I think most of it’s gonna be gone tomorrow. It’s supposed to stay in the mid 30s for a high temperature but come Thursday we’re supposed to get back up into the 40s and maybe even 50s. We missed the snow by a day as we left Monday 1/6. When we visit Baldwin Lake, we take Division to Northshore and take the loop backwards, we think it's prettier and less traffic. Happy it finally snowed this season!

The reason I went into the other side of Baldwin first during this video was so I had something to look forward to exiting Baldwin, knowing that I was gonna be driving along highway 18 a.k.a. the North Shore so I’m right there with you. Well, your abscessed tooth turned into an absent tooth. Sorry I’m a joker. I had my first tooth pulled about a year and a half ago and it was terrifying so I’m not trying to make light of it. I hope you’re OK. I was terrified to get it done. It just felt like a lot of pressure and I didn’t feel any pain. It just felt like someone was trying to rip my jaw off. But I also feel like the dentist I went to they didn’t need to do that. I didn’t have any pain in that tooth. I didn’t have any cavities, but they said there’s something wrong with it deep inside or something and they said it would be much better to remove it. This was a TH-cam Fan of mine of course I trust him. His family owns one of the biggest most modern cosmetic dentistry offices in Orange County in Irvine and again I really trust them. I’m sure there was a reason to but next time if I’m not feeling any pain in that area, I’m not gonna have them remove any teeth. I just hope you’re gonna be OK. @@bigbearweatherandmore6621 I'm sorry you went through that. I finally got the bleeding under control about 7pm tonight. I used gauze every 30 mins would change it. Then I switched to moist black tea bags and after 2 of the tea bags swapped at 30 mins intervals the bleeding is minimal now. It is hurting quite a bit now. They gave me 800 mg advil and they are too big for me to swallow them.. Sigh... Ate some smashed potatoes for dinner. They also gave me antibiotics and an antiseptic mouth rinse to use. I will start those in the morning. My main concern into todays appointment was my blood pressure. I have ptsd from all the cancer treatments I don't like Drs. LOL. They took a reading and it wasn't as high as I thought it would be, so we went ahead and pulled the tooth. Novocain spikes BP. So hoping I get some sleep. Love the snow in BB so happy that it snowed more than expected.🦷❄❄🏂⛷⛷

But I would expect that you guys would have a little bit better preparation because it’s not like it happens only once every 10 years or 15 years.

Fortunately, I haven’t heard of anything near us and I’m thinking this snowfall is going to protect us a little bit, but it’s all gonna be melted by this weekend, but those major winds will be done by that point so I’m hopeful we stay out of it those major fires that almost took our town a few months ago was enough for me Now I’m praying for everybody in Los Angeles and my uncle he’s 90 years old. He played a big role in the United States space program at JPL he got evacuated and he lives at the highest altitude home in Altadena. It’s a very humble spot. He’s been there for about 65 years. There was nothing in that area, but he lives at the highest elevation in Altadena. His house is the highest point. It’s pretty cool.

Hey Carol. I just want you to know if you ever have any concerns while you guys are not up here and you needed me to drive by your place and just send you a little short video of the outside of your place or whatever you need me to look at for you guys I’m happy to do that. You just gotta let me know and then we can exchange phone numbers through my email and then I can just email you the little video clip of whatever your concern was so you can see with your own eyes what’s going on? I just want you to know that that’s available for you if you guys ever are really concerned about something. And this all showed up about three days ago on the forecast, but it only showed up for about 15 minutes. I had to go through the hourly forecast looking at hour by hour because it didn’t show any snow, but it did show at 7 AM today. it was supposed to snow for about 15 minutes and I didn’t think it was really gonna happen. It was supposed to be windy today but that’s it and then when yesterday morning came I looked at the forecast and it actually said something about snow and we could get up to an inch of snow possible and it went from showing one hour of snow to about 3 1/2 or four hours of snow from about 5 AM until 9 AM. Once last night got here the forecast even ramped up at about 6 PM or 7 PM yesterday. It said we could see 1 inch up to 3 inches possibly. And I was getting really excited and then it even went one better it said overnight we could see a couple of snowflakes just after midnight but the heavier stuff will start around four or five in the morning. And it actually started at my house at about 340 this morning and it took me about 10 or 12 minutes to get dressed. Use the restroom and get my butt outside. But this storm took a lot of people by surprise because it literally came out of nowhere

