Wow. I remember an evening with my parents at some of their friend's house, when i was a kid. I don't remember anybody or anything of that day believe me, but i perfectly remember that i played with another kid this game at the Game Gear all the time that night!
I had this, when the Game Gear was new and the screen was fresh and sharp, this thing was awesome. I hope he gets to try Defenders Of Oasis, one of the best and most under rated RPGs around. Fantastic system, waaaaaay better than gameboy in every way, there is really no comparison except they were both handhelds. Shinobi for Game Gear was great also, there were a whole number of different ninjas in different colors to play as, and they all had different weapons and abilities.
Wasn't a big fan that all the moves pretty much had no health disadvantage since they became command moves. You could pretty much Dragon Smash everything without it draining your health in the GG version, lol.
Fantastic game, I have this also for the Sega Master System; had to import it from the UK, the SMS has no regional lockout which us awesome. I also have Streets of Rage 1 for my SMS as well. Of course I have these for my Genesis also. :P
hmm.. I wonder if You could replace the existing screens on the Game gear, The Atari Lynx & the Turbo express with screens from a Gameboy advance ?? Any tech heads out there that thinks it could be done ???
You know what's even better on the PC? Streets of Rage Remake. It is the ULTIMATE Streets of Rage gaming experience. A remake of the entire SOR series, in one game, with branching storylines, hidden unlockable characters, remixed music and all done by fans for fans. Too Bad Sega sent them a C&D order. Sega should have made it themselves.
Which is strange since many other fan games have gone on without problem. Sonic Fan Remix and all the like. Try Sonic Megamix, a game you can literally play on the Sega CD and it's got a ton of extras. Just make sure you get the latest ver.
Actually, yeah, it is. Its a technicality, but if you have a legal, 100% purchases copy of what you are downloading your not going to get arrested. In fact, in the state i live in they have a passage that allows this. So, again, yes, it is legal.
I had this game on GG back in the day and yes I rubbed it in all my GB owning friends faces but your forgot one big differance that this one had the specials Axel had a fireballl ect
Actually no, it's still illegal to download a ROM under copyright even if you own a physical copy. The only possible legal way (other than buying a legit digital version) is to rip the ROM yourself. Even that can be illegal depending on the system. This is according to U.S. laws. It might be different in other countries.
That's not too bad. The 3ds annoys me though; I mean, when did nintendo forget the lessons of it's own history? I had a gameboy colour running 28 hours from a pair of AA's, and my GBA SP did 14 hours with the backlight on, and about 20 with it off... So at what point did they decide it was OK to make handhelds that run out of juice in a couple of hours.
Well, I'm sure you can find a torrent of it, but you have to get the right version to get the full experience. I was just pointing out that you can no longer get it from the fansite itself, son.
Well, it was within the first few minutes after the upload. You're definitely right, it's not actual proof. I should have said it's good evidence instead.
we arent talking about the wii lol. with dolphin yu get better wii picture quality because it has some really nice filters. so downloading wii games gives better quality than the console.
Well, they are free to play fan projects. I think the lesson learned here is that the original IP holders keep shoveling us rehashes of the same game we played 16 years ago instead of doing something great with them. Tho, I guess Nintendo isn't completely guilty as they did give us New Super Mario Bros.

Loved this one as a child without a home console.
That game gear gets love just like Mark can give.

For an Game Gear title that was originally for an 16 bit audience... THIS LOOKS SICK!! :)
Love that game I always liked to play as skate.
You can use rechargeable batteries with the Gamegear too.
YES ❤
The bit-era Sega consoles had awesome audio
wow... it's actually Streets of Rage 2. on a Game Gear. didn't even know this existed! AWESOME
even on the Game Gear, Yuzo Koshiro's songs are simply amazing
Streets of Rage on Sega Gamegear, enjoy responsibly!!
God damnit I love your reviews. lol. Funny and your voice is perfect.
Just played this version on the genesis. what a coincidence. :P great review
Probably my favorite Game Gear game, or even my favorite classic SEGA game.
man, this brings back great game gear memories! awesome review as always dude, keep it up. my favorite on youtube
The CGR review style is hilarious, informative, and enthusiastic about retrogaming. Awesome job guys.
This game is just awesome. Sega should have made a Game Gear pocket !
Wasn't a big fan that all the moves pretty much had no health disadvantage since they became command moves. You could pretty much Dragon Smash everything without it draining your health in the GG version, lol.
Which is the better blunt weapon? Sega Game Gear or Atari Lynx?
My childhood game
I still have my Game Gear. Damn thing fires up still after all these years except it only shows a blue screen. :(
Does the 32x fit and work in a Nomad. Add that for extra smashing power.
Watching this made me just dust off my Game Gear and start playing Sonic 2. Makes me want to expand my GG library too.
I just go this game today for the game gear. I love it.
Do you strap a camera to your head to record footage of handheld gameplay?
Yes. But is it on the Vectrex?
AWESOME!!!
I loved this game so freaking much
Can the game gear connect to the internet?
I meant Nomad, the 32X covers up the connector and I don't even know if it would fit right.
This is a pretty amazing looking port. Surprised they even tried to translate that game.
is the screen really that foggy or does it just come across like that because of the cam?
Great deal... Lately my wife has been wanting to buy. I hope she gets two! lol I think they have a really cool game library.
Fantastic game, I have this also for the Sega Master System; had to import it from the UK, the SMS has no regional lockout which us awesome. I also have Streets of Rage 1 for my SMS as well. Of course I have these for my Genesis also. :P
You honestly is appreciated and agreed!
I can play this game on my dreamcast using a master system/game gear emulator
SOR2 on the Genesis is my favorite game, so i'll have to agree that this is truly excellent, even in 8-bit.
I love this channel and the content. Keep it up!
hmm.. I wonder if You could replace the existing screens on the Game gear, The Atari Lynx & the Turbo express with screens from a Gameboy advance ?? Any tech heads out there that thinks it could be done ???
Yeah, And don't forget about the TV adapter!
You know what's even better on the PC?
Streets of Rage Remake.

