Yes the lyrics were written by the late Freddie Santos way back in the 80’s. He wanted me to help write music for an original Filipino musical First Name. This was the first song written for it.
His were the lyrics while I wrote the melody to it.

In a recent Interview Gary spoke about arranging the song and how he tried to guide her to his vision for it, but the most important thing was he told her "Mori, People know you can sing, they have heard you sing..I dont want them to hear you sing I want them to hear your heart", And she delivered...as always.

Morissette became a born-again Christian a couple of years ago. Because she sings with her God-given talent, in my humble opinion, it tells me that she was not "acting" when she sang this in one take. It came from within her heart and soul, her love for our Almighty Father. I'm certain she has gone through some things, in her life, that made her connect to these beautifully written lyrics, hence the tear she sheds at the end. But, I'm almost certain that she sang it to all of us who have been and are going through tough things in our own lives. She sings this to tell us and remind us that all we have to do is ask Him to heal us, to teach us, forgive us as well as deliver us from all that we go through daily. She is a stupendous artist no matter what she sings because she does have the unique ability to tell the story of the lyrics and make us feel the emotions of the words. Thank you for your reaction. She is one in a billion and I can only hope millions of other find out who she is and through her, learn that you don't have to be a cookie-cut artist and lower yourself to a music industry that promotes sinful behavior, disgusting fashion, vulgar lyrics, etc. to be an incredible singer!!

I heard an interview with Gary and he said he wrote this song for a play back in the 80's/90's. He also did the orchestration in his home studio. He says he doesn't even read music he plays by ear. The guy is incredible and don't get me started on Mori.
Garry didn't write the song, a friend did. Garry did write the music score.

My opinion (and everyone has one on social media) is that people look to music for an escape and that is why pop music is secular. I think Morissette is one of the finest singers i've heard in over 20 yrs but she seems to want to put her faith up front in her music. It seems to define her as an artist right now. Shine, Rise Up, Halo etc. Her market might just be faith based music. I hope not....because the world would love to hear her interpret ALL music.

This song was actually part of a play back in the late 80s called First Name (I think) that is why it has a musical or movie vibe.

Eric Santos wrote the lyrics who sadly passed away just before Christmas 2020, Gary just done the arrangement, Gary specifically asked Morissette to do a new arrangement of this song, in MEMORY of Eric.

but in truth many people experience hardship and suffering in the philippines many are poor and the only way we kept happy and to let go of the stress of day to day life was to gather with friends and family and sing... morissette herself started in humble beginnings as well music is part of our culture wither your good or not yes majority of filipinos never had formal training because most could not afford to take lessons or training morissette didn't get formal training until she started going on singing competitions ect.. we sing from the heart based upon our experiences in life... this is why some filipino singers sing good that's all we can do..
I don't see her acting. They let her worship, and they turn on the cam.

The official MV is on the Stages Sessions channel, (Stages is her talent agency) Freddie Santos, who passed last Dec. wrote the lyrics, took the words to Gary, and together wrote the music that night, into early morning. Gary made is OPM Gospel popular, but wanted to rearrange it, and have Morissette sing it. Dave and Mori's team did the video, and commented on the official MV, the whole team were effected during shooting. With videos from Morissette's channel, no need to pause, but always nice to get a reactors opinion a cple of times during the song.

The " One Take " is a bit misleading.....they did a few takes....but do to emotional breakdowns by the team......had to stop and restart......by this is more a " one camera " take, compared to the Official MV on the Stages channel, where you get multiple cameras. She is worshipping in this and the tears are REAL.
