I hope you’ll share how you pack and move everything! We’re planning to build this spring and packing a pantry with 1500 canning jars, 2 huge chest freezers, plus 2 fridge/freezer combos, tools, livestock, all the various paraphernalia that goes along with that, plus we are planning to rent a spade and move our fruit trees 😳😳 just the thought is overwhelming!
Amanda W moved often unfortunately. Start with packing up the not using this season stuff & move on from there. Don't think about what you haven't done. Start with making 2 lists. To do today & done yesterday. You'll get there quicker than you think.
Congrats! We planted over 40 fruit trees at our last place and then moved just when they were finally about to start bearing! Sometimes an offer comes along and you have to take it!
Way to go! so many ppl strive their whole life to achieve something only for it to disappear when they pass... farmers, animal breeders, work to create and then no one in the family wants anything to do with it and then.... Dispersal sales are so sad...

I only just found your channel and have been enjoying the few episodes I've watched so far. My husband & I live in the northern New Mexico mountains with our 3 carriage horses, laying hens & roosters (roasters), several parrots, 4 dogs and 4 cats. It's hard to grow food here as the earth is heavily sand & clay, so I keep trying to grow veggies in our small greenhouse. Maybe better luck this year. Anyway, I didn't get to watch you establish the place you're leaving, but looking eagerly forward to following your new adventure on your new beautiful family farm! He is 63 and we have been homesteading for the last two years and he feels like kicking himself for not starting sooner and being so far behind. Oh cool! I live in Delaware currently and we’re in the process of buying land and starting a bigger homestead in PA. We’re going to be in Lincoln University, I’m guessing you’ll be further out in the country. But I’m looking forward to watching you guys rebuild!
This is gonna be a fun ride👍 My inlaws are selling their farm but its worth 20 million so no go for us!!! Land is stupid expensive here 20 minutes out of Vancouver b.c Canada. They are making farming an impossible venture here even though our town -(ladner) stated as a farming community not too long ago.

Sounds like an exciting adventure! And this time around, you'll have that much more experience. :o) Just remember when you put the aquaponics system back up at the new place, cycle it for at least 2 weeks WITHOUT the fish before you add them. Otherwise, you'll kill them off. Cycle it with some ammonia in the water (regular ammonia or urine) and use decent sized plants that you don't care if they die (they might...don't use seedlings, they're too tender). The plants will handle an unsuitable environment better than the fish, and it takes at least two weeks to get the good bacteria up and running. (I know you want those goldfish to get big so you can sell them for more, but they'll probably not get very big unless they're in a large, open area. If you had a 15,000 gallon tank, maybe they'd grow a lot bigger, but fish tend to grow the size of their environment, and a 55-gallon barrel won't encourage them to grow very large.)
