      They are definitely overlooked for what they are. I have also tested the 12 gauge Herter's shells on the channel and they did great too, especially from my Kicks .655

    Herters shoot great out of my Mossberg SA 410 with a Indian creek .385

      They are definitely surprising for what they are. I have been trying to get my hands on an Indian Creek for my gun for a while now, but nobody has the correct threads in stock unfortunately. I will eventually get my hands on one to test on the channel though

    I am setting up a 20 gauge for youth or even myself some day. Herter's 20 gauge 3" TSS turkey is the same load/velocity as their 12 gauge 2.75", & that intrigues me!

    • @matttyreeoutdoors
      @matttyreeoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't currently have a 20 gauge to test them, but I have heard that people have gotten good results from them as well

      @@matttyreeoutdoors Maverick 88 20 gauges are still under $200 at my local Walmart. 22" youth or 26" barrels. I am adding adjustable Magpul stock, Indian Creek choke, sling, fiber optic adjustable sights, & going to sponge paint it camo (some excellent videos on that). I have everything (youth model) I just haven't done it yet.

    Can confirm the 20ga Herters shot good out of my 870 sps and primos tw .570.

      They have definitely surprised me for what they are. I expected them to be an average load at best when I first took a chance and bought some, but they definitely proved me wrong

    You put out some pretty good videos. I do have a question have you ever been in a situation to where you're only seeing hens. Where I live since opening day we've seen over thirty Birds ALL hens either alone hen or group of 2 or up to 8 or 12 no Jakes no toms and no gobbles..just tons of hens ever experience anything like that

    • @matttyreeoutdoors
      @matttyreeoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I have been in a situation like that once. It was very late in the season and from what I could gather, I was in the middle of what looked like really good hen nesting habitat. Not long after leaving that spot, I got on a tom about 300 yards away, but he was on the complete other side of the large ridge I was hunting. If I had to guess, the hens were pushing him away from their nests and trying to keep him on the other side of the ridge until they were interested again

      @johnwest2396 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That does make sense thanks, we've set up a couple hundred yards away but still nothing our season opened April 9th and goes until end of May but we just cannot find Tom's or Jake's just hens and I know I'm not crazy cuz talk to other hunters in different areas and they're experiencing the same thing thanks for the response back I was just curious if it happened other places or if it was just Regional

      @matttyreeoutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      @John West yeah, I've only had it happen once a few years ago here in the mountains of Virginia. I would look for a small clearing or field that's near some kind of water source like a creek or pond. Odds are, the toms won't be far from there, especially if there is a slight ridge that overlooks it

      @Joe Slaughter they are great guns, but can be a little tricky to get chokes for wince they use an invector plus thread which not many other companies use. Anything for a Henry, CVA, or Winchester will fit. I think they even have an option that comes with an optic now as well
