    This by far has to be the best detailed vídeo. Thank you so much. Now just to find a shop that will press the parts on the axel for me.

      You don't have to use a press. I just did one today and used a piece of 1½" steel pipe, about 3' long, which fits perfectly over the axle to hammer on the bearing & retainer. Place the rotor drum side down on the floor, place the axle studs into the rotor and use the pipe like a slide hammer to set the bearing and retainer.

    I was dreading doing this job on my buddy's Frontier, given how the bearings are seated on the axle, and not in the housing like my old shitbox, thanks for the video. Feeling much better about doing the job. Everything else I've found jumps around HARD.

    You probably were thinking M205 (the titan front diff) when you said m225. Some of us titan-swappers have the M205/M226 swap as well.
    Thank you again for this video though it'd been 5 years since I pulled one of these.

    Great Video and explanation!! Thanks for sharing!!
    I plan to tackle this on my Xterra soon, I think I’ve got a bearing going bad.

    Awesome video man. My axle shaft seems to be getting hung up on the outer race. The splines reach the gearset but it doesn’t go in far enough to bolt it in.
    Do you have any ideas why it could be binding up on it?

    • @total.nutcase
      @total.nutcase  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't have any issues getting it back in. the end of the shaft does need to be lifted towards the centre of the axle tube to be able to go inside the splines of the centre section

    Great video Man I'm looking to do the same on my 05 Nismo where'd you get the parts? Everywhere I look it says I need the hub assembly even though mines a 226 not 220. TIA

      Nissan sells whole shaft assembly only for some time now. It’s like $750 for one. You can still get the kit at Z1 Offroad. Just type M226 axle rebuild kit on their site,it’ll pop up. Rigt now it’s under $130 plus shipping.

    Thank for the video. Is grinding the bearing the only way to remove it or are specific tools for that?

    • @volodymyrbuchak1852
      @volodymyrbuchak1852 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are tools for it,but they’re around $400. Not needed every day.

    Isn't this a know issue with the axle breather getting clogged and blowing out seals, or does that usually just make the pinion seal leak?

    • @total.nutcase
      @total.nutcase  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is, but not always. Mine leaked even though the breather mod has been done

  • @truenorthmuskoka9077
    @truenorthmuskoka9077 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    My seals leak on both sides. I always thought there was a rubber seal the keeps the oil from leaking out. I also thought that you would need to drain the diff first.

    • @pomz3604
      @pomz3604 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      On some rear differentials you have to remove the diff cover and pull a clip to slide out the axle, then the seal can be easily replaced.
      On the Nissan with the DANA 44 differential you have to destroy the bearing in order to replace the seal, then just have to top up the fluid.

    Can you share the part numbers? I actually have a 2012 Suzuki Equator RMZ-4 Crew Cab 4WD V6 with Rear Locking Differential. The truck is a re-badged Nissan Pro-4X but I'm confused on what part numbers to buy. The (12) bolt differential indicates its an M226 but not sure if there are other version. Thanks

      Nissan does’t sell the separate parts anymore.Whole shaft assembly only. You can get the kit at Z1 Off-road for about $130.
