Thank you so much for watching and commenting ❤️ It means a lot. 😊 Yes, the toe walking is some thing that we’re glad we got on top of for Simon. It has really helped a lot.
When I was a child I walked on my toes, but only some of the time so no intervention was necessary. I'm now 40 and I still do it once in a while when I'm at home or alone in an elevator etc... I can't explain why, but it just feels good! My husband with ADHD was a much more frequent toe-walker than me, and for him it was a serious issue. He actually had to consciously train himself to heel walk when he got older. I'm glad there are early therapies now and that Simon is getting the support he needs. 😊
@@7Aheadfamily I was only assessed quite recently and have only just started to understand my childhood in the context of my autism. Thank you for letting me learn together with you and your family. ❤
My son also wears smo’s but for a different reason. Two things I notice for Simon’s are that when your daughter removed them, the top of his foot was really red. That means the brace isn’t fitting well and likely needs adjusted. Secondly, his shoes definitely look too small. Most orthopedics recommend getting shoes in a size bigger than usual and removing the insole to allow plenty of room for the brace and for the foot and toes to spread out when the child bears weight on their feet. I suggest taking him to the orthopedic with those shoes to have a good assessment done.
Thanks for watching and commenting ❤️. Thanks for your concerns as well! We just had an appointments not too long ago where the doctor checked everything and said that it was his shoes, fit well, and he hasn’t been bothered by them at all. I really don’t see any red marks when we take the shoes off, but we will keep an eye out for that. ❤️
Yeah, I think so, and I originally thought the shoes were too tight as well, but the doctor said that they were good so I guess we’ll keep them for a bit anyways. 😊
I stopped my son from toe walking just by keeping sturdy shoes on him all day even around the house. He loves shoes and socks now and pretty much always wears them by choice because he wore them since he was toddler.

So happy for Simon because he will benefit hugely in the long term from kicking into touch the tippie toes habit

Great question!❤ Walking on your toes after the age of two can be a cause of concern because it can cause Achilles tendon and poor muscle coordination. If you would like you can talk to your pediatrist about this😊❤
Yeah, our friends story really opened up our eyes to the potential negative effects, and with how simple the brace is, it’s worth doing a little preventative therapy. 😊
Regarding sensitivity in the heel I sometimes get this and when Sketchers shoes are not enough to deal with this I get one of those gel inserts for the heel of my shoe from the drug store and that generally works well for me (at least when I’m wearing shoes).
Simon’s feelings about the braces seem to fluctuate. He did say “No owie!” in the next video about the braces in this series. Even so it’s good that he’s wearing them because the pros seem to outweigh any possible cons.
Yes! It has helped a bunch. Simon does not mind wearing them at all, and they completely stop him from walking on his toes. When he doesn’t wear the braces, he also is on his tippy toes much less than he was before, and if we tell him flat, he will go down on his heels.

It may be possible to reduce or eliminate toe walking by providing the person with therapeutic vestibular stimulation (e.g., being swung on a glider swing). Toe walking may be directly or indirectly related to a visual-vestibular problem. Hope this helps❤️
I have 2 boys both autistic and my youngest is 6 going to be 7 this year and is a tip toe walker I was wondering where I can get a brace like your sons I was looking on Amazon and haven’t found any like the ones he has on please if you can let me know

Awesome! Thanks for watching; we are so glad to have you here. ❤️ Just curious to see what Simon may be thinking or feeling, how often do you typically stem on your tippy toes? Is it just every now and then you have that inclination, or most of the time?
They also think Avenue's CFO is something that I can't see. So I'm probably saying the wrong, yo. It just don't stop with this kid. Ivan is a good kid, but hes giving me a lot of trouble right now, and I'm accepting it, but it's very hot with me with him right now, I'm. Breaking down Ivan is a very smart kid. But hes hurting so bad as a broken point as f***But he has broken bones for the way it happened. It was very funny and we were all laughing at it. But he gets so mad when we laughed down. I have it on a go pro. And and I erased it as soon as I've seen it. It was funny but it wasn't it was. Everyone laugh at it but I don't want people laughing at my kids. Because what he said afterwards he was so mad. I never seen him so mad. And I'm happy for him that he got that out though you wanna talk to me. I'll give you my number again very hard for me.
I walked on my toes when I was little, and my little brother copied me. They ended up having to get physical therapy, but didn't have to get braces. I stopped toe walking around the age of five or six.
Great question!❤ We are not against preventing stims, but walking on your toes can lead to pain in ankles, knees and hips along with abnormal stress on the feet, knees and lower back. Hope this helps💕💕
I was a tippy toe kid. At 40 i still do but try not 2. I also was born with hydrocephalus and splastic displasia. Something like that. So my tippy toes could be more because of those disabilities more than autism spectrum
I have level 1 ASD and I feel you guys with Simon, I was a kid that was tending to get loose as a toddler and I at times walked on my tiptoes but only if it made me agitated to walk normally.
I used to toe-walk when I was younger and my parents thought it was because I was short (naturally as a toddler), but then I stopped for while. But now I'm starting to do it again. I don't have an Autism or ADHD diagnosis, but it just feels...natural to me for some reason
Very interesting that you did it for a while and then stopped for a while, thank you for sharing. ❤️. What percentage of the time would you say you feel like you want to walk on your tippy toes now?
Probably around 50-60% at this point. Mostly when I'm out in public, like at the grocery store with my parents. It completely stopped during COVID, and I wonder if it was because I wasn't in crowded places anymore... EDIT: I also do it at school a bit
OK that is very helpful and interesting, it does seem like Simon does it more when he is excited. I didn’t notice the public places though, I will have to watch for that if we take off his braces when we go out. 😊
Well I had one side that walked on top toes and I was also born with two different size legs, so my adult brace helps me less likely fall out of nowhere
Both the twins wanna go loop with their mother and then I told them. I will never send you over to her house. Ever. I would never hurt you like that. I'm doing the best thing. I'm just things to do, and I'm trying to do my best. This is so hot for me.
My son is 5 & autistic. The podiatrist said today that he thinks surgery on his Achilles will help. I'm not convinced as it is not a guarantee & my thought is that is neurological so maybe CBT? I'm so unsure of what to do 😕
As far as surgery on his achilles tendon goes, that depends on his mobility of his heal. Does he spend a lot of time on his toes? Can he bend his foot flat on the ground? You can always get a second opinion if you have concerns. If you can, I would go to a pediatric orthotics office, if you have one available. That's where our son goes to get his braces on his feet. good luck!
My kids haven't gone through my the TV doll told thing I've gone through myself. I'm always on my tip, toes were right. Even you know I'm standing right now. I'm talking about being on my tip toes, I'm on my tip toes. The bulls spin around the island has a cast on the leg. I mean, I'll let you guys mean the kids can walk around but I want to take it easy he won't sit down. I have no idea what I don't do, you know? I did hear the song at my house this last weekend. Right here I feel guilty about doing it because. We ruined, we erected toys and everything everyone was everywhere around my house and even my kids room. I don't want them smoking. Weed in my kids bedroom, and we gotten a big fight. Aboit's very hard to talk TH-cam. Would flag me for some of the language? I would have to say in a different way even in a different way that flagged me. Because some of the things my kids said who a special needs told me off, but they also gotta tell them real molar off too
Over time, habitual toe walking places abnormal stress on the bones and ligaments in the feet, knees, and lower back which can deform bones and stretch ligaments, causing joint pain, impaired function, knee instability, arthritis, and increased risk of injury as one grows older. Hope this helps!❤️

