  • Check out the Locked In Crew pattern testing a variety of turkey loads for their set-ups this spring! Shooting loads from Verdict Ammunition, Apex, and Federal, through Indian Creek choke tubes in .410, 20ga, and 12 ga. Some of these patterns may surprise you!

    I like that you use those targets for making the video. So many TH-camrs use the cheap paper ones and nobody in the viewing audience can see the holes. Thanks for spending the big bucks making the video.

    I love an over under for turkey. Top barrel gets cheapsmack trap loaded #7.5 lead, the bottom gets tss. Quick swutch keeps me from blowing 9bucks if its anywhere under 30yards.

    I’ve been an Apex man for a few years, it outshoots federals in seemingly every category. Those verdicts were wicked as well. My Beneli sbe3 12 is my pride and joy but seeing what a lot of these 20 gauges are doing really has me thinking. Patterning with some buddys the other day mine was better but not by a whole lot considering the recoil difference

    • @lockedin.productions
      @lockedin.productions  ปีที่แล้ว

      The lightweight, smaller profile of the 20 ga is the main reason we have started to run them, especially for turkeys when in a run and gun situation. Also throughout waterfowl as well as turkey season, there has yet to be a situation where we felt like we should have had a 12 ga. I would highly recommend giving a 20 ga a chance if you’re ever in the market for a gun in the near future! Thank you for the watch and feedback! It’s much appreciated

    Your 20 gauge pattern (Verdict & IC .555) is one of the few combos using that choke that I've seen that didn't blow the pattern. It looks absolutely beautiful!!!! Needs to come to the left just a tick, but otherwise great pattern.

    Good test. I had similar results in all the same gauges except 3 of 4 of my shotguns didn't like Boss, but all three really did well with Verdict, Apex, TSS and for the economical win, Winchester XR. Love to see a longer range test at 40 plus yards. I would love to see you try a waterfowl test with premium shells as well. Ear and eye protection fellows!

  • @-B_G-

    At 20 yds you should go with the apex. It has the most uniform forgiving pattern. Having pellets stacked on top of each other isn’t the “best” pattern unless your shooting paper, turkeys move and you only need 5-10 pellets to be lights out, so the leeway is welcomed if your calling birds to a reasonable distance. At 20 yds you could shoot any low brass load on the market and kill em grave yard dead.

    • @eduffy4937
      @eduffy4937 ปีที่แล้ว

      At 20 yards, why wouldnt you just shoot trap load 7.5s?lol

      @@eduffy4937 - bc what if you need to shoot to 40 yards and you have a freaking trap load in the chamber? You can’t press pause and choose a different type of shell. If you read my comment at the end I say exactly what you said

    You do realize any shot will work at 20 yards don't you? #9 lead is just as effective as TSS at that distance, plus you get a lot more shot.

    • @lockedin.productions
      @lockedin.productions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed they will all kill em dead at 20! Just trying to find the one that gives us the most room for error in case we do have to stretch out on one! Also, there are many more pellets in TSS loads due to the tungsten being denser than lead and allowing for a much smaller shot size and more pellets in the same size payload!

    • @bgdesignandsolutions
      @bgdesignandsolutions 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lockedin.productions #9 lead has more pellets than #9 TSS. Count them.
      1 oz lead has 585 pellets.
      1 oz TSS has 362.
      Same size, and at 20 yards lead is a whole lot cheaper. Go with the lead and forget the high cost, especially if you're not gong to shoot over 20-30 yards or so.
      1200 fps, 20 yards Energy:
      Hevishot = 1.2 lbs
      Pure Lead = 1.1 lbs
      Chilled Lead 1.0 lbs
      Tun Matx = .95 lbs
      Tung Iron .90 lbs
      Bismuth .8 lbs
      Not enough to justify the cost in my books.
      I've shot gallon milk jugs full of water at 50 yards, and there is no difference in penetration.
      But I just use #5 lead and get plenty good results. 52, 54, 62, 63, 64 yard one shot drops.
