=IMPORTANT UPDATE=
- As of January 12th 2024, these mods are still works in progress but they are now much further along in development and have a lot more to offer.
- Restoration Project Updated has now been updated from v26 to v28. The downloading and install process is practically identical (make sure to get the .exe file). It is up to you whether you want to use v28 or not. I am not sure what all it changes and since the talking head mods were made for v26 it may cause some issues using the newer version. I do not know. It may not cause any problems but just to be on the safe side I would recommend sticking with v26 if you want to use the other mods, but if you only want the Restoration Project go for v28.
- Goat Boy's Taking Heads Addon is now updated to v3.6 but all the steps still apply. Just download the new version.
- THAT (the voiced mod) is now updated to v4.0 but all the steps still apply. Just download the new version.
- CEX (the companions expansion) has been changed around quite a bit when it comes to downloading it. The basic premise is still similar but you don't need to worry about which version you download as it is just the main download you need. Also make sure to grab the hotfix, so I guess two downloads. Once getting both the "RPU - Companion Expansion" main file and the "Hotfix for Vanilla NPC Armors" file from the nexus page, there will be a README file included. Follow those instructions to get it working. If you have any further questions, please ask in the Discord (link at the bottom of description).

This is great and very informative, thank you for making this!
Great install guide not only for the talking heads but modern restoration version install as well, thanks man
I prefer the classic heads, but if this will encourage someone who would otherwise not play these games to try them out, I'm all for it, enjoy the experience.
This is great! Imagine that Mr Darkwater here finishs up the mod with like all of the characters in game! And somebody does the graphics overhaul mod, what a dream come true!
Great job Sir, thank you
Thank you so much for this! :D
(Just make sure to get the updated versions)
love your AVGN videos, small world!
@@primernetpl haha wow 😂
Thank you so much!
Thanks for this, also helpful for installing Restoration Project
This game deserves a remaster to update the graphics to a more modern and crisp visual experience. One of the best games ever made, but it's very hard to go back to today. I've got thousands of hours in this game over the past 26 years.
I’m not sure about that.. I think personally it could be updated with better frame rate and such/ quicker interaction stuff but the Art style of the game is to me practically ageless.
@@charleyfirminger9229 Fair enough.
Hey friend thank you for this video really useful 👍
Good video bro!
Amazing Bro
Having Lara part of my squad feels like a dream come true.
Thanks bud!
Does anyone know if I downgrade RPU from v29 to v26 will it delete or corrupt my game? There’s a hotfix for the v29 RPU but I don’t understand the download instructions
Thanks but the companions are not there just to give you a heads up
Realy cool video! But can anyone change Goris appearance to that of the new deathclaws? He looks so uncanny :(
Hi, i was wondering how did you get a Mod file?
when i downloaded the restoration project and unofficial patch it never showed up for me in the fallout 2 folder.
Did you get version 26 of the rpu from github. I know it is on version 28 right now but I'm not sure if the newer versions are compatible
Did you get the one that said .exe
Also what do you mean the rpu and unofficial patch, it should just be one download.
@@killiandarkwater2077 I also don't have a mods folder. I have GOG rpu v28.exe So it sounds like the talking heads dat files are just not updated for the v28?
Hey bro, i downloaded the gog version and I don't have this "mods" folder... Do you have any advice?
The mods folder shouldn't appear until after the Restoration Project Updated v26 is properly installed. I don't know why it isn't there for you, I recommend going to ask the question on the discord. The link is on the main talking heads nexus page. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I don't know what exactly is causing the problems you're experiencing.
@@killiandarkwater2077 thanks for the answer!
The perfect tutorial awesome work, does anyone know if there is a similar mod for FO1??
any other mods u recommend? its my first playthrough
For a first playthrough I’d almost recommend the Base game unmodded just to get the vanilla experience. If it wasn’t so buggy unmodded. But the latest rpu v26 if going to be your best go-to option. It makes the game very polished and a great experience. While the other 3: talking heads mod, that voiced talking heads mod, and the companion expansion are all works in progress. They are still getting releases every month or so. The animated heads has over 200 currently but is not quite finished. The voiced mod has about 40 voiced heads tough there a still bugs in it. And the companion mod is in a very early state and not close to completion. As for other mods i am not as well versed and there just aren’t a huge quantity of fallout 2. And what there are i wouldn’t really recommend for a first play-through.