🤔
30, audhd.
Alternate normal and toe walking.
When over stimulated, I don't like the senation of my heals touching the ground as I walk.
Thank you for sharing! Simon prefers toe walking due to a sensory stimulation🩷
I walked on my toes when I was little, and my little brother copied me. They ended up having to get physical therapy, but didn't have to get braces. I stopped toe walking around the age of five or six.
That is so awesome! Thanks for sharing!
My son walks on tippy toes and he's diagnosed with autism. He's about a level 2. I did not think to get him braces. I should.
Not everyone needs braces but I figured that it was a simple precaution.
Where did you get those braces?
Just our local pediatric orthopedic office.
Not sure if you could find some thing like it somewhere else, but the doctor will get it to fit just right. 😊
My autistic son also toe-walks sometimes. For now its not and isseu but its good to know there is a simple solution.
Yes! If you can catch it early, long-term issues can be avoided.
Why do you feel the need to prevent your child from doing what comes naturally to them.
Great question!❤ We are not against preventing stims, but walking on your toes can lead to pain in ankles, knees and hips along with abnormal stress on the feet, knees and lower back. Hope this helps💕💕
nice
Thank you ❤️
I was a tippy toe kid. At 40 i still do but try not 2. I also was born with hydrocephalus and splastic displasia. Something like that. So my tippy toes could be more because of those disabilities more than autism spectrum
Thank you so much for sharing!
I have level 1 ASD and I feel you guys with Simon, I was a kid that was tending to get loose as a toddler and I at times walked on my tiptoes but only if it made me agitated to walk normally.
So glad you could join us here. ❤️ Thanks for sharing! How often would it agitate you to walk normally?
@@7Aheadfamily wen like I was more like on the annoyed side of my day when younger
Okay cool.
Glad to be of some help :) When I'm excited I kinda bounce up and down on the balls of my feet
That’s awesome. 😊 Simon does that a lot as well. ❤️
Hi
Hi!
I’m in my late 40s and I still tend to walk on my tip toes. I still need to consciously remember not to do this.
Thankyou for sharing❤️❤️
I used to wear those type of braces when I was little due to my CP and now that I'm older, I wear more adult type braces rather than kid braces
Thanks for watching! So glad you could join us here. ❤️ It is great to hear your experience, do your braces help you out a lot you feel?
Well I had one side that walked on top toes and I was also born with two different size legs, so my adult brace helps me less likely fall out of nowhere
I see, we’ll thanks for sharing. ❤️ Glad they are helpful.
Both the twins wanna go loop with their mother and then I told them. I will never send you over to her house. Ever. I would never hurt you like that. I'm doing the best thing. I'm just things to do, and I'm trying to do my best. This is so hot for me.
🤔
How can this breaches?
I’m sorry, I don’t quite understand🤔
My son is 5 & autistic. The podiatrist said today that he thinks surgery on his Achilles will help. I'm not convinced as it is not a guarantee & my thought is that is neurological so maybe CBT? I'm so unsure of what to do 😕
Surgery is usually only needed if he can’t bend all the way he needs to. Sorry that you are dealing with that.
Because some of the things my kids said who a special needs told me off, but they also gotta tell them real molar off too
🤔
That's just mean :( Toe-walking is fun and relaxing. Yall really should not force him into walking weirdly.
