So for Cape Town they need to fix the existing rail system , get the new Trains on the tracks , make it safe and expand it including to places like Airport and also connect other lines like Chris Hani Station maybe needs to be connected to Eersterivier Station.

@@FreddyDreams Not really, Gautrain was built from scratch, on it's own new dedicated tracks, tunnels, stations, parkings and buses. So it's not reliant on Metrorail at all. It costs more but modern and convenient.

Jozi north of CBD didn't have rail infrastructure so Gautrein is to give it infrastructure.
It's also part of the overall rail in Gauteng along with Metrorail that's why Park Station & Pretoria Station are interchange stations with Metrorail.
It needs to expand and similar projects in other cities are also needed.

very smart, clean and modern... not dissimilar to the UK setup (although probably a lot newer). In the UK you can get to just about every city, town or village by train.... they are convenient but are cheap... they do have problems, especially with the unions constantly going on strike... I take it this trip was done out of peak time as the carriages were empty... how affordable is this for the average person.. how much would that same journey cost by 'mini bus taxi'?
