There have been 3 major flooding storms since 2004. They continue to build back in the same places that have flooded before. I am curious how they can get insurance at this point. Pisgah Football stadium is under water again. The mobile homes near the railroad tracks in Clyde have had catastrophic damage before. Swannanoa River Road, Biltmore Village. Canton Fire Dept and Town Hall. It’s no longer a 100 year storm folks. Time to move to higher ground. Stay safe.

There are reasons that many places in Asheville hadn't been built upon. So many newcomers to Asheville and many built in the wrong places, not realizing the history that the local people knew. That area of Tunnel Road by Porter Cove Road... That area was simply not built on for decades because of its history. So now we see a relatively new house washing down Swanannoa River with the flood there. I watched development go on with quite a lot of amazement, after land had been left idle for decades and decades. There's a reason people didn't bother with it.
If you look closely you can see the scars of the past on the land. You can see where a peak water level had once been decades and even a hundred years ago. I'm not surprised that the Rocky Broad is also flooding again, yet so much big (new) money had built around it. Locals wouldn't build there, but the newcomers would because they don't know what the kocals know.

In the aftermath of Helene, benefit from my misfortune and do not compound your problems: beware of an outfit called “Samaritan’s Purse’. These people showed up in my neighborhood in NJ after Superstorm Sandy offering to help. I was away at the time and my wife let them in. The end result was over $10,000 in property stolen over a couple day period. SP disclaimed any liability and said they really didn’t do any background on their volunteers and didn’t even have records of who they were. So proceed accordingly.

@cap9115.. I am very surprised to hear this. I don't know if they were random people posing as Sam Purse?? or not. All sorts of deceitful, corrupt people come out of the woodwork, unfortunately, trying to take advantage of cash in on a terrible situation, tragedy. There are always evil people. And yes, we do have to be cautious, careful who let let in to our situation.. and esp our homes!
But I do know what an excellent reputation of high integrity Samaritans Purse always had. And I know how much they helped, served, aided and funded many areas hit by Sandy, as well as other disasters over many years. S.P. is run by Franklin Graham and has done so much good for so many. You can check them out
I don't know if those were imposters who didn't work for them..? Or were even just one, or few, bad apples the organization wasn't aware of!?
But, so sorry that happened to your family, regardless. A lot of people were scammed during that time I heard. So horrible to rob, steal from those that just lost so much already. We do live in a fallen, dark world.. and we can never be too cautious. I hope your family has recovered from all of that. God bless.

I would like to know if that was a mobile home or a home built on a foundation. But after reading a few comments one person said that the area this house was built was probably land where nothing has ever been built on for 100's of years and that the locals know why structures were never placed there. With the population explosion that the USA is experiencing developers will build a complex on quicksand if he could keep a house from sinking before your homeowners warranty expires.

In Rev. 11:18. ➡️. 18 But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward+ your slaves the prophets+ and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining* the earth.”
……………True for greed people just keep right on destroying natural areas and polluting and now they’re paying for it but there will be more payment in the near future when Jesus returns.

That is so sad. Here in S.C. people are already becoming savages. Fighting for gas, supplies and food. People are just flying thru broken stop lights and speeding around downed trees. And if you treat it like a four way the people behind you barely stop in time and cuss you. About the only thing open are liquor stores so people are getting messed up and driving around. Emergency service lines are down half the time. And it’s not even been a week.
