A better solution than this is to put (x = y) in fxnal eqn and get f(2x) = 2f(x) - x^2. then finding f(2) and f(1) from given f(x) value in terms of c. solving for c by putting in f(2) = 2f(1) - 1^2 eqn. But this solution too is still worth remembering.
