I love how this seamlessly transitions between psychedelic trip-out to an actual coherent story with (occasionally) stunning visuals, to a strange students film live action thing, -in the blink of an eye. This is fantastic. This is what true modern art looks like, and I'll be damn disappointed if I don't find this in some museum one day.

Ikr, it’s better than TH-cam rewind, in fact better than every single rewind at representing great TH-camrs because it combines a bunch of TH-camrs and all their talents in one video that’s an hour and a half, instead of the ten minutes of TH-camrs that have a script and are only represented for a couple of seconds in TH-cam rewind. In Shrek Retold they’re free to do basically anything as long as it stays with the plot of Shrek, the makers of these can say what they want, animate the scenes in their own style/act out the scenes in any way, etc.
Shrek Retold is a modern masterpiece. A pure amalgamation of internet culture processed into the most appropriate possible piece of media - Shrek. Not only is it an amazing recreation of a internet classic, but it shows the mind of hundreds of different people, all placed inside such a silly yet well made movie. Each clip, voice, piece of music, and creation within this video represents a person and their ideals, culture, thoughts, interests, style, and more, through the idea of Shrek. What more could you ever possibly want?

I feel like this is a culmination of 30 years of internet culture, it's all coming to a head. You have people from 4chan, independent animators, kids having fun in the backyard. The fact that you got 200 people to participate and add something to this shows the power of a shared experience online. Like an onion, the humor in this is covered in so many layers of sarcasm it's hard to find the epicenter of it. True beauty.

This project is way more than it seems. Some will say this is just a meme gone too far, however I beg to differ. Yes, this creation was born in this world partially because of the meme culture, which can have a powerful influence on the modern world, but this movie is firstly a demonstration of solidarity. Internet has gotten a reputation of people being trolls, spiteful, idiotic and even dangerous. But this, this shows the beautiful values human can have such as friendship, love and kindness. This project was made with one simple goal ; having fun. Shrek Retold unites people instead of dividing them. We may have our differences, but we all love Shrek. I can see all the heart, sincerity and honesty that went into this project. It is a true example of teamwork made without any commercial nor publicity goal. This art project, because this IS art, gave all the artists the possibility to explore themselves, their art style and to give the world a piece of what passionate them. May this project crafted by enthusiastic people all around the world be a part of Internet history, and change for good the negative image it has accumulated over the years. I hope all of you had fun making/watching this, because I sure had.

I enjoy Shrek Retold a lot more because it embodies a part of the internet that appeals to me. This project is way more than it seems.
Some will say this is just a meme gone too far, however I beg to differ. Yes, this creation was born in this world partially because of the meme culture, which can have a powerful influence on the modern world, but this movie is firstly a demonstration of solidarity.
Internet has gotten a reputation of people being trolls, spiteful, idiotic and even dangerous. But this, this shows the beautiful values human can have such as friendship, love and kindness. This project was made with one simple goal ; having fun. Shrek Retold unites people instead of dividing them. We may have our differences, but we all love Shrek. I can see all the heart, sincerity and honesty that went into this project. It is a true example of teamwork made without any commercial nor publicity goal.
This art project, because this IS art, gave all the artists the possibility to explore themselves, their art style and to give the world a piece of what passionate them.
May this project crafted by enthusiastic people all around the world be a part of Internet history, and change for good the negative image it has accumulated over the years.
I hope all of you had fun making/watching this, because I sure had.

I enjoy Shrek Retold a lot more because it embodies a part of the internet that appeals to me.
