Flying Crank Ghost Tutorial

SUPPLIES:
-A Styrofoam skull or a Styrofoam wig head
-Wire coat hangers
-Cheese cloth
-Rite white wash laundry treatment
-Florescent black light (NOT A LIGHT BULB BLACK LIGHT)
-Two 2x4's longer than 60"
-Flat black spray paint
-50 lb. fishing line
-Windshield wiper motor or fright props prop motor
-Flat aluminium stock, 1/8" thick by 1" wide by 15" long
-Three eye bolts
-One 1/2' by 1, 1/2" long bolt
-Three 1/2" nuts
-One washer with a 1, 1/2" outside diameter and a 1/2" inside diameter
-One washer with a 2" outside diameter and a 1/2" inside diameter.

My buddy and I made one of these over 20 years ago for our charity spook house which we ran until two years ago. This has been my favorite prop and gets tons of gasps from little guests. I put it up on my porch this year and it looks great. Timeless
The only difference is my ghost is a half skeleton draped with cheese cloth with flashing eyes. It’s heavy as so it requires a counter weight.
I love this, I may just end up trying it out!
You got a lot of detail in there for such a short video. Wish I would have seen this before I built mine. And the idea of using the allen wrench in the drill for eye hooks..... I am so using that.

Great Tutorial ! Since the cost of motors is 'High,' I settled for a 12V 1A 5 rpm motor from Banggood. Assembled the crank assembly per your directions and it's just what I wanted. Just for laughs - I tried making a crank assembly last year. After several tries with different motors, I thought I had the combination worked out. It was a failure, my husband said it looked like a ghost on speed as it destroyed itself in seconds.

Use the Red wire (hot wire) and the green OR the blue (those are fast and slow wires). You obviously used the fast color to switch it. Doesn't matter which hole, cause if you put the red in the opposite hole, it's just going to run opposite direction.
Fantastic. One of the better ones out there! One question if I may, how do you adjust the speed?
+Triangle Haunter thank you man! it means alot! and the speed depends on your motor and power adapter, the motor i have from fright props came with 3 wires, one was for power, one was for slow speed, one was for fast, you hook up the power wire and either fast or slow wire to your power source, the lower your power source voltage is the slower it will go as well, example a 12v power adapter will run your motor faster than a 9v will. for this prop i used a 9v power adapter with the slow speed wire hooked up. i believe you can get even lower voltage power adapters but im not sure. i hope that helped, thanks for watching and subing!

Do you have any issues with the eye hooks shredding your fishing line? We do every time. We tried cable wire and they just cut through the eye hooks.

hi is there any reason that the T frame cant be hung with the motor facing up?
+kelligula yes it needs to be facing down so the fishing line is down. If they were on top of the T frame it would cause to much drag and the moter would have to work twice as hard so you get jam ups and the line would probably brake during the night

leading edge of the frame than? So they werent on top?reason Im asking
is because the motor I have only accepts a square shaft that slides in
(with no way of securing it in place)...Im worried that if I were to
install it they way you show in the vid (which is a fantastic how to
btw!!) as it's working I fear that it would fall out...thoughts?thanks
i would suggest giving it a test run, hook it up how your thinking and watch it and listen for snags, let it run for like an hour and then turn it off and kinda feel the line were its been rubbing against the eye bolts and see if it feels really warn and tug it a little to see if it is more stretchy than normal. if so the line might snap and you might have to figure out another way, thanks for the kind words

I don't know the exact measurement but they are just your basic cheap wire coat hangers you'd find at dollar tree. And honestly if they were smaller or bigger it wouldn't mess it up it'll work fine still
did I miss what powers the wiper motor?
if you're using a wiper moter you can use a 9v or a 12v power cable. The 12v will go a little faster
unless you already have a moter I would buy the one from fright props like I did its going to last a long time
Your circular saw will cut the aluminum no problem