My uncle Ted, who was a big part of the Voyager stuff with NASA and JPL and built the heat shield for Galileo and was a big part of the Juno missions. I’m sure I spelled that wrong but he has A house at the very top of Altadena it’s a very humble place but he’s been there about 55 years and there were no other houses in that neighborhood And he literally lives at the very top of Altadena, which is next to Pasadena and he got evacuated and he’s 90 years old. It's a very unusual (but not unheard of) set up with the moisture coming from an upper level low pressure up from the Sea of Cortez with the low retrograding from east to west. Means there is no rain shadow effect on the East side of the lake like there usually is with a storm coming off the Pacific and thus the higher than expected totals.

It still wasn’t that much snow but that’s all we’re getting. I’m happy we got this much. It did transform the town for a short period of time to a winter wonderland and now there’s nothing else in the forecast.

I would love when it would clear out so I could see all the snow all over the mountain ranges I was always able to see Mount Baldy and the San Gabriel‘s but because saddleback Mountain was in the middle of my area I could never see the San Bernardino mountain range, but I always got to see the San Gabriel’s and I miss that view.

It was only supposed to be a windy day and then it showed we might have a snow shower for about 15 minutes today at about seven in the morning and then yesterday it got more and more and then I can’t believe it happened, but we got more snow than they predicted

This is gonna be gone by this weekend today we’re not supposed to get much higher than 35° but the next couple days were supposed to get almost to 50°. It’s a bummer to see it go, but it is what it is and there’s nothing in the forecast anytime soon. I feel terrible for all the skiers and snowboarders who look forward all summer to being able to go skiing and snowboarding to deal with this. It’s so sad.

Hey Sep. That’s a really damn good question. I mean that is a damn good question and I should know the answer to this, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say most of it is probably from evaporation. I heard the ground is extremely hard and not too porous over there. And apparently many many moons ago that whole part of the valley was always underwater that lake area. I never saw it because I haven’t been around for many many moons but I think two years ago was the longest I’ve ever seen it last. It stayed through most of the summertime which was amazing after we received 5 feet of snow in January and February. Anyway, my friend thanks again for the question. I hope if I ever run into you, you don’t punch me in the face for not knowing 100% precisely what is going on over there but that’s a great question and I’m gonna text Ben Brissey our town meteorologist right now to ask him so give me a minute and then I’ll get right back to you

He is Big Bear’s meteorologist and has been for maybe 30 or more years, but I’m gonna copy and paste exactly what he put and I told him if he could be more specific if he knows exactly the percentage of which way the lake loses its water, but this is what he told me. Looks great out there, finally feels like winter! Yes, you are correct. most of it soaks into the ground and evaporates. A combination of the 2.

We missed the snow by a day as we left Monday 1/6. When we visit Baldwin Lake, we take Division to Northshore and take the loop backwards, we think it's prettier and less traffic. Happy it finally snowed this season!

Well, your abscessed tooth turned into an absent tooth. Sorry I’m a joker. I had my first tooth pulled about a year and a half ago and it was terrifying so I’m not trying to make light of it. I hope you’re OK. I was terrified to get it done. It just felt like a lot of pressure and I didn’t feel any pain. It just felt like someone was trying to rip my jaw off. But I also feel like the dentist I went to they didn’t need to do that. I didn’t have any pain in that tooth. I didn’t have any cavities, but they said there’s something wrong with it deep inside or something and they said it would be much better to remove it. This was a TH-cam Fan of mine of course I trust him. His family owns one of the biggest most modern cosmetic dentistry offices in Orange County in Irvine and again I really trust them. I’m sure there was a reason to but next time if I’m not feeling any pain in that area, I’m not gonna have them remove any teeth.

