    Y’all look so chilled out in the morning’s which definitely keeps your kids chilled which is a fantastic quality to have. I just don’t know how you keep your energy levels up day after day. It’s very impressive. Btw, just an observation from afar, Ezra seems to be developing and progressing his motor skills seeing how he managed the eating on his own with a spoon and attempting to put on his shoes. The school will doubtless work and develop these skills along with everything else they do such that Ezra can progress and develop at a speed that works for him. Said it before and I am gonna say it again, you are fantastic parents to all your kids.

    Hei. I want to thank you guys on behalf of all autistic parents out there. Thanks for sharing your private life moments so that other parents can educate. I myself had a very big help from you guys trying to understand my own daughter. She is 4 and not long ago she been diagnosed with autism. Well she is not fully diagnosed yet, we are still on a paperwork and thats why your channel was more helpful than even government instances. I started to collect the information about autism and started to browse through youtube pages in order to try to understand better my daughter and I somehow landed on your guys page. The thing that made me very attached to your page that when I look to your son Ezra it is like I am looking 100% to my daughter. All the behaviour, the sounds, the acting its samme. She is also nonverbal, just loves to sing, say meaningless phrases from TV but hardly using language on the right time for purpose. When my daughter been diagnosed I understood that I myself do have an autism too. The eyecontact, struggling with changes, anxiety, super organized and so on...though 30 years of my life I was living as normal without somebody even suspecting cause I myself never heard about autism before. I even studied economics in one of the best universities in Norway, even though I am not originally from there. I also have a piano degree. Studied 7 years in private piano school. I am sharing that with other parents so that they know that being autistic doesnt mean that your child can not do things in the future or have an education. Dont give up on your children. Play on their strenghts so that they do achieve things. You never know, maybe they will do even better than other kids. Anyway to summarize I just want again to thank you guys for sharing your life with us. And tell you that it really matters what you are doing and is helpful for some of us. We are going through the samme struggles. Thanks again ❤

    It’s good that Ezra is starting to eat standing up. This should help him with making the transition away from sitting in a high chair while eating.

    I didn't bother making my bed for years. Probably at least 20 years. I just started about a year ago, but I just throw the blanket over. Only so I can use the bed as a table to put things on. 30 seconds. Nothing fancy and I don't take alot of time doing it. When I lived at home, there was 5 people. I always woke up an hour before everyone, so I had the washroom to myself.

    In my former school years, those who were mildly autistic were in the learning disabled class. While moderately autistic children studied in the employment class. Students with moderate intellectual disabilities studied there. The severely autistic children studied in the autistic class, where there were also children with severe intellectual disabilities. As a student, I studied in a class with learning disabilities. Compared to a normal elementary school, the requirements, amount and content of learning were weaker. However, the Special Primary School class was stronger than the requirements and things to learn in the Employment and Autism class.

    Have you tried spraying some air freshener before Ezra comes into the kitchen? Maybe that would help. I do try to make my bed most mornings. It just makes me feel good when I walk into the room and the bed is made. I love to see all your dear children. Our grandson, age 4 with level 2 autism, is such a joy. He is just starting to be "aware" of the world, if you know what I mean? Just started potty training. Fingers crossed. Lol Have a blessed day.

    I was just reading online the other day that as recently as the 1950s some high chairs had a receptacle in them similar to what you would find in a potty chair. In the event that Ezra tends to “go” while eating you might be able to use a similar idea for his bowel training. Then after he finishes eating and doing anything else that he might need to do you could pick up the receptacle, take Ezra to the bathroom with you and dump the contents into the toilet and explain to him that poop goes into the toilet. Depending on where he is with following directions you might have him pull the handle to flush the toilet and watch what happens when he does. He might be less afraid of the toilet flushing sound if he is the one who flushes it. I wonder if this is anything like how Simon overcame his initial fear of the toilet flushing sound.
    As you transition Ezra away from the high chair maybe you can have him sit on your lap at home with a receptacle underneath to catch anything as needed. In other places like restaurants you might still need to have him wear something like cloth training pants with plastic pants over the top or some type of disposable pull-on style undergarment in his size at least until he is further along with his training.

    Hi! My son is almost exactly like Ezra and on a very similar level! My son as well is non-verbal and gets fixated on a certain toy that he needs to hold in his hand and spin. And he makes the same type of humming and happy sound when he wakes up in the morning!

    I also used to put my hands behind my head like that when I was about Ezra’s age. I didn’t really have any friends at that age so I don’t know if that is related to autism or whether it is something that most kids do.
    I started making friends in college and my first friend (Freshman year in college) would sometimes lie down like that in the bed of his dorm room (if he was feeling unusually tired).