TL:DR
- Restoration Project Updated (v26): essential, definitely get this.
- Talking heads: get if you want animated faces for you first play through. Although it’s not finished.
- Voiced heads: about 40 heads voiced but still a work in progress. Get it if you want.
- Companion Expansion: wouldn’t recommend for a first playthrough in it’s current state. Get it at your own risk, it’s in early development and very likely to still have problems.
- Fallout 1.5: Resurrection: get this when you finish fallout 2. It is a brand new fallout game made by a czech team.
- Fallout: Nevada: another fan made fallout game this time made by a russian team. Get it once completing fallout 2.
I hope this helps!
--If only the mod didn't cause random freezes.--
Turns out it was sfall issue, not this mod.
I put it in the mods folder and it seems it still not activated. Did i do something wrong?
did you resolve this?
@@Zeppec Yep, the fix is to downgrade your rpu. From v28 to v26, because the creator might not have updated it for the new one. I got it working along with Ecco mod which is fun😁!
@@lakibody hey thanks a lot! I will try that tomorrow
I’m struggling with this now, if I downgrade to v26 will it delete or corrupt my current save, did you have to start a new game after downgrading it?
@@ToTheMaxGaming1 sadly no but there is a nexus forum that shows you can or should be able to downgrade your savegame, but that was years ago and I forgot his username
there were no mods folder inside my game?
is this is a normal?
Some other people have reported not having the mods folder. Make sure you have the .exe RPU version and try reinstalling fallout 2 would be my suggestion. If reinstalling doesn't get it to work i would ask on the discord server. I hope you can get it work
not working in RPU v2.9
sadly doesn't work anymore
The rock says im running the mod but I do not have the talking heads
Are you using rpu v26 because I know there are recently newer versions and the mod isn't compatible to them yet
Hi my game started with memory could be read from and numbers any way to fix it pleaes?
There are any number of things that could be caused memory problems. Your best bet is to do a complete removal of the game and then do a clean reinstall. Make sure the game launches properly before adding mods. If its still not working, try asking on the discord (the link on on the main mod page)
@@killiandarkwater2077 alright thanks i managed to reinstall it with mods but the save files can't be opened again. Sadly I had to make a new playthrough.
@@shadowreaper5413sorry I didn’t realize you were trying to add to a previous save. The RPU requires a new game as well as the companion mod
@@killiandarkwater2077 it did had the same rpu and other mods but the saves dont work anymore. I just hope it doesnt have happen again. It might have something do with saving during combat.
@@shadowreaper5413yes saving during combat breaks your game. I learned that the hard way as well. Sorry
Looks very strange , not even like claymotion as in original version

These look gross lmao
Hey there,
Thanks for the tutorial. However despite the fact this excellent & straightforward instructions, for me it only works partially.
Like Klint, whom you just showed off in the video is voiced & animated.
But at times some characters like Joey in the Den are only voiced, without a talking head yo appear.
This happens vice versa as well, where some characters who should be voiced are only animated. And I even made sure to watch the clips on youtube of the characters who should be voiced.
So Im not entirely sure what's causing these issues.
Naturally I've selected a new game every single time & also tried de & reinstalling the restoration project.
I have the Steam version btw & I use the 64 bit version of windows 7.
And it's not like Im too inept to install mods, because I've done so successfully with New Vegas as well.
This issue seems very odd. And I can provide more information if you need, in order to perhaps help me.
But I can't think of anything else really that could stand in the way of the mod running smoothly.
I'll just keep trying I guess...lol
Bless you brother
I know there are only about 40 total voiced characters so naturally there will be quite a few without voices but if you saw online some that should be voiced then I don't know. Also I have no idea what might be causing some characters to be voiced without heads. My recommendation is that you try asking in the discord (the link is in the video description), the creators are quite active on there and there are people much more well versed in the mod than me so hopefully they can help you. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help and I really hope you find a solution to your problem. Have a great day.