@@bigbearweatherandmore6621 I'm sorry you went through that. I finally got the bleeding under control about 7pm tonight. I used gauze every 30 mins would change it. Then I switched to moist black tea bags and after 2 of the tea bags swapped at 30 mins intervals the bleeding is minimal now. It is hurting quite a bit now. They gave me 800 mg advil and they are too big for me to swallow them.. Sigh... Ate some smashed potatoes for dinner. They also gave me antibiotics and an antiseptic mouth rinse to use. I will start those in the morning. My main concern into todays appointment was my blood pressure. I have ptsd from all the cancer treatments I don't like Drs. LOL. They took a reading and it wasn't as high as I thought it would be, so we went ahead and pulled the tooth. Novocain spikes BP. So hoping I get some sleep. Love the snow in BB so happy that it snowed more than expected.🦷❄❄🏂⛷⛷

He played a big role in the United States space program at JPL he got evacuated and he lives at the highest altitude home in Altadena. It’s a very humble spot. He’s been there for about 65 years. There was nothing in that area, but he lives at the highest elevation in Altadena. His house is the highest point. It’s pretty cool.

I just want you to know if you ever have any concerns while you guys are not up here and you needed me to drive by your place and just send you a little short video of the outside of your place or whatever you need me to look at for you guys I’m happy to do that. You just gotta let me know and then we can exchange phone numbers through my email and then I can just email you the little video clip of whatever your concern was so you can see with your own eyes what’s going on? I just want you to know that that’s available for you if you guys ever are really concerned about something.
And this all showed up about three days ago on the forecast, but it only showed up for about 15 minutes. I had to go through the hourly forecast looking at hour by hour because it didn’t show any snow, but it did show at 7 AM today. it was supposed to snow for about 15 minutes and I didn’t think it was really gonna happen. It was supposed to be windy today but that’s it and then when yesterday morning came I looked at the forecast and it actually said something about snow and we could get up to an inch of snow possible and it went from showing one hour of snow to about 3 1/2 or four hours of snow from about 5 AM until 9 AM. Once last night got here the forecast even ramped up at about 6 PM or 7 PM yesterday. It said we could see 1 inch up to 3 inches possibly. And I was getting really excited and then it even went one better it said overnight we could see a couple of snowflakes just after midnight but the heavier stuff will start around four or five in the morning. And it actually started at my house at about 340 this morning and it took me about 10 or 12 minutes to get dressed. Use the restroom and get my butt outside.
But this storm took a lot of people by surprise because it literally came out of nowhere

My uncle Ted, who was a big part of the Voyager stuff with NASA and JPL and built the heat shield for Galileo and was a big part of the Juno missions. I’m sure I spelled that wrong but he has A house at the very top of Altadena it’s a very humble place but he’s been there about 55 years and there were no other houses in that neighborhood And he literally lives at the very top of Altadena, which is next to Pasadena and he got evacuated and he’s 90 years old. It’s really sad. I just spoke with him tonight.

It's a very unusual (but not unheard of) set up with the moisture coming from an upper level low pressure up from the Sea of Cortez with the low retrograding from east to west. Means there is no rain shadow effect on the East side of the lake like there usually is with a storm coming off the Pacific and thus the higher than expected totals.

@@eliahyo6551 yeah I’m really concerned about The Hills down there seeing the big fire pop-up today is gnarly so I feel bad to be happy about our situation up here when people are running for their lives down there. I really thought that you guys would’ve received some rain, but it seemed like nowhere really got anything except the storm built up here in the mountains and came a little bit from the east, which is pretty rare. @@bigbearweatherandmore6621 there’s been some very very high ridging in the jet stream bringing insane precipitation anomalies. Such as up north of San Francisco seeing record rainfall while SoCal seeing nothing. Crazy stuff

I really hate to see it happen under any circumstance, but if this has anything to do with arson, I think the penalties need to be much worse than what they already are, but it’s really heartbreaking to see this happen. And I feel sad that I’m even excited about anything happening up here today when people down there are running for their lives.