    My son was recently diagnosed ADHD. We’ve been having behavioral problems with him since he was little. He didn’t start talking until he was 2yr 5m old and he didn’t like looking you in the eye. We thought for the longest he had a bit of a hearing problem before we’d call his name and he’d just ignore us. I just brushed it off as him being too focused on what he was doing. He would like to run back and forth in the house and twirl around and around. He’s extremely picky eater and always has been. Now he’s 6 almost 7 and his school has been saying he’s acting different from the other. He currently attends a private school with his 8yr old sister who has ADHD. But even though they both have been diagnosed with the same thing my son acts completely different. I have to pack him the same exact lunch daily and if I change anything he has a meltdown. If I pull him away from what he is doing, which is mostly wanting to play Minecraft, he has a meltdown. He throws himself on the floor and repeatedly moves his foot up and down, and gets on his knees and swings his arms back and forth crying as we try calmly him down. I can tell you 10 things my son eats and that’s it. We have to give him multi vitamins and protein supplements just to make sure he’s getting enough nutrients. When he watches tv(Minecraft) shows, he will stand in front of the tv swinging his arms back and forth and then twirls around spinning. We are getting him reevaluated because we feel like he may have more than just ADHD. his sister which has ADHD is mostly just extremely hyperactive, and acts completely differently. I just feel overwhelmed because I took my son to get checked when he was 4 and the people spent five minutes with my son, and told me that he had no issues. Now I have equipped myself with video footage of my son behaviors so I can show them. My son loves to go up to children and try to make friends, but he always comes out extremely awkward. And if he gets blown off he gets so emotional and throws another meltdown. He now looks at me in the eyes a lot more than when he was a baby. That has gotten better. But the tantrums are hard. His picky eating is hard. When he throws a tantrum because he gets pulled away from what he’s wanting to do or a change in a routine at home or in school, it can be hard. I’m really suspecting he has more than ADHD and may be a little autistic. We go in March for his evaluation. I just want to know how to help my son.
    My son doesn’t flap his hands though, he swings them back and forth repeatedly. When excited or upset. We just want answers and to be heard. Also he has incredible memory and knows exactly where his favorite toys are. He can name every construction vehicle. Knows about every monster truck and tells you everything about Minecraft. That’s all he talks about.

      @7Aheadfamily he is elope flight risk and tries to escape anywhere possible which is very unsafe and a danger to himself and others, he also don't just walk, he runs everywhere and anywhere and the transitioning is becoming a problem with school and home (even before we moved March 13th) and gold news is he hasn't asked go go back home but I have spent tons of money on sensory products for his play room like he has ay school (he goes to a only children with autism school) and I am actually a monitor at his school as well but I work with a 17 yr old. (Anyways) sry about that...back on topic now lol he has behavioral specialist coming to work and study him in school and home as well but he's such a love bug and he's so loveable. Maybe it's the moving and the fact that I'm all alone and I work while he's in school so I have no me time, never have and never will, his dad's a big part of hid life but he don't understand what his needs are due to his own disabilities he grew up and is still facing. Bryson loves to go outside but it's not safe for us or him until we can save a lot of moeny for a fenced in yard or he wull continue to run away and into the road, and I made sure I bought a home with a big property and our house site in the back and our yard is outfront and huge but he still gets to yhe rd after .25 seconds of me looking at something for not even that amount and he's boom headed towards the rd. Idk I watched your videos and just decided I'm going to subscribe for 9.99 so I did and this is my journey In text lol ,(: thanks for responding

    I was raised to make my bed, but I could never do it to Mom's satisfaction, so I don't. I think it was Chloe Hayden who suggested doing it so you have a positive accomplishment to start the day. I only toe-walk because it is fun, or when the ground is wet or cold, so I never had braces in my shoes. Oh, and I don't put shoes and socks on till I get to work. Oh, right, sometimes I never put shoes on👣

    I'm more with your friend on bed-making. I usually only make my bed after I wash the bedding b/c its easier to put it all back on properly if I make it in a certain order which thinking about it now may also be a routine I have more then actually "making" the bed. I know I overall don't have set routines but instead subroutines (i.e I don't have a set time to shower but when I do shower I always do everything in the same order)

    It is good that Ezra is in a new school. This should help with his toilet training, cognitive development,and the development of his social skills.
    Who knows, he may eventually learn to say (or at least sign) a few words. Even learning to say just “yes”, “no”, and his name would be very helpful. In this fashion it’s possible to communicate almost anything provided that the other person knows which questions to ask and in which sequence.
    In theory the answer to almost any question can be found with a series yes or no questions provided that the right questions are asked in the right sequence. This is how the game twenty questions works.
    As Rudy Rucker explains in his book Mind Tools the game of Twenty Questions usually works because the Animal, Vegetable, Mineral, and Famous People questions that are usually asked work out to about one million possibilities. The answers in the yes/no sequence in any given game of twenty questions can be encoded as a binary number where (by convention) 0 means no and 1 means yes. The number of possible values in a binary number with 20 places is two to the twentieth power (which works out to 1,048,576) or about one million.
    Ten questions with yes/no answers will give you two to the tenth power answers (which works out to 1,024) or about one thousand.
    The basic idea is that ten yes/no questions have about one thousand answers, twenty yes/no questions have about one million possible answers,
    Thirty yes/no questions have about a billion possible answers, and Forty yes/no questions have about a trillion possible answers. The pattern continues on from there (as you might imagine).

    If Ezra puts his index finger through the loop on the back of the shoe this should help him to pull it on more easily. I find that this works for me when I put on some of my own sneakers. Some of the Sketchers have that. Some other brands probably also do as well.

