I'm from Madagascar but so proud of SA as an African.
Merci mon amie. 🏆🇿🇦👌✔️
Thank brother
I thought Madagascar only exists in movies 😂 you the first person on the Internet who says they from there
Big up to south Africa,we are not perfect but we are better
🇿🇦🏆👌✔️
No your not.
The real giant of Africa 🌍
Amen!🇿🇦✔️👌🏆
We want to see more these types of projects and initiatives! Thank you Dave for changing the narrative for South Africa. It makes me so proud to be South African.
🇿🇦🏆👌✔️
Gibela must also look into selling trains to the entire SADC nations. Beautiful trains
Plus making train lines to stupid Nigerians so they can come here by train. Space X transparent production process inspired you I see. Thanks for your effort and the affluent Timothy.
I am sure they started with that goal in mind
To rest if continental. Nigeria and Kenya also need trains without needing the Chinese. SA should sell to them and do a skills exchange
We need these trains in DRC. Made in Africa for Africans. These will solve a lot of transportation problems.
It's a must, we really need these type of trains to solve transportations problem in DRC.@@sweluhu29
As South African I'm ashamed to say I only heard now that SA can manufacture their own trains. What's it that Africans cannot do ? Alluta contiua.
Is been years and years, my neighbor is an engineer at Gibela ,I was also surprised when she tell me 5 years back that they are manufacturing trains.
Been doing it for 60+ years.
There was tus no need to buy trains, unfit for our rails at high costs.
Still need outside help?
These are the results of 9 years wasted by President Zuma. You should not be surprised. All the good things done by Zuma were suppresed deliberately as to make him to look bad.
Now this sets the dreams and aspirations in motion of that South African kid wanting to study sciences more especially Engineering Sciences.
Proud we are alive with possibilities and great inspiring footage 😊
Thanks Dave for the insightful content. SABC is busy with its anti government content to an extent that one may begin to think that there are no positive stories in SA. They are delberately painting a negative picture about our country to discourage investment and then blame the government for high unemployment. They are sick and narcissistic.
This is not NEW. South Africa has been manufacturing its own trains since apartheid. This is not new. Please don't be lied to. The name gibela is maybe new as they are obsessed with changing names.
If this was the thieving, clueless, useless anc's invention, they woul be singing about it as they do with the unsustainable immoral child grant and the so called srd nonsense.
😂No one is doing that
I live about 15 mins from Gibela and it’s been operating for a number of years. I’ve also been to the factory a number of times and it’s amazing how many young, talented South African ladies and gents (artisans, electricians, engineers, etc) from surrounding areas are employed here.
I personally think this is one thing our government has done right - which I really wish would be duplicated across the country. We just need political will to make things happen in this country, that is all.
It's not the anc government, it's been like this long before this demomcrazy. South Africa has been building its own trains ever since.
@@florencediallo8340 what’s your point? My comment was based on this specific project which was commissioned by PRASA (which is a government entity), to have 600 trains built and maintained over a certain period by Gibela. I’m not a fan of the ANC, but let’s give credit where it’s due - a lot of unemployed graduates received the necessary training and were absorbed into the employment market. This company was formed in 2013, by the way and whether you and I like it or not, it was during the current government’s time, which happens to be the ANC…
That aside, a lot of factories and manufacturing plants are closing down on a regular basis - due to lack of support from the government, that’s what I meant by having political will to assist and get things done, most businesses can be rescued and need not go under, but there’s just no assistance from the current government.
@@florencediallo8340 those old red and white trains were produced and manufactured in South Africa by our companies in the 50s and 60s. Later in the 90s they build yellow, grey and blue trains for Metro Rail. Railway industry is the biggest in the continent. The problem is that this sector was neglected because of lack of investments in Metro rail by government since 80s,even after Anc came into power.
@@florencediallo8340got nothing to do with anything

Proudly South African, Those People are doing a great job, big up guys🇿🇦🙏🏽

I say thank you again we tiered of all negative things talking about our country we can't run away for our problems who is going to fix them.👍👍🙏
South Africa has a long history of manufacturing trains since 1860, currently we have the longest railway network in the continent, I think we're 5th in the world.
Exactly, those who don't know think it's this useless, destructive, thieving anc that started the manufacturing.
Thanks to the white people
We had the best in Africa. Whether we still do today is today is debatable . Rail infrastructure all over South Africa have either been vandalized or stolen. It is difficult to even find trains operating these days.
Nope, not 5th in the world, we are far behind that. The only record we had was a 3rd longest train which was a coal carriage back around the 90s. But our rail infrasture in way poor compared to global class
It's vandalised. The infrastructure is stripped.. This train will be vandalised in its first month. They will block the doors from closing.. Until they malfunction.. Because they want to ride with the train open.. 🤞🤞🤞
Best SA youtuber right now, always updating us on whats taking place 👍 we love your efforts
I appreciate that!😊👌🇿🇦🏆
I am very happy that we can make our own here on the continent.
We have been making them long since apartheid. This is not new, maybe improved but NOT new.
No matter how many times you see this train, it’s just beautiful, and it doesn’t make a lot of noise when it passes by, I love it .

