So glad I bought one. It sounds awesome!
And what’s crazy about it is that among all the videos I’ve watched on TH-cam, NONE of them designed a sound that I heard already. Crazy what this synth can do!

Thank you for these videos. Been stuck on presets with my hydrasynth for a while. I read the whole damn manual... but it's just kind of hard to really wrap your head around in writing... watching you actually do this is suuupper helpful to actually opening up the sound design capabilities of this.

Trying to decide between this ASM Hydrasynth, the Novation Peak and the Elektron Digitone and I must say...this video has done a lot to sway me to get the Hydra. Excellent videos, thank you for posting well-articulated, fundamentally educational videos that help tremendously in my understanding of such a brilliant synth. Keep posting!

Hydra for overall single synth playground, peak for classic and warm, digitone for the sequencer and performance and FM being awesome

Great tour of the mutants. I just got my Hydrasynth and I'm absolutely loving it. These deep dives are really helping me get the most out of it. Much appreciated!

Thank you for that great series of videos ! The Hydrasynth sounds like a beast, thanks to its powerful mutants and modulation possibilities. Along with the Waldorf Iridium, it looks like the most interesting synth to me at the moment.

Cool, love your videos to death and of course the first thing that comes up when I google "Hydrasynth tutorial" is your videos! These are great, nice work! This synthesizer is nuts!

There are so many options for sound design on this synth. It can go from parp-y Oberheim brass to Waldorf modulating wavetable stuff to CS-80 Blade Runner shit... insane for the price. It makes me feel like a better musician, and I am the world's shittiest keyboard player.

Thanks for these videos. I’m learning quite a bit by watching your demos. I’m new to wavetable synthesis and sound design and I am really fascinated with my HS49. Definitely watching all of these. Most-excellent job sir!

As usual, anytime I watch one of your vids I learn a lot about a synth...even when it’s one I’ve had for months.

Best video I could find on the potential of the pwm modes and the mutators in general! Thanks

Sat with my mouth open it just kept getting better and better. Think the sonic world Jeremy inhabits is one I used to visit all the time. It’s all or nothing. Anyway I came up with a patch. I’ve never experienced a sound like it it’s like rolling waves. Think perhaps I’m in shock, or just a bit tired. Perhaps it’s a middle aged man’s keyboard as the kids seem content with pure simple tones. This is a synth for a man who is a chieftain.

Ok. So last week I got the Explorer. Because I liked too much ordered the bigger one. Liked that soo much (and got 1K dropped in my lap all of a sudden thank you God) so now waiting for the Deluxe. What does that make me? 🤔 But which other synth can you play like a violin? So nerdy perhaps, but musicians choise too. 😎

Nice vid. I noticed you turning the ratio knob and it didn’t work on the FM. The ratio knob only works when the source is Sine or Triangle from the source menu. Else you have to manually change it by the OSC itself.

I really love these videos. Thanks! One suggestion. Be careful about saying “wavetable” when you really mean waveform. It’s a common thing I hear people do on Hydrasynth videos, and it sometimes makes it harder to understand because you’re always asking yourself, “Is he really talking about a wavetable or is he referring to a waveform and just calling it a wavetable.” :)

I'm amazed. So if I understand, with 2 mutants, you can make additive synthesis with 16 harmonics ? Correct me if I'm wrong !

Loving these! In the next vid, could you try to connect it to an external CV? I need hear this "nasty boy" connected to some rhythm.

Been lusting after this (probably the desktop module) and now (in the future) there are even more ASM models to choose from!
I presume the Mutants work in series? As a sound design/editing feature, can you swap them? Seems like you could go in a direction with one and find it would work better AFTER the other?

Just a minor and rather pedantic point (sorry)... don't expect detuning an oscillator to +7 semitones to give a "consonant" interval (e.g. when experimenting with FM). 7 semitones in the equal temperament scale is not the same as a ratio of x1.5. It's actually 2^(7/12), which is about 1.4983.

Sometimes, ya get a bit frisky and watch a bit of porn on your preferred site, and maybe you get a suggestion of "ooh, you may like this" even though it's not at all what you are into, yet you remain intrigued? Eventually you will buy into it, and you end up in a mess, your SO is wondering what all these payments to random accounts are for. They ditch you or file for divorce. And you are left with your lover.
I Imagine this is how you buy this machine in installments.

You make good videos but people who do not have English as their mother tongue have a hard time following you or have to watch parts 2 or 3 times repeatedly in order to be able to follow your very fast speech, plus your hasty movements that make it difficult to follow you because one is actually still busy processing your fast way of speaking.

    • @iamjamessmith
      @iamjamessmith 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

Right under the video, you'll find buttons for pause and play, and a long red line where you can specify the playback point. Maybe use those, instead of criticizing a person's mannerisms and way of speaking.
