An Expat cannot own property except a condo. You have to put the property in the Filipina's name, which is a big mistake because she will end up with the property when you split up. Most foreigners go through several Filipinas. The Filipina's extended families pull her strings. You will be used as an ATM for their entire family tree. I lived there for two years. Don't be fooled. Definitely don't get married because there are no divorce laws, and annulment is expensive and can take several years. I liked Makati because it was one of the cleanest cities and malls I've ever seen, and I didn't need to own a car. Plenty of transportation services. Cheap condos with large swimming pools and gyms, fully furnished under $400 per month.