It is time for Africa to have the confidence to do all its own technology. May all African countries support each other in this. Proudly South African and African at large.

Guys we need to give Lucky Montana his flowers that guys worked his pants of, from transforming Metrorail to formulate Prasa was not a walk in a park. Getting us a best deal to import modernised trains with a deal to build them at home and actually create an industry with more expertise he really deserve an applud.
But i know that there are other people with a different agenda because Zondo commission tried hard to implicate him in corruption that was not even there. Thats why i hate politics with all my heart they will delay a nation's progress by just creating a false narrative.
😂😂😂😂😂so sad that you swallowed the worm, line and sinker. The apartheid government was manufacturing trains long before in the 1800s. It's not new. What is new is the name. Your Montana guy was just a proxy for the anc to make it look like he was the mastermind. Yes he was knowledgeable but corruption did take place under him. Don't deny or rubbish that part. You may hate politics all you like, the truth can never be swept away. The Zondo commission did not lie. Why did Montana not sue the Zondo commission if it was all fabrication? Justice will prevail in the Zondo commission findings.
What about the heaps of stolen rails exported as scrap to China??
That guy was very corrupt. He once appointed a technikon dropout called Mthimkhulu as Chief Engeneer.
@@tshelanenkadimeng3189 Even DA is corrupt but are running WC well. Corruption is not always a sign of incompetence, In SA we are only exposed to incompetence accompanied with corruption thats basically what the whole continent is in a nutshell. All western countries have corrupt statesmen who are competent in what they do.
All i am saying is his work speaks for him he started this project and put a timeline on it and made sure we produce it ourselves, lets judge him on his work and not a gossip report.
Thank you President Zuma for the 9 years of waste. In your wasted years you were able to bring us a Company to build our Trains right here in our country.

That train manufacturing plant has been beautifully revamped. It is pleasing to see that at least this one has not been abandoned to ruins like many facilities that were perfectly working which the ANC inherited from the Afrikaner government.
ABSOLUTELY 💯. Some people think it's the useless anc that initiated this project. 😂😂😂😂😂
If it was them, they would be singing about it like they are doing with the unsustainable child grant and the equally unsustainable srd creating dependency syndromes every step of the way.
Actually, this plant was built from scratch back in 2015, complete in 2017, I think.
As much as we all hate the ANC, let’s give credit where it’s due. This was initiated in 2013 by the current government and has nothing to do with the apartheid government.

Those old ones could have lasted for more than a century, but the people vandalized it. They were modern in 1958.
Now let's wait for Taxi owners and drivers... to burn the company because they ain't building taxis 😮😮😮😮
Yes, we may have this company, which was founded in 2013, but read the following, in 2015 "Prasa has been under the spotlight after it was reported that the Afro 4000 trains, purchased from Spanish manufacturer Vossloh Espana on a contract worth R3.5 billion, were too high for South African rail lines. The contract is for 70 locomotives, 13 of which have already been delivered to SA, at a cost of over R600 million. Having dismissed concerns about the specifications, Prasa reported in mid-August that an 11-carriage train lead by one of the new locomotives had derailed, injuring several passengers.
Don't dare say truth or any negativity. These people are brain washed. It's why they can be ruled so eadily through all of history. They're easily brainwashed 🙄

I still don't understand why African countries are bringing in Chines companies to build roads, airports and even trains for them!
Yes, the factory is in South Africa, but it's as European as they come. Look-up Alstom - it's a French corporation.

another great work that was initiated and completed during the "9 wasted years "of President Zuma/ Ubaba wesizwe esimnyama.

Your problem it is that information started reaching KZN during Zuma times and you don't read. These plans started under Mbekis term. Go and read parliament minutes. During Zuma tenure they should have completed the project. This project is behind schedule. You don't know what the future plans of this company is. It is very far behind because of the corruption of the ANC. By now it was supposed to be supplying nearby countries and expanding. It is also aimed to play a pivotal part in the Africa Grand Train Project. But yah typical tribalist will want to praise Zuma.

They need to implement some further features ok the train, like screen monitors showing the different stations the train will be commuting to, as well as announcements for doors opening and closing and which door side as they do in other countries, as to the stations, our stations need an overhaul as well as be raised to train door level for easy access especially for the disabled
Watch his other video showing his commute from Jozi to Naledi - all those features are there.
The only thing I have not seen, is the wheelchair access. I might be wrong though…