Too Bad Sega sent them a C&D order. Sega should have made it themselves.
I like the stance he does when standing there, its intimidating :P
Apparently PerfectBlade20 never played Mortal Kombat on Gameboy, LOL! Even the game gear version of that was pretty damn good.
This rocks, now I want a Game Gear!
I had nomad back in the day so.... _ Got to play the actual 16-bit game while on the school bus. Good times...
Try getting GGTV (Game Gear TV). There are some modders out there that have done that successfully.
Nice colours. I would miss Max though, my favourite character with his pile driver.
Yeah tht jetpack guy always kicks my ass too.
Which is strange since many other fan games have gone on without problem. Sonic Fan Remix and all the like. Try Sonic Megamix, a game you can literally play on the Sega CD and it's got a ton of extras. Just make sure you get the latest ver.
your reviews are awesome
classic game room, start doing live streams plz!
My first ever system was the Sega Nomad. Now THAT had issues with batteries.
I hate that jet pack guy! Lol. Great review!
You should Review all the Genesis SOR games at once. If you have not already.
Actually, yeah, it is. Its a technicality, but if you have a legal, 100% purchases copy of what you are downloading your not going to get arrested. In fact, in the state i live in they have a passage that allows this. So, again, yes, it is legal.
i love my game gear emulator on my psp :) no need to spend hundreds of dollars on AA batteries
Don't forget the HDMI cables!
there actually is a Surrey in Britain
x6 I believe, last I remembered how many batteries the Game Gear used.
Of course it can. It comes with the SEGA browser, too
Gotta get me this if I can get a working Game Gear :)
Apparently you haven't seen "Surf Ninjas" I'm pretty sure a game gear can hold its own!
Game Gear was quite advanced as a portable for its time.
I wish they ported STREETS OF RAGE 2 for the 2600. I am so behind the times!
Woot loved this game... well on the genesis though.
Vintage video games feels more valuable in their physical forms.
it uses battaries not chargers im guesing you mean thoes cables that plug in the wall like a power cables
not shure what there called
No, the 32X needs an extra connector cable that doesn't work with the game gear. But that would be ridiculoussss.
How does that need explaining? Did you think they meant that Stephen King book or something?
Yeah, I know, I already have my copy.
2:35 "C'mon ya!"
Game Gear's screen it's really bad by today's standards, this video does it justice, but the system Is still playable, in fact I really like it.
Because you had the Game Gear plugged in, the power plant ran probably out of energy shortly after the end of the video.
IT is all about the Authenticity
A Nomad with the battery pack.
Awesome as ever
3DS has a rechargable battery at least.
Mark For President!
And I was just listening to SOR2 OST. Does CGR have psychic powers?
Obsessive with the Game Gear?
I had this game on GG back in the day and yes I rubbed it in all my GB owning friends faces
but your forgot one big differance that this one had the specials Axel had a fireballl ect

yep but emulators and playing on actual hardware with original controller is VERY different.
They need to bring Streets of Rage back
Had it for sega genesis
Nope Surrey is in Britain as well :-P
dont like what they did to the music but overall a great port
What else could they have done?
More than double actually. It was proven to get 7 hours and 26 minutes on duracell batteries.
...British Columbia...not in Britain or Columbia, but in Canada!
Well, I'm sure you can find a torrent of it, but you have to get the right version to get the full experience. I was just pointing out that you can no longer get it from the fansite itself, son.

I got this as a mini on ps3
This version of SoR2 looks like it sucks. I recommend playing SoR2 on the Genesis/Mega Drive or the Nomad.
Dustin Nunn its pretty decent
Pretty awesome for an 8 bit handheld
it's the perfect port....
you shuld mod you gamegear and change the lcd it looks way better and it saves battery
emulation isnt illegal if you own the system and game your emulating.
