Thanks so much. My son and I replaced his seal today. We had all the tools we needed because we watched your video several times. Instructions were perfect. Fingers crossed it fixed the leak.
Nicely done. I like the measurement technique instead of counting threads. Gave me confidence to take on the job if the light weep i have now turns into a drip on the garage floor.
I just completed the pinion seal on my 2018 Pro-4x. There are a few differences. 1. I would not attempt this job w/o a heavy duty impact. I could not break the nut loose w/ a breaker bar. 2. I had a washer behind the pinion nut 3. The metal of the old seal just ripped through w/ the seal puller. I have seen other videos where they put a small metal screw into the old seal and use it as a leverage point w/ a hammer and pry it out. This was the only thing that would work for me. Finally, I couldn't get the new seal to seat. Tapping it w/ the plastic hammer caused it to slip out side to side. I Took a piece of 2x4, drilled a 2 in whole through the center, then used a large socket to apply even pressure. TLDR, if you aren't extremely experienced, and you have the money, it may be worth it to pay a mechanic to do the job. I'm pretty handy and usually fix everything myself. By the end, I was questioning if it was really worth it.
Seems like your breather tube needs to be relocated if you didn't do this already, which is why you had the chocolate milkshake. I moved mine up to the rear taillight area.
Nice video. If anything, I'd say pull the front wheels onto ramps and then let the vehicle sit for a while. Shouldn't have much fluid to work around then.
I have one question for you Sir, why your channel doesn’t have a hundreds of thousands of subscribers, I am a mechanic and video editor and I haven’t seen a really nice detailed video about Pinion Seal replacement. You are a pro bro. I am a 49 years old and have one advice to you to succeed online, make a bunch of shorts with very nice editing even if the idea of the shorts is repeated plenty of time from different content makers, a lot of shorts with nice editing get you more subscribers. Good luck brother
I completed the seal and got to golf on time. The hardest part was removing the 30mm nut. I used my old Huskey air impact which made it easy. You will need a 14mm and 10mm Allen to replace the oil. Thanks for your help
How much torque is needed to get that nut back on? Someone told me it was 500ftlbs, is that only when the crush is being installed? Just worried I'm not going to be able to get the nut back on correctly if I attempt this myself...

Thanks for the video! I think I need to do this soon. No drips, but I have a wet looking ring around my pinion seal area.

You're right
Move it? Most likely I would think it was clogged, unable for the hot gases to escape, thus putting too much pressure on the seals.
Good video, thank you so much, God bless you
Why make marks on rear drive shaft? You can put it back randomly. The shaft is balanced in factory.
Amazing skills!!!

great informative video, i'm having the same issue with my frontier.. do you happen to have the national part number for the pinion seal you used?
Hello just go to your local dealer and ask them about that parts, they will provide you the right one.
What is the name of the measuring tool?
Caliper

Rear diff pinion seal leaks because diff breather valve gets clogged or this happens regardless?
Yes that is one reason.
Love it but after watching your video, I find it may be a bit too complicated for me.
You can do it!
@@mixmovementtv3654 lol thx for the vote of confidence. You give excellent instructions Is the scary part.
I have my axle pulled just waiting for the seal at the parts place. It's 1:00 golf at 5:00. Wish me luck

Good luck guys it's easy just make some effort and determination
Awesome video, thx. Does 2015 Xterra pro4x is the same as frontier? thx
Frontier Pro4x probably the same
Will a 4 inch bearing puller go around and grab that case? Or do I need a 6 inch one?
Good question, honestly I'm not exactly sure but better to have the longer one.

That's why you need to put a mark on it.
@@mixmovementtv3654I get the mark part, I was curious how much torque is actually needed for the nut to know if my impact is strong enough.
Is it the same size nut and seal for 2007 pathfinder.?
Honestly I'm not sure about it, but all specs can be obtain in Google
Will this same technique work for a Pro-4x/OR m226 version?
Same thing bro