What’s up Fillup. I’m a poet and didn’t know it lol thanks for the comment bro. As most of you know I’m from Newport Beach. I’m from Orange County and every time there would be snow storms up here. I would love when it would clear out so I could see all the snow all over the mountain ranges I was always able to see Mount Baldy and the San Gabriel‘s but because saddleback Mountain was in the middle of my area I could never see the San Bernardino mountain range, but I always got to see the San Gabriel’s and I miss that view.

@@lnnation3541 hey there Innation. So I’m gonna be honest in three days. I think this is all gonna be gone. The ski resorts may find a way to keep it a little longer because they’ll put some more artificial snow on top of the mother nature Snow.
But if I’m being totally honest with you, I think everything that you see right now is gonna be gone in three days
You might be able to find a couple little patches of snow and some very shady parts of town, but that’s gonna be it

I think the only way we could ever have more snow than mammoth is when no part of the storm hits Mammoth and we only get something and I think that’s what happened. @ yeah it was crazy, like you said in the video, no one even up in mammoth was expecting anything it was kind of a surprise. But it would appear bear got hit harder from my experience being up there. I hope Bear gets dumped on soon because I will 100 percent be there when it’s does

It was only supposed to be a windy day and then it showed we might have a snow shower for about 15 minutes today at about seven in the morning and then yesterday it got more and more and then I can’t believe it happened, but we got more snow than they predicted

So I think they got between three and 5 inches of snow and that whole area and some of it already melted today but tomorrow it’s not gonna melt too much but it still is going to. We’re supposed to be in the mid 30s tomorrow, but then Thursday and Friday it’s supposed to really warm up and I think all of this new snow will be gone by this weekend but in some parts of Fawnskin Because a lot of those mountains don’t get a lot of direct sunlight, they might maintain some of the snow for a little while longer but today everything looks beautiful over there I hope I answered your question properly

Hey there, Indian Well you are 100% correct I’ve been thinking about that this whole time. This is gonna be gone by this weekend today we’re not supposed to get much higher than 35° but the next couple days were supposed to get almost to 50°. It’s a bummer to see it go, but it is what it is and there’s nothing in the forecast anytime soon.
I feel terrible for all the skiers and snowboarders who look forward all summer to being able to go skiing and snowboarding to deal with this. It’s so sad.

Hey Sep. That’s a really damn good question. I mean that is a damn good question and I should know the answer to this, but I’m gonna go out on a limb and say most of it is probably from evaporation. I heard the ground is extremely hard and not too porous over there. And apparently many many moons ago that whole part of the valley was always underwater that lake area. I never saw it because I haven’t been around for many many moons but I think two years ago was the longest I’ve ever seen it last. It stayed through most of the summertime which was amazing after we received 5 feet of snow in January and February.
Anyway, my friend thanks again for the question. I hope if I ever run into you, you don’t punch me in the face for not knowing 100% precisely what is going on over there but that’s a great question and I’m gonna text Ben Brissey our town meteorologist right now to ask him so give me a minute and then I’ll get right back to you
@@SEPU03 so I’m gonna copy and paste the response I got from Ben Brissey. He is the man behind bensweather.com. He is Big Bear’s meteorologist and has been for maybe 30 or more years, but I’m gonna copy and paste exactly what he put and I told him if he could be more specific if he knows exactly the percentage of which way the lake loses its water, but this is what he told me.

Yes, you are correct. most of it soaks into the ground and evaporates. A combination of the 2.
It's those things, but also because BBWD (the water district) pipes it and caps off all the natural streams and springs in Bear City. There is also a higher salt content in Baldwin Lake, which contributes even more to evaporation

@@sunnyliu1874 well today is January 10 and no absolutely nothing. With my channel every time we get snow I will always put out a video. I will always be out driving around and recording it so if you don’t see a video then 100% it’s not snowing even if it snows for literally 60 seconds I will still put out a video.

Since the end of the month is still too far away for any predictions, I wouldn’t be able to tell you honestly, but just in case plan on spending an extra hundred or $150 to have the proper tire chain it’s worth the investment because when you need the tire chains, sometimes it can be difficult to get them because most places will be sold out
