    I had a problem with importing MIDI into Reaper not producing a sound. Now I know how to fix them. Thanks to Kenny!

    Good teacher. If people follow step by step what you teach, students will understand easily and very quickly. Excellent tutorial and very simple. I definitely recommend this TH-cam channel. Greetings Pippo Agostino

    I've just moved to Reaper from Cubase, I had some issues (same as in Cubase) with importing MIDI tracks from Guitar Pro. Tracks appeared to be 1 octave lower and most of them didn't play at all using most VSTi. Then I found that second problem is because of the channel chosen in Guitar Pro, and I had to change them manually before exporting.
    Channels changing and notes transporting are way faster and better this way, through properties, thanks a lot for the lesson!

    Many thanks Kenny for bringing up this pretty powerful Note Properties feature.
    I think many people aren't / weren't aware of this, let alone are using it.
    Cheers !

      It is kind of buried and does things you can't do anywhere else.

    I only discovered this a couple of days ago and now I've stumbled on this video. the universe is telling me to use this feature. I've already found that it's especially useful for change the MIDI channel of certain notes, if they've ended up in the wrong channel for instance.

    Wonderful video. I was always able to do many of these techniques with the old Cakewalk Pro very easily & always wondered how many of these moves could be done with Reaper. NOW I KNOW! Very powerful & logical & easy once you see it performed. I use EZKeys a lot and find their velocities extremely hot & I always have to lower & tweak them. This is the method I'll be using from now on. As always - perfectly explained and right on time. Keep up the great work! Appreciate your professionalism & willingness to share your experience!

    It seems like the "note properties" option in the piano roll window has disappeared in the new version v6.13 - July 23 2020. Now it shows "event properties" instead, which is not the same thing. Am I doing anything wrong?

  • @RedSheap
    @RedSheap 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How come all I have is “event properties” and it doesn’t even do anything. So mad!

    • @mangotango5988
      @mangotango5988 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I'm using Reaper 6.19 on Windows 10 64 bit I only get "event properties" when I right click on a midi note.

    Is it possible to edit pitch of individual notes, or is it possible for track only?

  • @apkeeney
    @apkeeney 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm having an issue where if a track is record-armed, and I am in the MIDI editor, if I play the keyboard, the notes will record on to the piano roll even though I am not recording. Sometimes I need to play something just to figure it out, and I don't want it to record on to the piano roll. Is there a way to turn this off?

    Hi, how are you buddy ? I have a very interesting question. How do you change the pitch and pan of individual notes without changing the ones that are happening at the same time? Is there any way to do this?

    Ho kenny. There is a way to edit pan on piano roll, when we are using reasamplomatic5000? The only way i see is to do automations if i want a fx. Like left and rigth hi hat moving. If i can do it on piano roll it will be very usefull

    Hi! I'm using samples from a drum pack for my drums through Reasamplomatic5000. I tried changing the velocity, and was able to do so, but I can't hear any difference between 1 and 127 when the note is actually played. Any thoughts on this?

  • @seanosuilleabhainemerald
    @seanosuilleabhainemerald 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    What about the other properties of a note? for example, if I use the pedal when hitting a note or add some articulation: where is that stored and how can that be edited? In my current version of reaper (V6.28) I do not see note properties but I do see event properties that appear to have the same properties.

  • @43LightYears
    @43LightYears 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    when you clicked the first note (the kick) it only highlighted that one note i.e. it didnt automatically highlight the rest of the kick notes. How did you get it to do that? I want to leave some crashes in, and take others out. But Reaper duplicates them all automatically and i can't edit each note individually. Thank you

  • @clothes4060

    Can I change the panning left right of each midi key?

  • @axisroll5612

    I join the above question:

    Is such a simple function not implemented in the Reaper?

    When recording midi in reaper my midi notes are recording ahead of time for some reason...I’m playing in time but reaper seems to be offsetting the part to an earlier position...like it’s correcting for latency that doesn’t exist. Any ideas? Love your videos 🤘

    • @zendakk
      @zendakk 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like input quantize may be on: th-cam.com/video/up7h7Dv2v1s/w-d-xo.html If not, some heavy latency between your controller and the DAW, for some reason.

    Excellent video. But what does it mean when I open up the midi properties dialogue and it says it is 'mixed'? This is driving me crazy, I can't change the properties.

      "Mixed" means it's different things. What are you trying to change?

      @@REAPERMania usually position or length.

      @@REAPERMania also, by different things what do you mean? Is it midi and audio? That seems unlikely.

    • @iainlaskey7285
      @iainlaskey7285 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sean Banks you can set different devices to only respond to midi data on specific channels. Eg channel 10 is normally drum machines. When you have multiple synths, you set each one to a different channel so it only plays notes intended for it. There’s 16 channels available.
