This is one of the best videos about UTMB, providing much fun for a hobby jogger like me.
Awesome video Sage! This kind of content does multiple things: it shows this top race's course in a setting where everyone could imagine enjoying one bit at a time, it gives us a sense of what monster fitness you and the other participants have gotten to, but my favourite has to be that it shows that there are super cool ways to enjoy the mountain, and it's just about getting out there, while setting realistic goals each one for themselves :)

I've definitely done some races in small towns in the Midwest and had to have a giant plate of French fries as a post race meal because it's the only vegan option around. But really, fries as a post race meal is pretty good.

Thank you Sage for these videos of a "soft" UTMB as my wife and I have talked about doing this as well (hopefully next year). We won't ever do UTMB but thought doing the course in 3-4 days would be a perfect way to experience all of the trails. I will bookmark this series for sure. Thanks for taking us on the journey.

Doing a "Soft" UTMB seem to be more interesting and enjoyable compared to UTMB on race day.
Agreed! I could do without the crowds, fees, mandatory gear lists, etc. Have to put a soft UTMB on the old bucket list.
As someone who was dead set on trying to get a place at UTMB on year, I did exactly this - the whole course over 4 days with my girlfriend - and it was such an enjoyable way to run the route. Basically lost all interest in doing the race after that! Way too many holes to jump through now to even get a spot in the ballot which doesn't help.
Yes totally, i did it in 2019 znd it opened my eyes. The freedom to pick path zbove the utmb double tracks is a lot more fun. The daylight...
I did not know about those recovery sandals I just bought the pink slides by Hoka. 🤫

Must be very nice and also a bit awkward to go through Saint Gervais and Les Contamines with so few people compared to the crazyness of the UTMB atmosphere! Eager to watch next 2 episodes to view all the UTMB spots by daylight! Nice weighted training too, enjoy your stay in Chamonix Sage.

wait until you see days 3 and 4....most of the UTMB course overlaps those courses there! (OCC starts a bit over from Champex Lac and CCC does another trail a bit out of Courymayeur)..but otherwise a lot of the track is the same!

Hi, could I just ask you about the tecton x ? I am getting one delivered, this is my first carbon plated shoe. Is it straight forward or do you need a specific running technic ?

In a previous video he mentioned he was wearing the Camelbak octane (can’t remember if it was 18L or 25L). FYI, the bigger volume bags are listed under hiking and not trail running on the Camelbak website.