    How old is ezra? And what therapies has he been taking? Has he imrpoved pver time

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ezra is eight years old now. He has had many different therapies. He’s had ABA Therapy, Speech Therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and music therapy to name a few. And he has improved as he’s grown older. For example, when he was 18 months old, he didn’t even know that he could communicate with me. He has found his own unique ways of connecting socially with people in our family. We are still working on potty training. And he will use his ACC device to tell us different foods he wants or if he wants to go outside. we are teaching him spelling right now, to hopefully open that door and give him the opportunity to spell things he wants to say to us. I feel that he’s improving with the spelling but even that is a long road. It’s hard to look back and know exactly what Therapy helped him improve the most. I don’t know if I could be able to tell you which therapy was the most effective. But I do know that occupational therapy helped me the most. (As the mom) For example, when the occupational therapist came and helped Ezra stim and encouraged it to help regulate his body, I was completely shocked. I was so surprised because I had been reacting in a negative way and hadn’t realized that I’ve been doing the opposite of what I should be doing. So seeing the occupational therapist support, Ezra in his sensory overload meltdowns and in his screaming fits, helped me learn how to parent better. I hope this helps.♥️

    I noticed that you grabbed a pair of underwear and some kind of diaper for Simon. Are you using the placing a diaper inside the underwear technique that my mother used with me when I was in preschool at age five-and-a-half? Or are you having him choose which one to wear on a specific day?
    By the way I read a short time ago online that Pampers Easy Ups are going from the PJ Masks design to a Bluey design. If Simon is regressing slightly in his toilet training you might want to get him some Easy Ups so that he can use use the toilet if he wants to but still be protected if he doesn’t make it. You shouldn’t use training pants too often though or he might get the concept of training pants and underwear mixed up. I have seen it happen with other kids on the spectrum. It happens more often with level two autism but it’s still something to keep in mind (especially considering how recently trained Simon is). You will definitely want to just use regular underwear (without training pants or other diapers) on walks around the neighborhood and trips to local parks. There will be more laundry (perhaps even a lot more) but you want to keep him as trained as possible especially since he will be going into kindergarten in the next year or two.
    If you must have him wear a diaper it’s a good idea to put a pair of underwear inside so he will feel wet and be motivated to use the toilet when he is able to provided that being wet still bothers him.
    For now this pretty much sums up my observations on this subject.

    7 Ahead - I'm currently A high school Junior and the social environment in my school is extremely toxic with very disrespectful students , along with some laid back teachers & admin acting just as bad as the students . Its not just my school ( which is ranked level 1 out of 5 ) that has a bad environment but also ( Elem , Middle , High schools ) other schools within the district & in majority of the US states . The severe vast amounts of derogatory remarks , student fighting , profanity & defiance makes our world a toxic place for mankind / humanity since there are more bad people committing violence & crimes than good people . What is your honest advice on how to handle those kinds of menacing people without my mental health draining significantly ?

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That’s a great question! A few things… Definitely strive to be the light, you can stand out as one who lives a higher law and sets the example, but you’re right that can definitely be draining. If you have the opportunity to get around more like-minded individuals then I would definitely do that. Sometimes choices like that don’t come till later in life, however, so you might have to be the example for a while. Try to find other groups that you can associate with that will bring you up and give you strength. Could be church groups, sports groups, our ASD Club 😉, anything that would put you around people who will bring you up rather than tear you down. Hope that helps a little. 😊

    11:17 I heartily approve of Ezra's disdain for an oh-dark-thirty wakeup call. "Leave me alone and try again at noon".
    Aside from his issues with the smell of Simon's breakfast, I think you've mentioned Ezra has gastrointestinal issues? I find that if I don't wake up naturally and then eat within the first few hours of my day, my stomach hates me until late morning.

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He doesn’t have any growth delay that we are aware of. His pediatrician says that he is on the small side but there’s nothing to worry about. It is good to keep in mind that I am very short. I am only 53. And most people on my husband‘s side of the family are in that category as well. We are kind of small people.

    Since Marie wears a Winter coat at this temperature and has it zipped up she is almost certainly neurotypical. Being on the spectrum I usually only zip up my coat if it is 32 degrees Fahrenheit or colder (or if it is windy). At those temperatures or colder I also wear a hat and gloves.

    • @Java-D
      @Java-D 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Wearing a coat and zipping it up has nothing to do with being autistic or not.
      People are all different. We all like different things. 😊
      One of my autistic sons always has hoodies and coats on. Myself and my other autistic son don’t like any form of jacket or coat on. We prefer to just be cold.

      @@Java-D Many people on the spectrum are not as uncomfortable in cold temperatures as neurotypical people usually are. Of course exceptions exist.
      You are right personality and what people are used to also effects this. For example it common for people in Canada to wear shorts when it cold (to the point of it being an internet meme) and most Canadians are neurotypical just like most Americans.

    • @7Aheadfamily
      @7Aheadfamily  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, in our family, Ezra won’t usually wear a coat, and Simon doesn’t like to either, so in our case both are autistic kids usually prefer the cold. 😊. So it has Benson though, so there you go. 😊
